1. I'm going on comments made by the IT guys I know, who I used to work with covering Formula One, so computers were fairly critical. IE8 has not be fully debugged, and WILL drag the system down with it! I avoid anything Microsoft for the internet as 99.99999% of viruses that appear on the the net are aimed at Microsoft and Mr Gates. I tend to keep my e mails on the servers site (you usually get 4gb of storage), much easier if your on Hotmail, and which usually has a "setable" spam filtering, and then Firefox as a browser. Touching wood heavily, I cannot remember the last time I was struck by a virus.
2. As I said, Garmin started in the 1940s, with the US Navy, but obviously not sat nav, just navigation in general! As for trusting them, I never have before, but the new one seems to have an in built "common sense" which is quite surprising. As yet the only draw back I have found is that if connected to my 'phone (it has bluetooth and become a very very good hands free) you can miss verbal instructions, but I can say absolutley no problems what so ever!
3. I have always used Garmin (they started with the US Navy in 1940 something so may have a clue). I've recently updated to a Garmin Nuvi 265W widescreen. Was told I could install 2010 maps for free, and set off for home (Belves in 24). I was always impressed by my older Garmins, but this was truely brilliant. Having calibrated the device with various bits of info' it told me my carbon footprint, how much the trip had cost, how much fuel I had used, and took us a route that was much quicker, and using the "Eco-route" setting saved us quite a lot in fuel. The news roads on route were on it, and we didn't get one bad bit of info'.  Speed limits appear on screen (very handy on some French roads where it can be a bit of guess work), and it has every speed camera on the route too. "Think" time was ultra quick, it gives distance to next turn, shows the junction/roundabout in advance and gives the road names, not just left or right, and to top it off, the "vehicle" I followed on the map was a Spitfire, which flew along the route. And it was only £150 from Amazon.co.uk. Highly recommended
4. 1.5 metres is the depth I was told, breathing became difficult down a pipe, it's not the depth of the drain! The drain is at the deep end of the pool which I would guess is 8 feet (in feet as I'm trying to remember who stood that end on the bottom and how much clearance there was above his head!!). My fault, I'll go and stand in the corner..............
5. Can the human lung suck enough air down 1.5 metres? We had discussed it, but it seemed a bit far fetched!
6. Haven't found anyone brave enough to try that either! As the drain is at the "deep end" (all of 1.5 metres) I thought human lungs wouldn't be strong enough to get the air down the pipe? although we have discussed it!
7. I wondered if there are any Scuba divers in the area of St Cyprien, Belves, Sarlat, who might be able to help us. After a few years, the properties of  chlorine has made the bottom drain cover go brittle, and it's started to break down. I've got a new one, but none of the people I know can stay down long enough to undo the two screws and change it. It's such a small job, that to even half empty the pool is a bit over the top, but if there is someone with a weight belt, and a small cylinder, it would take all of a minute to do!! So if anyone fancies a free lunch in exchange for 2 minutes diving, drop me a line!!

10. Well I have had two Gold Wings, and a Ducati, a FZR1000 ExupR, etc etc, so I disagree, a bit, Wing riders can be bikers. The GL1800s are a tad over the top, unless your doing starship Enterprise mileages, then why not!!??  Mine were a GL1000KZ (with the extra dials in the tank top) and a 1200 Aspencade, brought to do the "European tour", for which it was perfect, when I got home, it got sold and was replaced by a GSX1100!! Would I have another Wing, only if there was space in the garage (and change in the wallet) to have it, and three other bikes!
11. Indeed! Still I'm staggered I remembered the name at all!
12. I have one word for you "Clochemelle" .................
13. All very odd, I have two paper licenses, one photo license + paper copy, one Chinese license, and an AA world license, and somehow I think the UK government would still make it difficult................. Of course Michael, we still have our competition licenses, don't we??!!
14. There's a Chinese food specialists in Bergerac, or was last year, sells all sorts of cooking stuff and I'd be surprised if they didn't sell it.
15. What, the V twin??? 1000cc one? One turned up, buried under a shed in Weybridge, and is now on display at Brooklands. With bikes of this age, you never know what you'll find when you check the frame number, as the bloke who found out he had a certain Aircraftsman Shaw's Brough!!
16. There are rumours suggesting that LD Lines have either purchased, or made an offer for the old Speedferries Speed One, with a view to putting her back on it's old route, and quite soon. That begs for a couple of questions to be asked!!
17. There is a Ford equivelent of the Mazda Bongo (honestly!) which comes in various forms, lift up roofs, sinks, cookers etc etc, all factory fitted, there's usually several (in many of the forms) on Ebay if you want to have a look
18. As the person in our household that maintains, cleans, and uses our pool the most, and also the one dragged away from what I want to do to make sure the pool is usable by visitors, I have given it a lot of thought! I observe most people jump/dive in, swim a couple of lengths and then stand and chat (then get out, leave their towels and bits and pieces lying around), and my conclusion is, I'd rather have a hot tub. Smaller, easier, warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and cheaper!
19. I've known Dave Ryan for years, and he's carrying the can for someone, but I suppose he has to as he's the manager of the A car team. I suspect Dave reacted to what happened at Spa last year, so he insured Hamilton let Trulli re-take the position, what happened after that would never have been Dave's call.
20. I have to say, slightly staggered! One you consider where Mclaren are running, with the same engine and transmission, and that the Brawn was designed to have a Honda engine, and the conversion is, er, rudimentry, it's beggars belief! First debut pole since Jackie Stewart in the Tyrrell run March, and they could emulate Wolf with a debut win. For the first time since I stopped working in F1, I would really like to be involved again!
21. I had a large area to do in the UK once, on a budget. I brought some large cans of "forecourt" paint, e.g floor paint, but an exterior version, altough you could use marine paint or deck paint. One small. light brown, I rollered onto the concrete in lines, roughly like the joins in crazy paving, after masking it with half inch tape, I rollered the darker brown into the larger gaps. let it dry, pull off the tape, and it looked liked I had paved it, when I hadn't.
22. Not aware of a European version, but Blaupunkt are launching a Internet based web radio in Europe which should actually give more channels.
23. A friend of mine had a similar problem, and I did this for him, and on the EzeePc, with the small screen, he said he had trouble seeing the web pages. Func + or Func - will make the text bigger or smaller as well.
