  1. They are still discussing how far you can walk, maybe 5, maybe 10 kms. Vaccines by year end
  2. DT and Iwanka will pardon one of two turkeys called Corn and Cob in an old Thanksgiving tradition. One wonders if anyone will ever pardon the Turkey President or his weefe? Both probably too tough, old and stringy to eat and one having eaten nothing but Macdonalds burgers for years is probably raddled and addled. So, chop ‘em both? https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2020/nov/24/trump-will-pardon-turkey-after-agreeing-to-presidential-transition
  3. Sorry to hear that Nimt, seems odd. Been on zoom a couple of times, always successful, but the meeting was set up and controlled by other folk who supplied the password. Ah, were you using the Welsh language version which needs passwords in Welsh??
  4. If I last that long, dear, inshallah. Would like the Oxford one as I am more prone to trust them than another. So my little Bird and I can get together again. and go on hols. You up for it?
  5. The Germans and Americans seem to have a vaccine or two and Oxford/ Astra Zeneca has one just about over the line but where is the French one? It seems improbable that they too woudnt have one imminent. UK at least seems about to start vaccinating. Maybe we shall al be done by April? Meanwhile......
  6. In my arms, reluctantly, very surprised by it all. Worst of all is that no one could have helped him as his system just shut down. He will be much missed by all who knew him. His ashes will be spread on a beach he loved. Huge gaps left here.
  7. My best friend died a week ago today. Should the pet passport be returned anywhere? I would rather like to keep it.
  8. Hmmm, were those the two rugby players or Chippendales?
  9. We are very very lucky we do not live in the US, thanks to the Blonde Pig!
  10. My daughter has suggested that she and grandchild should be tested before they decide whether to come her for Xmas and that there are prickfinger blood tests available now at pharmacies. Such tests are not on sale in Belgium and I suspect not here either. Has anyone had a test, what did you have? Here is a list of what is available, by the way: https://www.santemagazine.fr/sante/examens-medicaux/prelevements/test-de-depistage-au-coronavirus-quel-test-pour-qui-rembourse-ou-432724
  11. Done most of my Xmas shopping already, just stockings to go.
  12. The minister of Health says it is slowly coming under control. Xmas may yet be limited. Here is a daily update in the different Départements. How does yours stand? https://www.lemonde.fr/les-decodeurs/article/2020/11/12/covid-19-quelle-est-la-situation-de-l-epidemie-dans-les-101-departements-francais_6059504_4355770.html
  13. Yes, I know about the property buyers. It has been going on for a long time. I had kids in the London lycée so met the folks investing.
  14. Kids hold illegal house parties under Paris when they have found a hidden entrance to the caves. The gendarmes chase after them When building Paris, the caves were and are a huge problem; the solution has been to pump loads of concrete underground to stabilise the foundations. Seems risky somehow.
  15. Well, the article implies a wish to curb Amazon, an idea pushed mainly by the far left unions and loony politicians like Mélenchon, and the far Right. Which means to me that Amazon is here to stay and will get bigger despite moans and groans. Of cpurse, had it been French there would have been no discussion.
  16. Yes, but I detected that Normandy was a way for you to get closer to England as you have an urge to spend more time there or even return!
  17. You bored? As our resident pessimist, give us something to bite you on! Moved to Normandy yet?
  18. Of course Amazon should pay appropriate taxes but using taxation to stunt their growth and to protect the so called commerces de proximité seems unrealistic. People like Amazon and want to use it and not the expensive and very limited local shops, even if they are staffed by chubby, smiling local staff so keen to help and take your cash! Anyway, there do seem to be rumblings in the playground with the usual suspects chiming in. https://www.lemonde.fr/economie/article/2020/11/16/responsables-politiques-et-syndicats-lancent-un-appel-pour-stopper-amazon_6059903_3234.html
  19. For those living in France the new EHIC is for visiting other member states of the EU, but not usable in France. Those who are covered by the S1 have to make changes now. I was just wonder8ng if anyone had trodden the path yet.
  20. I guess the saving of mankind (ok, personkind) is the most important thing here, overriding other criteria.
  21. Anyone applied the new one, exchanging their old one? Simple procedure, snags? Thanks
  22. It seems that those of us who are permanent have to change organisms to obtain health cover post 31 Dec. Had anyone done this so far, any snags? Thanks.
  23. It seems that 15 % of folk in France are anti any form of vaccination and 50% are anti the Covid jab, largely on the grounds that it had not been ‘proven’ yet. What percentage of the population needs to be done to get rid of covid? Should refusal be sanctioned in some way?
