  1. We know it as 'potrine de boeuf' in these ere parts. In fact our local butcher will also roll it and tie it for roasting, it may help that she is English!!!!!!
  2. Harnser Thanks very much, useful web site as well!
  3. I am trying to find the French word for a recall as in a car manufacturers recall to fix a problem, any ideas please?
  4. As stated I did eventually find the contact email and fired off a complaint not expecting much. However, less than 5 minutes after I sent the email I had a reply back stating that they had looked at the problem and I would receive a complete refund including carriage costs within 1-2 weeks. Amazed I was, plus all written in solid English!!
  5. Panic over, eventually found it, obviously an age thing!
  6. I have a dispute with Amazon.fr in relation to non refund of returned goods. I am pulling my hair out (if I had any) trying to find a contact number or even an email address to discuss the problem with them. I have done a search and found a number which has now been removed. There is nothing I can see on their website apart from web based suggestions as to what to do Any ideas folks?
  7. Wooly - good advice! Chancer- Have you got a brand name for the foaming polyurethane colle please?
  8. Unfortunately in the strong winds we have just had the end ridge tile of the roof has worked loose and removed itself. The ridge is easily accessible as I have an adjacent roof terrace. Is it possible just to stick the tile back on with something like Sika Fixotuile, or because the fact that the cement underneath previously holding it is still intact it will cause the tile not to sit back down level with the others and therefore be raised slightly which will cause a continuing problem.
  9. Uh......yes. Actually I think I have cracked it, the telephone number of the contact was not entered as +44 but 0044, also I think we are experiencing very slow internet speeds today, I have managed to get it going once but failed on other occasions.
  10. I would really appreciate some help in trying to get facetime working on my new Xmas present! Gift from daughter in Uk who wants us to chat to grandson, however I cannot get the small video icon to light up next to their name in contacts, therefore not possible to facetime, I only see the mail and text icons lit up!!
  11. Thank you all for the input, very useful, now just have to sort out what television to buy amongst the thousands on offer!!
  12. Excuse my ignorance but would it be possible to receive Freesat on a French tv with built in TNT if pointed at the right satellite. In other words are the built in tuners the same standard. I want to buy a new tv in UK with Freesat built in but son says a French bought TNT one would work!
  13. Yep, sorry Chancer that is an old card, as Thiere says, the current ones are white.
  14. I don't have any instructions but from what I have gleaned by fiddling it is possible to record only what you are watching, not another programme and also watch another one, if that makes sense, presumably because I have only one input from the dish. Also found a very useful gizmo on it that lets you rewind live tv, e.g. watching rugby and want to see the try scored again and again and again, no telephone line required. I am guessing that a telephone line would be required for On Demand stuff.
  15. OK, an update on my quest to fire up a replacement sky box. Said box was delivered from UK very promptly through Amazon although it was a sky+HD and not a sky HD as ordered, ok that's a bonus! I decided that I would use a UK sim in my phone to contact Sky which was seamless. Unfortunately the box could not be matched up with Sky records and therefore they could not pair it!! When the box was delivered there was no paperwork enclosed at all which made me a little suspicious. Found the original advert on Amazon and contacted the company which, allegedly, it came from. They denied it was sent by them and were most concerned that some competitor was trying to rip them off somehow! Contacted Amazon and arranged to send box back, however a few hours later and much to my amazement I found that the box was working properly and also that it had paired to the card somehow and giving me Sky Sports, certainly not through Sky, but I am delighted as I have also the benefits of a sky+ box. Does this mean that a sky box will automatically pair? I still don't really know!!!!
  16. It's a basic HD box not HD+. Reading the Sky web site it appears that all cards have to be matched with a box. Haven't received box yet, due to arrive early next week but will see what happens when I just insert the card.
  17. Chancer Yes, that's the whole point, I have Sky Sports and want to watch the upcoming Rugby Internationals!
  18. Oh dear, oh dear oh dear, the start of the Rugby internationals and my sky box has blown up after a rather strong orage last weekend. Have ordered a new one after exhaustive attempts to breathe new life into old one, but the system for marrying card to new box I am not sure about. Apparently it is possible to do this through the Sky web site, but please excuse my ignorance in all things computer when I ask the question "Is it possible for Sky to know that the registering process would originate from a French ISP" and thereby giving them cause to refuse such request?
  19. Plus the fact that the A709 is strictly 90kph for its whole length. Picked up daughter from the airport a month back via 709 and just received a speeding fine for doing 98!!
  20. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.
  21. I would like to add an additional fluorescent light to the 4 already fitted, but would like this one to have a separate on/off switch, somewhere in the back of mind I remember that it is not possible, any suggestions?
  22. AnOther All acceptable driving licences for use in NZ must be in the English language or an official translation in English of the original to be held with the original. Quote from New Zealand Transport Agency.
  23. Minnie I too a few years ago had to have an International Driving Licence for use in NZ as I visit each year. However, as it was about to expire last year I decided to go to an official NZ translator of French and have the French Driving Licence translated for posterity. The one I went to lives in Cambridge (NZ) and cost $50.
