C/T wrote,    ebaynut wrote: .... if you had perhaps read the next paragraph in my post you would see I had gone on to explain why he could not have even had a say in the negotiations to leave the EU, yet alone ever be PM..   Actually he will technically because he will still be an MEP and MEP's will get to vote on any "deal" to do with Brexit. His words by the way after somebody asked why he was still there.   Err, No, the terms of the exit deal will be negotiated by the members of the cabinet and MP’s. His words were ‘ he cannot be a part of the negotiations, but as an MEP will be watching like a hawk to make sure there is no sell out’.
  2. I must say that I thought David Cameron's last PMQ’s was very good, even Mr Corbyn showed another side to himself. Cameron really is a good speaker, like Blair (who I blame for the worlds problems) but being educated at Eton, one would expect nothing less.   I know you don't like Boris Mint, and if you watched Andrew Neil on the ‘This Week’ show last night, I apologise for telling it again, but he did make me laugh when he quipped    ‘ When Teresa May pencilled in FO next to Boris Johnsons name, she did not mean Foreign Office’  [:D]  [:D]
  3. Chancer wrote, I'll be taking down the signature soon.   Having one really isnt me and I said that I would never have one, no problems with those of you that do, whatever floats your boat, its just "not my thang baby"!  Sure, I know what you mean. I never used one until I noticed Bettys, in support of IS, so thought, ' if its good enough for Betty, then why not'  [I]
  4. PaulT, I see that you live in Lincolnshire, clearly I don't know where, but guess you are nearer to Boston than any other poster on this forum. Why do you think that is was only 75% of the voters in this town, which has been over run with people from outside the UK who voted to leave? Are there really 25% of voters there who are exploiting the 'newcomers' in some way that wanted them to stay so much they voted to remain? I have never been to the town, so don't know it, but it has been featured many times in TV programs lately.
  5. Lindal wrote,   EBay nut..I know it's just a technicality, but before Nigel Forage can be prime minister he has to first become a member of parliament.   Thank you for your enlightening post, you may notice that I did state, that is what I would like to see, however Nigel does not  want the job, ( and frankly I cant think why anyone would) and if you had perhaps read the next paragraph in my post you would see I had gone on to explain why he could not have even had a say in the negotiations to leave the EU, yet alone ever be PM..     I also noticed that you stated earlier in one of your posts that it could be another twenty years before the UK would see any benefit from leaving the EU, and you would be eighty by then, so selfish, what about the next generations, what about our kids, do you not want a better world for them moving forward?? However I guess we have a different view of what is better, luckily, the majority share my view and won the referendum. The EU will soon be fast disappearing in the rear view mirror.
  6. How strange that those who appear to hate the UK and its people the most are all remainians and voted for us in the UK to suffer further by staying in the EU, well hooray, its not happening, we are leaving, thank you Nigel, we really would never have achieved this without your wonderful contributions.   Great selection from Mrs May, don't you all think, such a promising future awaits us, I expect you will all be looking forward, as I am to this   Great new signature Chancer, spot on as far as I am concerned, I do prefer mine though, but I guess others may not.  [;-)]
  7. C/T wrote, Racism (and hate crime) is what makes me ashamed. Most newspapers have covered this over the last week with a 47% increase in the amount of racist abuse including violence. Just Google "Rise in UK racism" and are loads of reports across all the newspapers from both the left to right wing. I hate any form of "ism" and it seems that many in the UK have seen the excuse of the UK voting to leave as open season against anyone who is not British.   I wonder what your views on the Dallas shooting of five white police officers, by an African American who’s main aim was to kill white people??  Now that's a real race hate crime, not someone calling names, or writing on the side of an English building. If there was a ‘white lives matter’ group you would say its racist, but ‘black lives matter’ is OK I guess, its OK to have a MOBO awards, but if there was a MOWO awards, then that would be racist?? I would also like to point out its unfair as there is a unit of the met set up to deal with Black gun crime in the London area ( operation Trident) Google it if you have never heard of it. Why is there none for investigating white gun crime in London?? Answer, because there is not enough of it.
