1. Yes, I agree. I'd also worked that out, hence trying to track down where to buy one. To date, the CG have been less than helpful. There is a company that makes flags from the Mairie's etc. and they do one, but it's a full-on heavy woven-stand-the-test-of-time jobbie and darn expensive too - I just need a light (one side printed) type TBH .... oh well, onwards with the quest ...
 2. yes, thanks for that Bugbear - I managed to find that too I'm actually quite well versed in Google and boolean searches (actually there are about 100 different links to it via the FOTW database). It tells me everything I already know about the flag but not where to buy one from .....
 3. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a Charente Maritime flag? This one: in approx. size 5 ' x 3' Seems a silly question, but can't for the life of me find one via Googling ... TIA
 4.

Nogent le Bernard, Sarthe, myself.  Now isn't there a kind of "stick a pin in a map" website that forum members can post on?  Anybody know the one I mean?  Might be fun for this site.
Whoops .. just spotted the frappr post above- that's the one.
Urm ... am I being a bit thick or is/has the frappr link moved/gone/died etc.? Can't see it in this thread at all .... [8-)]
 5.
Ah yes, I see.  I've asked the mods over there to sticky it for you.
Merci beaucoup ...
 6.
JDS I think you'll find that this http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0 is the best place for off-loading tickets.  It is absolutely against Club Arnage forum rules to profiteer and I can honestly say that a nicer bunch of guys and gals you could not wish to meet.  Down with e-bay!![:D] While you're on there, take a look at the "CA Cavalcade" sticky thread on the General Discussion board.  I'm organising a ride-out around the Sarthe on the Friday afternoon, if you fancy a change from the Drivers' Parade.  Otherwise, let's meet for a cold one some time over the weekend.
Thanks for the info - I've actually put them on Club Arnarge (and Beermountain) already - as I said, due to a friend cancelling for family reasons I'm just looking to re-coup costs so I can afford some beer over the weekend [B]. I'll take you up on the offer of a cold one at some point too ....
 7.
Yup!  Plus Ernie Y and o/h.  I think the sausage was planning to go but he doesn't post here now. See also http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/921775/ShowPost.aspx
Oops, didn't see that - said hello in there too now.
 8. Hi, I started a thread also as I'd not seen this on - doh! thanks for the pointer! Well, I'll be there from the tuesday soaking up the atmosphere. Oh, I've also got a Camping (Lay-by) permit for Karting Nord and two GE tickets going spare if anyone wants them @ cost price (before they go onto fleabay for a silly price).
 9. We'll be there from the tuesday eve, looking forwards to a great race this year. [:D]
 10. Well, looks like Poolguy may have an answer. For those who may be suffering similar aliement, here's a few pix of the poor state of our tileband above the waterline ..... [:(]
 11. thanks Sue. It does look like it could be done I agree, it's just finding someone who can/will do it! A few days of googling haven't yet turned up any results unfortunately [:(]
 12. Hello, Unfortunately, the tileband on our liner pool has been burnt by the sun over the water line and our cleaner thinking it was dirt set to it with a green abrasive sponge (arrrgh!). Anyway it's not their fault but we do have a very poorly tile band now. I'd like to know if it's possible to replace the tile band (by having a new one 'glued over') as the liner is otherwise in perfect condition and was replaced only 4 years ago, so many thousands of euros to do the same again is wasteful (and I may add very painful on my bank balance!). Any help/advice VERY greatfully recieved.
 13.
Slight change in subject... But anyone actually know if Angouleme Airport is taking UK flights, this year, next year????????????? Ryanair- rumours have been flying for months now
All still just rumours at the moment, more's the pity. I do seem to remember reading a newspaper article around Jan time (I think it was posted also on one of the forums) that said that the various CoC had agreed the name change that Ryanair wanted and that plans were for June 07 flights to start .... unfortunately, since that I've heard nothing more. As a weekly passenger to LRH I check the news section on RA every week and apart from the usual government bashing headlines still nothing :-(
 14.

