  5. I think st. malo would be your best bet, condor ferries sail there very quickly and cheaply and from our experience there are many undisturbed old french villages by the sea, it's lovely!!! Plussulien

  8. hi, i was wondering if anyone could help. We live in dept. 22 plussulien near corlay and (it sounds daft) we were wondering were we could get hold of a bus timetable for our dept. 22 and 56. even a website will do. it'll probably be really obvious once someone has said it's just we don't have time to go on a search as it's a holiday home and we are still scraping wallpaper!!! thanks. Plussulien
  9. I have asked my french friend and she says that a tree surgeon (after much confusion and fustration trying to explain a tree surgeon) is a "chirurgien d'arbre". Hope this is helpful. Plussulien
  10. we have a house in a small village called plussulien near corlay dept. 22, and we are wondering if there are any groups for children (ours are 11 and 16) for the summer and/or a family wanting to meet up near by preferably in the village, as we have only been decorating and they haven't met anyone there own age. we don't mind what nationality. Thanks Plussulien
  11. Has anyone else heard about the water bills going up in dept. 22? I don't know of any other dept. but one of our neighbours said. We don't know by how much or when it will start any info would be good as we don't live there permanently and neither does our neighbour so we'd appreciate your info. Thanks, Plussulien
  12. hi would really appreciate some info on best routes from brittany to Leeds, England. But only has to be one way. Not fused how by boat, train, car or plane, and cheaper the better. Thanks Plussulien
  13. we live in dept 22 and there are a few groups set up to discuss the language and living etc. which are set up by the locals (french and english). There is suppossed to be these groups throughout france, can't remember the name of it now but it should be on local salle de fetes noticeboards and/or the marie may know hope this is some use!!
  14. we only have a holiday home (at the moment!!!!) and we were invited round round to some french friends to eat 'raclette' which was delicious! we then acquired a raclette a few days later and have brought it back to england but our problem is that (as far as we know) england doesn't have raclette and we can therefore not buy the cheese so we were hoping that someone could let us know of where to buy the cheese in england or if there is a good equivalent. thanks.
  15. hi we are just down the road, in plussulien and there is a english owned bar that has a notice board which can accomodate almost everything so worth a look! Good luck with your house!
  16. There is a french dentist in Corlay that all the english go to because they speak very good english, i haven't been but have been told they are the ones to go to. Just reply if you want the number or address.
  17. Thankyou to the member who responded i have managed to order a copy from the website and hopefully it should arrive soon so we'll give that a bash!! and thankyou to the other member for telling us about the bbc I went onto bbc and they also have some good "activities" that were helpful, so I'd recommend it to others.
  18. I am also in the same position and so is my dad. Was hoping you could give me some more info. on the "hugo" course (sorry don't know who posted it!!) as sounds like what we need. I would also suggest that there is a programme on bbc2 on tuesdays about am called talk french i recorded it last week and it was basic but good for practise as its six lessons and starts with greetings and ends with meeting people and having (basic) conversations so maybe good to know for brushing up! But it's only on once a blue moon so you have to keep a look out! Would appreciate the info. and good luck everyone with the french we'll all be able to "parler francais" soon.
  19. We bought our frige/freezer, kettle and toaster at electrocass, it isn't a fancy shop but very low prices. It's situated on the main road from st. brieuc to rostrenen. You should see a sign on the first round about as soon as the motorway stops. Good Luck!!
  20. "I'll engage brain before typing that was pretty obvious!!!!" "Not necessary in this forum . . . . I never do!" That's a relief!