  8. Its good to see the remain supporters on this forum seem to have grasped the idea that Britain is leaving the EU. ( boy that was good to write)  Perhaps the reason many who supported a BRexit have not posted their views is because there have been so many incorrect statements made on this forum by those smarting over their defeat, it seems best just to let them get on with their whinges, poor losers can be quite entertaining. First they clung to the hope that there was to be a petition to overthrow the result of the referendum, when it turns out 40, 000 of those that signed the petition were from the Vatican city, and of course not eligible to vote was bad enough, but when less than 800 people live there anyway, it becomes laughable.   So, Rabbie, as you asked, lets put a few things straight,   As you know I am a great supporter of UKIP, but not a member, I would never join any political party as I will not give my unquestioning support to any one party. But I did contribute to the UKIP fund by way of a donation, to help them fight the huge resources which  the Remain campaign had backing them finically, people like Goldman-Sachs and others with deep pockets, so felt if I could help in some small way I would. Please note, I gave to UKIP, not Vote Leave.   I would like Nigel Farage to be our prime minister, but as he has always said, he is not a career politician, he is only in politics to get the UK out of the EU. So mission accomplished, after 25 years of hard toil to get us here, it only seems right that he should now get his life back. I have read on this forum how he should be made to see the negotiations though, as he has lead us to where we are now. Well, he cant, he is not in the cabinet, he is not even an MP, so he cant do anything about the next stage, even if he wanted to. He has carried out his ambition, and how many politicians can say that??    Also remember, it was not Nigel's bus which had £350M  plastered on the side.   Moving forward, there is no reason what so ever for the UK to accept free movement of people to access the single market. America, Australia and many other countries sell into the EU and they don't have to accept the free movement of people, and neither will the UK. Even if the UK had to accept WTR, then this would be better than the deal we have at present, as we would not have to pay a ‘fee’ to be in the club, there may be tariffs to pay, but as we buy more from the EU, then they sell us, we would be getting more from them then they would take from us.   I will buy wine from other than France if I need to, I will holiday in other than France if needs be,  many people will buy other than German or French cars, ( why would anyone buy a French car anyway??) if the tariff is too high.  This is why as Nigel says, we need to be ‘grown up’ about the negotiations.   The UK Should NOT accept free movement of people after we leave. Personally I think we should activate article 50 yesterday, and get this whole mess over with. Living in the UK for people not born here is not a right, it is a privilege, they must earn the right to be here, not just be allowed to come here because it is in their best interests, and not the UK’s.   I think everything is panning out far better than I thought it would, this far anyway.    Teresa May would not have been my first choice, but she would not have been my last either, so I am fairly happy for now, lets see what the next few weeks bring, as Nigel said in his victory speech on the Friday after the Referendum , ‘even the weather has improved’, all we need now is for Mr T to win in November, and the world might finally be getting back on track.
  9. W/B wrote,   What really pisses me off about your post, ebaynut is that you imply that I might be a Socialist - that is deeply insulting, my friend, but I wont report you to management as you did me.   I can 100% assure you that I have NEVER EVER reported anyone on this forum to management, as you call it.   I contacted Forum admin, as a mod had locked a thread on which you have been abusive, I clearly stated that I was not bothered about what had been posted, but thought it unfair of the mod to have locked the post, thus ending the debate,  If they choose to delete your comments, then that was not down to me. Your poor choice of words brought that about. My complaint was about the mods action in locking the thread.   As you know, after further discussion among the mods, the thread was re-instated, believe me, I do not report members for what they do,or say.
  10. W/B wrote,   Cajal, I spoke as I saw and found and heard. And, it is what the cars stand for, or perhaps what the buyers think they stand for that interested me. If that ‘interests’ you, you really need to get help. It is simple really,  plain jealousy, bit like the French people in the rural areas, who claim they hate people from Paris, they don't hate them really, they are jealous of them and what they have. Its not a pretty thing, but you really need to move on from this feeling of inadequacy or your health will suffer.  All your anti British racist ranting will take a toll, get over it, and  thank God that we still live in a democracy and we the majority wanted out of the EU, so out it is   That being said, I did not speak to any white van drivers with their flags flying wearing 'Ah wanna get owt' as I assumed what their attitudes were likely to be.   I think you assume too much, if you don't ask them, how can you know?? By the way, I think one of those cars is Indian, though built in the UK.   Perhaps if you read the post properly, you would have noticed that Cajal had mentioned that one was Indian.