....my French registered car.... [:D]
Ergo it doesn't need a GB sticker [;-)]
No, but it need an "F" to take it to Spain (wife driving back from there today) or the UK .... [:D]
 15. I find them perfectly acceptable and use them every week STN -> LRH. I always buy the priority boarding not because I get on the plane quicker but because it allows me a little breathing space when leaving the office in London on Friday and gives me 40 mins more with the kids on a Sunday afternoon not having to drive to LRH 'with my hair on fire' to get there before checkin closes (even more useful now my car has French plates!) - an excellent use of £4 if ever there was one [:)] What I do find REALLY FUNNY is those people who check in hold baggage then pay the 'priority boarding upgrade' at the desk - Why ???? Even if by some miracle they made it to the very front row of emergency exit seats by the main door, ran off the plane, made it through customs at STN with no delays (impossible IMvHO) they still have to wait for their baggage at the carosel ...... ???? Oh well, gives us regulars something to talk about every week anyway [:D]
 16. Ooohh, may just have to go to that ......
 17.
I've got an alternative GB identifier, the steering wheel on the right (wrong) side. Not too many options there for origin......................[:D]
Until we brits again upset the balance as my French registered car has a steering wheel on the right .... [:D]
 18.
"Talking on a cell phone while driving, even with a hands-free headset, is illegal." It isn't illegal - according to the code de la route Art R412-6-1:   L'usage d'un téléphone tenu en main par le conducteur d'un véhicule en circulation est interdit.
Didn't bluetooth headsets used to be banned in France until very recently? Perhaps that's where the confusion is coming from ????
 19. Have to agree that he's a bit bonkers .... having ridden a few R1s it makes my nether regions cringe at the thought of going all the way around the world on one of them - definately not the most comfortable long distance cruiser [blink]
 20. Strictly speaking, the 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (to which France is a signatory) states that: "A distinguishing sign of the country of registration must be displayed on the rear of the vehicle. The physical requirements for this sign are defined in Annex 3 of the convention, which states that it must comprise black writing on a white oval background and that it must not form part of the vehicle's registration number." However, according to Wiki: In practice, the requirement to display the white oval is mutually waived between some countries, for example between many European countries (where the white oval may be substituted by a blue strip on the vehcle registration plate) and between Canada, the US & Mexico (where the state or province of registration is usually embossed on the vehcle registration plate). So in the true sense of the law, Expatica are right, however, IMHO you would be VERY unlucky to find a Gendarme who would cite you if you had the blue European country indicator on your vehicle. Both our UK cars and our French one have only the blue EU type GB or F identifier and we have never been stopped.
 21.
Having just used this new terminal (arriving at Dover) my advice is to allow extra time for Customs checks!
I'm suprised - I travelled with them over the Easter weekend. Travel out from dover was about 20 mins delayed but the weather was fine so no issues from the people waiting at the tables outside the cafe (although not completely finished, definately something you didn't get in the Eastern docks!). Return was perfect, boat left exactly on time from Boulogne and withing 5 mins of the ramp coming down in Dover we were off the boat and onto the M20 link road .... perfect! As many have said before, yes, they do have their problems and having only one vessel will always compound these issues, but if it wasn't for them the cross channel routes would still be as outrageously overpriced as they were 4 years ago .....
 22.
I am a quad rider. I use my quad as I can no longer ride a bike because I had my legs smashed by a car driver who had better things to do than look where he was going.
Ouch, been there, got two metal legs to proove it ..... 8 months in hospital and the thick end of a year not walking has a sobering effect on one (still want another bike though !!!). Still, all better now (pretty much) and I have no issue with quads (we have one and two KTM motox bikes too for the kids) as long as they are used sensibly and leagally there is no reason for everyone not to enjoy the open space.
 23. Which department are you in - we are in 17 and after a LOT of looking have found a few, happy to pass on if your in the area (not much use if your not hahaha .....).   Edit - just noticed that your in CM (doh!) .... PM if you want the best three we've found.
