  1. We ahve a house 45 mins drive north of Dijon and love the area very much. We bought the house last summer and it was lovely then, went back for 5 weeks at Christmas and it was cold (down to minus 13 at night and minus 10 during the day), lots of snow in fact magical. We are infact going back tomorrow for 10 days so we will see it in yet another season. Where we have our house hardly any English is spoken, but speaking the language is part of intergrating with local life. If you wish you can e-mail me on [email protected] with any queries you might have. I am not sure about Dijon itself, but there are English speakers dotted around the Cote D'Or but as far as I know not any groups where they meet up.
  2. Time will fly by and you will soon be living the dream! Our house is in the Cote D'Or, near to Veneray Les Laumes and we spent 5 weeks there from 27th December to 30 January. It was certainly different being there in winter as opposed to Summer/Autumn, the last time we were there, but just as wonderful. It was a time to see the area in contrast. We had snow, which made the area really beautiful and we spent more time mixing with the locals. When we visited Dijon we only met French people. We are going back 1 April for 10 days and then at the end of May, and personally I cannot wait. We are already retired and I would love to live there permenantly. We would like to hear from people in Cote D'Or departement (21), as when you are new to an area it is good to know someone in the vicinity. Whenever you are in Burgundy it will be fantastic. Each season brings something new, just take advantage of the Spring to be able to visit the cafes etc. without tourists! We have a local cafe off the beaten track and just hope the tourists don't find it! Good luck on your move and just love every moment of it.
  3. The Morvan is beautiful, lots of small villages and the towns are not very large. We originally thought of that area to buy our house but ended up with our house near to Flavigny-sur-Ozerain by accident. My husband picked up one of the property magazines from outside an estate agent and we saw the house in one of the little adds. It just went on from there. If you do end up in the Morvan there are a few English people, a lot of Dutch and some friendly helpful locals and the Morvan itself is very interesting and lovely.
  4. Having spent two wonderful weeks in Burgundy we have found a little house in a hamlet near to the source de la Seine. We have had our offer accepted and have to return to France to sign the papers, then the house will be ours. We want to integrate with the villagers but are there any other English in that area, north of Dijon? It is a beautiful area and we hope to be happy there.
