1. My wife needed a PCR test for a hospital visit in March.

I phoned our local cabinet, who said that Brigitte, our regular infirmière, would come to the house a day or so later.

Next day I thought it would be a good idea to have a test myself, so called to ask if this was possible. "No problem" I was told.

The samples from both of us went to the laboratory of their choice, and we received the results (negative) by post the following day.

A van passes through the village every day to collect samples of all kinds from the infirmières and the pharmacies, so we have never had to go to a lab. in person.

The cost of both the home visit and the test were covered 100% by l'Assurance Maladie (15€73 for the infirmière and 53€19 for the lab)

  2.
There does seem to be some confusion! I was replying to Nick. .......................
It doesn't make any sense to reply to a post made over six weeks ago and several pages back without any reference or quotation to indicate to whom you are replying.

Or do you just troll the forum looking for someone or something to disagree with?

And you're the one who keeps calling people stupid [:-))]

  3.
If you are referring to my last post, Ken, then the article is there on the web in a publication called Unherd, but the link works too. It refers to the habit of the French of running themselves down, essentially and to the problem of population reduction.

Try and read it, even if you have to use the dictionary for the long words. There are, by the way, simplified dictionaries for children and learners of English!?
I'm not sure who he is replying to, he's often a bit random.

Maybe a quick lesson in forum etiquette would help, such as mentioning the name of the person to whom the reply is being made.

I think there are some "sticky" notes on the forum home page.

  4.
Undoubtedly a good idea but will the MT be willing to either risk the treatment or give up the fee?
The MT has the choice, so it's his decision, and could depend on the time he has available for patients.

"L'ordonnance devra mentionner que le pharmacien peut faire le

renouvellement ou le changement de posologie qui pourra être limité à

une partie de l'ordonnance. En cas de nouvelle posologie, le pharmacien

devra en informer le médecin traitant."

First thing, is have you got him to see someone yet? Or you have seen someone about him. If not, PLEASE DO IT!

Personally I would hide the shears and as suggested sabotage the lawnmower...........

AND why not have a word with the farmer, tell him that

you husband is loosing his marbles and keeps ranting and raving about getting the farmer to do lots of things in your garden that you do not want doing.

WHY are you putting up with this abusive man.............. I truly do not get it!

I know we sign up to sickness and health, but we also sign up to love and honour, and that bit seems to being out of the window.

I usually avoid getting involved in "family stuff" but in this case I couldn't agree more.

  6.
The dates might be on the tax form next year and save you having to do it again.

Like Nimterooni I have an old account, opened in 1972. Is this a record?
Your returns for the last 10 years are available under "Documents" in your espace paticulier on the Impôts site, so no need to make notes to search for next year!

Our current account with Lloyds bank was opened in 1968 at its current branch, but was transferred from another branch where it was opened in about 1954.

  7. It says "un certificat ou un document justifiant de leur vaccination contre la

Covid-19, un certificat négatif de test de dépistage d'infection active

ou un certificat d'immunité après guérison de cette maladie", which I take, because of the use of the comma, to mean any one of the items.

I'm sure someone with a better knowledge of French grammar will be along to correct me if necessary [:)]

  8. It was mentioned on our Mairie's Panneaupocket a couple of days ago, together with alternative fixed and mobile numbers. The programme/app may be downloaded here: PANNEAUPOCKET

I didn't mention it because at the time I was feeling annoyed at being called stupid by the Oracle from Piss-on-the-level.

It was also mentioned at length on TV and in the press.

EDIT: I just corrected the link. I hope it works now.

  9. We like PG Tips tea bags, which are not easy to find around here, and usually expensive.

Before this year we usually bought them from British Corner Shop.

I just checked, and they now have a warehouse in Holland to avoid customs duties on shipments to the EU.

The prices are a little higher than before, up from £7.99 in May last year to £8.39 for a 240 bag pack, but still probably worthwhile. Prices in Euros are also available, but at a rate of almost £1 = 1€30, so I use Sterling we have in the UK.

  10.
'Calories are absolutely not the same'

You are confused. A calorie is a measurement of heat. There are different sources of calories, fat, protein etc and the calorific value of each source will vary. I could go on but I suggest you don't cherry pick information from Google!!!
Try a Google search for "sexual intellectual"

  11. It is quite obvious that the authorities are only at best making random checks in some places.

Saying that anyone can cross into Spain without being controlled is a bit like saying you drove home p*ssed yesterday and no-one stopped you, so anyone can drive when they are p*ssed.

    danny

    'We took the risk today.
Just back from a days shopping,

no problems on the way down, however cars were been stopped at the

entrance to the Spanish motorway, Lots of cars pulled over, the two cars

in front of us had Belgium plates , both pulled over, lots of french

cars also, saw the debit card machine in action. When it was our turn,

they looked at the number plates, ( 66 ) and waved us on.
From the 7Th June 2021, just the digital cert is all that is required, no PCR test, but it must be for the two jabs.'

That supports what I posted above about exceptions for those who live near the border.

Even in pre-covid times there were fewer problems going across to Andorra and back if yhou had an 09 or 66 plate..
Which is quite ridiculous when, since the new plates were introduced, one can have any department number one chooses on the plates, and it is not necessary to change them when the car is sold or one moves into another department. We live in 11 but my car has the 30 plate which was on it when I bought it.

  13. We bought Kentucky Fried Chicken from a roadside stall near Preston in 1968, which I believe was one of the first outlets in the UK.

We thought it was extremely greasy and rather disgusting, threw away most of it, and have never bought it since.

I was told it was cooked with specially flavoured oil in pressure cookers to decrease the cooking time.

  14. I received a letter yesterday containing a small Ebay purchase and was surprised to see two commemorative stamps on it to the value of 7.00 (no currency unit mentioned).

After a search I found they were issued in 1981 and 1990, worth a couple of Euros each as mint stamps in a catalogue.

They have been postmarked, so presumably are still legal. The current face value would be about 1€07. Click on small image to enlarge.

  15.
Thank you though I have no idea what a QR code is or what it is for..
It's similar to a bar code and enables the authorities to read and verify a document.
