  1. please can anyone recommend an english tax advisor in France specialising in assistign expats. I ideally want to be self employed in France, but it is looking like the tax situation means this is not feasible. i simply want to earn enough to survive on through my freelance work and set up a little business in France do so, in the UK this would be non-taxable as under the threshold but it does not seem so simple in France.Any recommendations gratefully received, pls post contact deatisl fro accountants here or in my postbox as have disabled email link due to viruses. Many thanks
  2. Hi i am trying to tie up employment with a British company that will allow me to work from home in France once move is permanent (as an actual employee rather than a freelance). Should this come off, can a british company simple employ what will be a french resident in this way and can that person just pay into french tax system as a 'normal' employee would? i know french taxes are high, but setting up as self employed seems to be a very off putting process! Any advice gratefully received.
  3. Dear forum this site seems such a mine of information it is difficult not to bombard the discussion with questions as in moving to france i have millions of them! However in brief, electrics - previous owner has done these not not acquired a certificate. I presume this certificate is necessary for long term electric supply, has anyone any experience of having to gain one? Improvements - i am a bit confused by various posts, what can and can't a home owner do themselves re building(legally not physically!). Does a tradesman have to do all exterior work (in my case bricking up two sides of a carport and rebuilding its tiny roof to make an extra room) or is this only if you plan to claim the tax back. we could do most of this ourselves but is this not allowed by building regs? Best Regards Helen
  4. Hi I have posted this questions before but it got lost! My friend is suffering from a French property purchase where the original sale date keeps being put back and back... This is causing a huge problem at the uk end as he has given up the lease on a property there. Does anyone know what the legal implications are...can the sale date be put back indefinately and can the buyer halt the sale if the situation becomes too drawn out (ie 5 months instead of the expected 3!) Any advice gratefully received Best REgards Helen
