1.
As per previous post, many thanks all - now done, correctly.

For future reference, can anyone tell me what I should say in French for government pensions, those that are exempt from tax.  I said pension d'état - is that right??

Thanks.

Hi, it will depend on the source of the pension, e.g. teacher, civil service, fire, police, military etc. So for example fire brigade would be "pension pompier", civil service "pension service publique" etc. Pension d'etat may be interpreted as OAP which IS taxable in France.
2. We were here during the storm of winter 1999. Power was off for 2 weeks and we weren't able to get out of the village for 6 days. Needless to say we are now very much more prepared for power cuts, being snowed-in, etc. etc.

We have a good supply of batteries, including solar rechargers, LED lamps, tinned food stocks, water, and wine of course :)
3. The cost is 8% of your RFR after the deduction of the allowance (~9600) so if you have other income apart from your pension this would be included. Have a look on your last tax form (Avis) to find your RFR, then you can do an exact calculation. Also, get quotes for top-up insurances. Full private healthcare CAN work out cheaper than PUMA + Top-up, depending on your income and circumstances.
4. Going through a similar process and have come up against the same problem. I eventually decided to transfer one pot to the Hargreaves Lansdowne Vantage SIPP which can be managed online and HL allow transfers for non-UK residents (some other providers do not)
5. How you register is dependent on your circumstances, i.e. working (employed), self-employed, running a business, retired and in receipt of UK state pension. Your situation will determine which "caisse" or health insurance office you need to apply to.

If none of these situations apply to you, then you may be able to apply for cover based on residence and income - info can be found online here

6. The previous system of CMU-B was payment of the 8% of RFR after the allowance (9611) for the household, not the individual. But with the change to PUMA, this may change slightly. Have you read the overview of PUMA on the RSI website - it may help to clarify your options

https://www.rsi.fr/zoom/la-protection-universelle-maladie.html

It clearly states that if you are currently a dependent (ayant droit) then that right will continue until 2019, so you should at least have continuing cover for the year after closing the business).

However, as you have not been with RSI very long, they may want you to transfer to CPAM as this is the caisse that deals with EU inactives.

Either way, I would hope that the contribution would still be by household and not per individual.

7.
Got the 2047 this morning, I agree it's a bit daunting when things have changed when you just seem to have got used to the old forms. I reckon I'm going to wait till I get the 2042 and see if anything there's changed, before I put pen to paper, and keep my fingers crossed that someone like Parsnips will be along soon to point us in the right direction.
Sounds like a good plan soupagirl - I'll be doing the same :)
8. One of the more recent problems French (and other European) banks have is the requirement to comply with FATCA (US tax reporting). They have to report anyone who may have a link to the US tax authorities or face potentially severe penalties.
