However we realized we had a few more weeks to go on the currant tyrpes and then after further discussion with my partner we decided when having the car serviced to get our local garage to also fit the new tyres. I have been asked to do some part time work for a French company selling specialist machinery into food manufacturing factories here in France. They have asked me to let them know what I would charge for my work. I expect to do about two weeks work a month from them. I wonder if perhaps anybody could advise me what earnings a company sales representative would get per year here in France and what other benefits (company car, pension etc.). Ce pianiste parisien discret mais grand interprète du répertoire classique et romantique, dans son interprétation plus proche d'un Alfred Brendel que de Lang Lang a travaillé avec les pianistes français les plus prestigieux tels que Jean-Claude Pennetier, Cathérine Collard, Anne Queffelec. L'année dernière il a fait une grande impression avec son interprétation de la dernière sonate de Beethoven. Cette année Robert Millardet nous revient avec des  pièces de Joh. Brahms et la grande sonate en La Majeur de Schubert. Après un concert à guichets fermés dimanche dernier  à l'église de Villeneuve sur Tarn par le jeune pianiste hongrois Péter Tóth, très applaudi notamment dans  l'interprétation des oeuvres de son compositeur d'élection Franz Liszt c’est à Hannes Minnaar, pianiste hollandais de 23 ans de se produire mercredi 5 août à 20h45, à l’église de Villeneuve sur Tarn,  avec un programme de choix : Les Miroirs de Ravel et la première sonate de Rachmaninov, une œuvre sublime et très peu jouée. Hannes Minnaar est l’heureux élu 1er nommé en 2008 du Concours de Genève, un des concours de piano les plus prestigieux au monde. Une telle distinction n'a pas été discernée à un pianiste hollandais depuis 60 ans. Peter de Groot :  il y avait 105 inscrits à ce concours, les jeunes pianistes les plus prometteurs venus du monde entier, le Japon, la Russie, l’Allemagne, La France. Parmi les candidats français il y avait 2 pianistes de grand talent originaire de la Région Midi Pyrénées et bien connus de notre public, Marine Marcel, qui s’est produite en 2008 avec beaucoup de succès dans notre Festival et Eric Artz, originaire de Saint Affrique et qui a plusieurs fois déjà ravi ses habitants. Hannes Minnaar qui peut désormais être considéré comme un des plus grands pianistes hollandais de ces dernières années,  se produira pour la première fois en France à l’occasion de son concert à Villeneuve sur Tarn.   Peter de Groot, directeur artistique du Festival Musique en Vallée du Tarn : " le jeu de ce pianiste est complètement naturel, rien ne lui résiste et la musicalité est présente du début à la fin". There are a series of classical music concerts entitled “Musique en Vallée du Tarn” taking place over the next two weeks, with an interesting programme each evening. Concerts will take place at the church in Villeneuve sur Tarn on Sunday 2 August, at 17h45 and again on Wednesday 5 August, at 20h45. More concerts will take place at the church in Saint-André on Thursday 6 August at 20h45, on Friday 7 August at 20h45 and on Sunday 9 August at 17h45. On Monday 1st June (Bank Holiday) from 10 am a friendly game of critcket ( and picnic) is being organised to take place at Le Troc (behind the football fields on the way to rodez airport form Rodez). I need to buy a petrol brush cutter. I am thinking of buying one of the cheaper Ryobi. Any one got any experience of the Ryobi? Any advice would be appreciated in general on brush cutters, bearing in mind that I want to spend a maximum of about 250 Euros. Thanks as always for your help. Francie

Our German Shepherd Kimber moved to France last April without any problem. We registared him with a local vet and went for a check up and his annual jabs back in Sptember. He goes this week again to the vet for his rabies booster. He has settled in very well and seems to like the French way of life very much. He enjoys staying in hotels and the very occasionally visits to a restaurat with us. Having lived in a urban area for seven years of his life he now loves been a country dog. I am in the process of applying to import my car, and need the cylinder size. After consulting my log book and drivers handbook, I cant seem to find the cylinder size in cm3 (Cylindree). I have a Vauxhall Astra 1.7 Merit Estate diesel. Can anyone give me or guide me to where I can get this information? Thanks

  I would recommend L'Ayssènol Ayssenes http://www.ayssenol.fr The restaurant is located in the village of Ayssenes near Le Truel sitting above the Tarn river in the Aveyron (12). We visited there with friends last June. It was a great dining experience. We sat in the garden, where many of the produce for the restaurant were growing. That night we were the only diners and were served and cooked for by the owner. On handing us the menu we were asked if we would like to look at the menu or be surprised. We all opted for a surprise and we were surprised and impressed.  I could go on more but best to try it yourself. They do meat options. If you don’t leave nearby or know the area you will be impressed with that as well. The area and the restaurant are definitely worth making part of a trip.   BP where is Le Papillon and what is the name/address of the restaurant in Albi?    Francie.  

I am trying to work out if it is worth registering our 1994 Vauxhall Astra 1.7 diesel in France. We would plan to use it as a second car. I have worked out ruff costs for the attestation d'identite, new headlamps and CT test but I am not sure of the registration cost. Can any body advise me how much it would be for our car?   Francie

Does anybody know if there is any organization in Germany that you can use to check over a second hand car you are buying, similar to what the RAC or AA will do in England?     Francis.

Anybody got any suggestion for something special or different to do on New Years Eve in the Aveyron (12). I am thinking of something like a special restaurant or dinner dance.  Anybody with insider knowledge please give us some ideas.   Francie.

A few of mine and I have recently purchase a house just west of St Affrique near Le Truel in the South Aveyron (12).  My friend moved from Sheffield to live down there at Easter with my help. I am spending as much time as possibly down there for now and will move full time at the end of February. As yet we have met no other expats in our area. We would like to get together with others in our area. We are keen foodies and love to entertain at home, visit friends for food or eat out. Otherwise we have wide interests including music (keen concert goers), reading, gardening, movies and travel. We are also keen dog owners and are very proud of our rescue (re-homed) German shepherd dog called Kimber.

We would like to find somebody who is looking for somebody to do some dog sitting for their female dog (bitch). We live in the south Aveyron (12) west of St Affrique. We have an eight year old German Shepherd dog (male) and want the opportunity to try him for a few days (or 2 weeks) with a female dog. We want to rehome a rescue dog. In general he is afraid of other dogs but in the past we tried him with another male dog and he just got depressed. We do think he will be fine with a female but what to check first because if we rehome a rescue dog it must work. Our dog Kimber is a full dog therefore the female dog would need to be spayed. Has anybody got any information on car auctions in the south west of France? I am based in the south Aveyron and would like to find an auction with in three hours drive.  As I am keen to buy an Audi A4 or a Mercedes C220 I have considered trying a car auction in Germany and importing from there to the France. I know this is more than three hours away but I feel I would get a better selection.  Any information or suggestions greatly appreciated as always.   Francie.