  11. W/B wrote, Hello Chancer, surprised you didnt know what 'dog in a manger' means. But, in this case, one post at least objected to money from national budgets going, via Europe, to help the new and poorer members of the EU. (Though they seem to have missed a trick, as the richer the poorer get, the less need they will have to leave their country and get jobs elsewhere, meaning England).   No, the EU will just take another poor country into the fold and spend on them, as ‘grants’ which will give the EU council control over them. ( think Greece here) He who holds the purse strings, rules the world, and that is the ultimate game plan. In other words, UK has the means to help which it wont or cant use itself for its own purposes but is determined to stop others getting any of it.   Other countries must work for their own needs, and  not get given what generations of the British have had to work hard for.   Imagine Farage standing in a giant pot of British money (or the equivalent) which is sleeping and unused and swinging a large stick at other, much poorer and even hungry people, to stop them getting a bit.   This is the part where socialists always seem to get confused, they seem to confuse my money with theirs. Now, if I had been a cartoonist, that would have been a good picture!   If its up to your literary standards, I am none too hopeful. [:P]
  12. N/C wrote, I'm looking for work... so if Complete France want to hire me, I am available. Thanks ebaynut for drawing their attention to me.   No probs, Caroline baby, no probs [:D]
  13. Call me suspicious if you will, but I did think maybe ‘Normandy Caroline’ is in fact a journalist for the complete France group, who now finding they need to get some articles out about this great turn of events before the deadline, and so asked the question to gauge reaction and get ideas. Never posted before, but had a lifetime  ‘dream’ of buying in France and was near to signing, then suddenly this probing thread.  Read the first post again, and see what you think. [Www]   As a side issue, I think Liam Fox would make a good Prime minister, I would like to see him stand.
  14. I think Caroline, that before you fall out with your mother over this matter, you perhaps need to have pointed out some of the facts as to why she voted the way she did.   When the UK voted to join the common market some 40 odd years ago, it was as a trading area with countries which were more or less equal to the UK in standards of living and outlook. It was never going to integrate further than just trading partners, or so we were told at the time of the vote.   As every closer union within Europe started to take place, many raised concerns about it. We were told if constitution change were every to happen then we in the UK would be allowed a referendum on it.   Well as we all know change did happen, and the vote was put to the people of Ireland who rejected it. So the EU reworded it and made the Irish vote again, till they got the result the EU wanted. The same happened in France and the Netherlands.   This was know as a treaty, the ever so nice Mr Blair, said it was not constitution change and therefore a referendum was not needed.  This was a lie, but he got away with it. He knew the British people would never have agreed to it, so never gave us the chance to kick it out.   Then in 2005, the EU expanded and allowed the eastern former soviet countries to join the club. The result was mass movement of people from these poor areas into the UK, and they could now by the rights they had achieved by joining the free movement area, have the ability to live in the UK.  Of course, we from the UK could live in Poland, if we wanted. I wonder how many went?   The UK filled up with these migrants at an alarming rate, and the people of the UK did not like it one bit. Mention immigration, and you were a racist, and this has gone on and on and on. Plus they have tried to take the rights of the UK to fully govern itself.   Finally at last, thanks to one man Nigel Farage, we managed to get a referendum, and the people who were old enough to know how this all came about voted to the leave the EU.   So, the person to blame for the present situation we all find ourselves in is Mr Blair. Had he allowed us to vote back in the early part of this century, then we would never have gone down this path in the first place, and could be in a far better place then we are now.   Although this divorce will be painful for many, I would like to quote from a solicitor, who when asked why divorces are so expensive, he replies, ‘because they are worth it’  Had we have not been forced into this by the Blair government, none of this would be happening now.   So please don't hate your mother for the way she voted, she was doing what she thought and believed was best. However she had voted would not have changed the result.    Also take into account her generation lived through the war with Germany, they and their parents died to protect us from German rule, we should never give away this right to govern ourselves EVER.   Happily, there are still enough people in the UK who could see the past and where the EU was taking us against our will, now this has been rectified.  So move to France, enjoy your life, do the things you want to do, life is short, enjoy it while you can.
