  1. Has anyone watched this? The Maltese Double Cross. It's quite long at 2 and a half hours, but lot's of interesting bits and pieces. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=7160854996287567609&ei=-_iOSpniKZSt-Abd2aiyDQ&q=pan+am+flight+103 Chris
  2. Well they look like one of the Pippistrelle species to me from what I can see, sorry not to be more exciting.[;-)] Always good to see bats though, poor little sods don't have the best of times, although that does seem to be improving a bit. Chris
  3. I tend to agree with Andy, I think I would be cautious at 3 metres from the patio. Just remember they are there and keep out of the flight path. Chris
  4. It ties in with the shed snake skin that you found John, which makes me kinda pleased.[:)] Nice one.... now where's mummy snake???? A bit of a give away with this snake is the raised "eyebrow", can you see what I mean? Chris
  5. John's got a photo somewhere???? Just google Elephant Hawk Moth. Chris
  6. It's a hatchling / juvenile Montpellier snake.[:D] and it would be a very useful example for the web site.[;-)] Lovely, really pretty. Chris

  8. I don't need anything thank you, I have everything I require. Chris
  9. I wasn't at all rude, I asked politely and said please - as always. Thank you for the link, it is also exactly how I understand it but it is contestable and the person making the complaint needs to be able to prove that it is causing them harm or damage. If this wasn't the case there would be no land left en friche in France. Sorry if you are still having problems with be asked for more information tag. Chris
  10. ""Best complain to the commune who will give the owner a certain time to sort the filed out. if not, then the filed will be sorted and the bill sent to the owner. There is a duty to keep land clean and he is not carrying it out."" There is? A "duty", what's a duty?  If you mean a law could you please give some more detail please? Chris
  11. Strange really because one looks to be in moult but it's not really the right time of year for that, it's the one with the moth eaten appearance. Chris
  12. Looks like two male roe deer to me, (doing what males often do).[:D] What a great video and what a wonderful spectacle to have seen out in the open, better than TV, well, almost anything is better than TV, but a great experience for you. Chris
  13. Male roe deer have small antlers. Female deer don't have antlers. Chris
  14. Roe deer are rutting now, just a thought. Chris
  15. Hedgehog? and a photo would have been good. Chris
  16. I've only just seen this thread and there is little that I can say - it is what it is and this is the France that apparently everyone loves so much. A Country that has the poorest record in the EU for protecting wildlife and habitats. A Country that still allows types of hunting for Skylarks and other small bird species on the basis that it is "traditional". Methods such as Mist nets, Glue traps and Tendelle traps. A Country that uses more chemicals on its land than any other in the EU.... but that's all part of its quaint charm.......isn't it? Chris
  17. I've had enough of Teleconnect for all the reasons already given and I will be changing to.... http://www.dartybox.com/redbox-frontoffice-web/accueil.html Chris
  18. Well to be frank, (and I'm sorry to have to say this in public), you didn't do very well in your last practical "Mending broken butterfly wings". I'm just not sure that you are cut out for it.[8-)] Chris
  19. That's fortunate for the insects.[8-|] Chris
  20. You lot make me work sometimes...[:D] Cat.1. .Aglia tau Cat 2. As stated in the previous post. Cat 3. Euproctis similis Chris
  21. Thanks Clair.[:D] It's a nuisance, but that's life. Chris
  22. You need the special spray for nests that come out as a jet, not a mist spray, you do it at dusk with plenty of protection against stings. Equally, don't confuse buzzing and activity with aggressive, if they were actually aggressive you would be full of stings.... ....and the numbers are normal AFAIK this year, no plague. Chris
  23. Quite a forgiving bird that isn't too bothered by human activity, so in with half a chance. Good luck. Chris
  24. Black redstart? http://www.hlasek.com/phoenicurus_ochruros_d145.html Chris
