  1. Thanks to all those that responded with offers of property to rent, and all the helpful advice. I would have replied to everyone, individualy, but this'ere 'puter thingy  took a turn for the worse, and major surgery was required. I've now removed the bandages, and it seems that it's made a full recovery! It seems that I may be moving to Burgundy region,Chateau Chinon/Luzy area. I won't know for sure 'til April.
  2. Honest,reliable adult couple,mid 50's seeking property to rent,min 3 months,preferably longer,from April/May. Nothing fancy required,just the basics.Water and electric would be nice!Most important of all,must have garage/barn to keep a rather expensive motorcycle in!! Anything considered, rural/semi-rural,but not isolated,prefered. References available.
  3. Well,me and Mrs T are moving to Limousin in April/May of this year, not sure exactly which part yet.We are looking for a long-term let within Limoges,Aubusson,Brive triangle. I am a Carpenter/Joiner with over 40 years experience, but there's plenty of life left in this ol' boy yet! Yes,I will be registering with the relevent authorities! No,I'm not 100% fluent in French, but I'll get there! I am,however fully fluent in all things wood,I said fluent, not effluent!!!    I can fit kitchens, windows, doors, make furniture, ect, ect, ect, in any language! Not related to the above, but I also have an HGV C+E(Class One)license. Also,I have a Helmsman certificate for inland waterways, which allows me to pilot canal boats up to 24m in length(maybe I should go to Burgundy!) Is there no end to this mans talent??!! Oh,and I'm a life-long motorcyclist as well. Now,If I could find someone to pay me to ride the bike, that would be just fine! Twistgrip Anyone out there need my services? If so,please send me a PM
  4. Renewed mine last month, due to change of address. It expires on my 70th birthday............28-6-2020! I guess someone on here has got their "facts" wrong. Or am I missing something?
  5. Hello everyone. My first post(been lurking for quite a while). I have a question, well, several  actually, but just the one to start with! I,and wifey, are planning to move to France(prefered departments being 71,58, Burgundy,or 19,23,87,Limousin)not decided which yet,as both these regions have things that we  have a great deal of interest in,not least the canals of Burgundy(we lived on a canalboat for 2 years in GB). The deciding factor will be mainly to do with work. I am 57(just!) and have been a Carpenter and Joiner all my working life. 27 of those years was in shopfitting,I've also fitted out canalboats, motorhomes,Park homes and caravans,as well as the usual 1st and 2nd fix, kitchens ect. The question is,what is the situation regarding my type of work in Burgundy and/or Limousin? Although I've been self-employed for the last 30+years,I don't really mind just becoming an emloyee. I can speak a little French, but when I'm spoken to in French,I understand even less!! So,to start with at least,it would probably be better if I could find an English speaking employer.Don't get me wrong. I have every wish to become more conversant with the language, but the best way to learn a language,is to live among the natives, and that's what we intend to do. Any comments, good, bad or indifferent, would be much appreciated(I'm thick skinned!)
