  1. I feel the well orchestrated media circus has only hindered the whole enquiry and it will swing fully round on the McCanns if the truth is that they had some involvement. The differing legal systems in differant countries is interesting. It works on the whole for the country it has eveolved in. We are in a very media led society over here in the UK and each choose to read and believe what we want to. The real sickener to me is the lack of international coverage 'normal' families get. Get two doctors, holidaying and mealing out with Doctors and its front page news day in day out. Were it a single parent on benefits at a holiday camp in cleethorpes and he/she'd have been lambasted by the press by now. My only thought is that I hope the little one didn't suffer
  2. It was a little simpler for us, we only looked at places that we could afford. That ruled out alot of France and we plumped for the Limousin...second home for the next 8 years but on retirement (at the ripe old age of 49) it'll be a more permanent thing. Wonder where she picked?
  3. It may a simplistic view from me but...that sort of area of 'rock' would mean massive works, think of the volume of rock you would need to relocate..added to the normal price of a pool. thought of moving house? This is a serious question if you are set on a pool.
  4. I always enjoys loafing around the edge of a pool with a big net, dragging out dead mice and the odd leaf...but if i was a Gite owner, I would hate to think of leaving the welfare of my rather expensive pool to some people who I've only just met who probably haven't the faintest idea of how to correctly service a pool. Surely the extra one pays when renting a gite with pool covers for the cleaning and upkeep of said pool???
  5. Hi, can't see why they are suggesting using the autoroute until you can at least match the traffic speed...i.e 130kmh...If it revs to say 8000 to red  line, then 4000rpm for first 800km is fine, then you should be getting a first service, basically an oil and filter change, then increase the revs with every couple of hundred Km and by 1500km you should be able to rev it all you want. (I ran a Bandit 1200 in on a trackday last year and its still fine as above, regular oil changes, and with oil in Leclercs being so cheap, you could do it every few hundred Km to start with)
  6. Chains only snap because they are badly maintained...for which read, lack of lubricant. I have just returned from a place in Normandy (with 12 other members of my family) that had 6 bikes, all were in a terrible state of repair. I oiled the chains, put air in the tyres, adjusted the seats and away we went, most of them had a little use over the week but as a paying guest, I expected the bikes to be fit for purpose on my arrival...it'd be like a gite owner expecting me to clean a dirty pool, oh and could you just rewire that barn while you're at it. I cannot see a problem at all in getting a few differing size VTTs from say Decathlon, £70 each new, if looked after they will last a few seasons, a list of do and don'ts together with the rest of the house rules etc
