  1. Yes, sorry, I made a mistake in the site, here it is: http://animalaidsaintaubin.monsite.wanadoo.fr Christine
  2. Ramah has sent me a photo of Jake and here he is, beautiful Ramah says he's a fantastic dog and very intelligent.  It's Jake's birthday on 1st June.  Anyone ready to adopt him and give him a Happy Birthday? Christine http://animalaidsaintaubin.wanadoo.fr
  3. Of course, so it was the fault of the Belgians.  Now why did they have to go and interfere with our beautiful "entente"? En tout cas, merci and bravo to those who have had some nice things to say about our friends. I am returning to the "Smelly Dog" section.  It's amazing the interest and enthusiasm inspired by such subjects as smelly dogs and ticks! So, as I said, "who care's about Europe's opinions of the French?" Love to all, Christine
  4. Then that perhaps confirms what I have been trying to say about them. Christine
  5. Crikey, Mikey, who cares about "Europe's" opinions of the French.  Are you living here and still quoting such rubbish?  Surely the British in France could show more savoir faire and savoir vivre and be above such small mindedness. I have lived in France for over 37 years, have never been treated as a "foreigner" and have always felt at home here.  Tolerance is the word over here, tolerance.  Imagine the present invasion the other way round, would the welcome in Britain be so warm and tolerant as it is here to you? I think I had better stop before I lose my tolerance, hoping and knowing that the majority of expats over here appreciate the wonderful life they are living, thanks to the French... I am also able to see the other side of it and hear how much you are appreciated here, without  criticism, how much the French would like to able to talk with you more and how they are always so glad that you participate in their different gatherings where everything can be shared without caring about "nationalities".  We are new in our area, Poitou-Charentes, and, knowing we are bilingual, the locals insist that we go to the festivities as they love the English to be there, but can't communicate enough. Please don't spoil the pleasures of life here by trivialities, such as who thinks what of who. The French are certainly not obliging you to be here with them.  Christine
  6. I have no idea who they are, nor what it is like, but there is often an ad in "French News" in Charente (16), isn't Charente Maritime 17, they call themselves Sunfleurs, holidays for dogs with a young English family, call Geoff or Nina 05 45 91 59 49. Hope this may help, but I can in now way be a reference for them, as I do not know them, just passing on their ad. Christine   http://animalaidsaintaubin.monsite.wanadoo.fr
  7. Yes, but in France "about 7" months, could easily be 9 months. We all know that over here in a week is "dans 8 jours"; in a fortnight is "dans 15 jours" then why does the piece of furniture, a "semainier", only have 7 drawers? This was mentioned in a very funny article by Art Buchwald in the International Herald Tribune many, many years ago, called something like "The Problem of Telling What Time it is in France".  If ever I come across it, I'll post it on here somewhere. Sorry for "straying away" from the dog tags, I think I may have loose boundaries! Christine
  8. The best advice is not to let your pet wander and get those loose boundaries tightened up. Concerning the discs which always get lost, we put those little and inexpensive plastic tags on (for keys or suitcases, etc.), they come in packets with several tags, and if the dog loses it, we just put another one on with our name, town and telephone number. TheSCC has an enormous backlog for registering animals, it takes about 7 months.  If they have a tag on their collar with a phone number, as well as the other identifications of tattoo or chip, you will retrieve your animal far more quickly. Bonne chance and welcome to France, Christine http://animalaidsaintaubin.monsite.wanadoo.fr
  9. Hello, my name is Christine Aubertin, Animal Aid, we have been taking care of homeless pets for "donkey's years".  By the way, bravo for the new site Animal Matters, marvellous idea. We lived up on the edge of Normandy and have recently come down to the Deux-Sèvres, Poitou-Charentes where we are continuing to do what we can. My present quest is for Oliver, a lovely 6 year old French poodle.  His owners are returning to England and dogs are not allowed in their new residence.  They had two little dogs, both rescued from the SPA a few years ago.  We have found a home for one of them, but Oliver still needs a family.  For a Caniche 6 years is not old, he probably has a good ten years in front of him and is just nice and "mature", quiet and well behaved.  He would make lovely company for a retired couple, for example.  When I went to the Niort refuge last August with some English people who wanted a dog, there was someone abandoning a little 10 year old poodle and, not being able to bear this, I brought him home, he is now eleven and is as fresh and chirpy as any of the younger dogs. Oliver is in the Bourges, Nevers area, which is not a problem as his owner is ready to take him to someone offering a new home.  There is a photo of Oliver on the Adoptions photos page of our little site http://animalaidsaintaubin.monsite.wanadoo.fr Is there someone out there willing to open up their heart and their home to Oliver? Merci bien, Christine