  15. Rabbie wrote,   Once again, EBN, you seem to have got some things wrong so allow me to respectfully correct you.     No, I was just fishing, guessed something among what I had wrote would have got you to reveal more. [:P]
  16. R/H wrote   >>Now the country is flooded with people from overseas, most of who will vote remain<< If most of them had a vote you would be right, but a very great many don't have one so you may rest assured whatever the decision it will be the British who make it     The trouble is how you and me define ‘British’.   As the polls show its close, it only takes a few newcomers to alter events.  As I have said before I am sure project fear will win through and we will remain in the EU, I am also sure Boris will be our next PM, and also certain Trump will take the US in November.  Lets hope so.   I see that the ‘in’ camp has been attacking the UKIP poster again, they don't want us in the UK to be reminded about what is to come when we remain in the EU. I thought it was a great poster, I am glad they have spent my donation wisely, this picture (I am told ) was in all the major papers earlier in the year.  The main difference to this and the ‘in’ camps comparison to Germany 1930/40 is that these people are all trying to get in, the others back then would have loved to get out, and were detained against their will.
  17. Chancer wrote, You can count me in for a threesome on Friday  [:D]  [:D] [:D]  [:D] I am sure Betty would be highly delighted by your kind offer.
  18. Betty wrote, There is only one thing that we can be certain of, which is that, when we all wake up on Friday morning, it will be to the same country, the same problems and the same issues we had on Thursday night, at least as far as we are each, individually concerned. Finally we agree on something. [:D]
  19. R/H wrote, Yes! rather like Boris 's Independence Day closer last night - it's all icing and no cake.....too many clever remarks and not enough substance... Ebaynut, rest assured If Boris and Trump triumph we'll make a special thread for you to deal with complaints ;-)
  20. I find rather odd the comments from the government about our GDP will fall if we leave the EU. But where does all the money from this high GDP go, why to the global multinational companies who now run the world with their brought politicians and not the workers, its a know fact that the richest few get richer while the workers get poorer. Many have zero hours contracts, so have no hope for the future. So many claim working tax credits, as their wages are so low, even police officers have do this.   Why do the politicians not do something to stop it, well its simple, they are lining their own pockets. Have a look at how much they charge for a speech. Tony Blair has been paid as much as £100K a head for speaking to people.   No-one pays that much to hear someone speak, its just a legal way to give him payments, and win favours from him.   Politicians who took us in the European exchange rate mechanism at the end of the eighties, they sure knew what they were doing . I can remember ‘enjoying’ Interest rates at nearly 16%, great when you have a large mortgage and two young kids. I was one of the ones who was able to make this pay back in the mid/late nineties as there were so many people who had lost their homes bargains were everywhere, but what of all those people (and these were mostly genuine British people, being before the flood gates had been opened up by Blair) they lost everything in this government master plan.   Then they wanted to take us into the Euro, that would have been a major disaster as well, why the Brown did not I really don't know, it was the sort of thing I would have expected from him after selling all the gold off at rock bottom prices.   And now they wish to try to tell us we are better of in the EU, they took us in by deception, we were promised a referendum years ago, but Blair sneaked in the treaty and said we did not need a vote on it.   Now the country is flooded with people from overseas, most of who will vote remain, it is sad to see the lack of faith the people in this country have, in our ability to take back our place in the world.   I see Rabbie at the end of your posts you have a new ‘ditty’       There are some causes worth dying for - there are no causes worth killing for" Albert Camus       That is the sort of comment you believe in I guess, so the Germanys plans to invade the UK back in the war, would  have not made you want to kill anyone then who tried to invade this country, rape the women and kill your mother ???   Just so long as you would not have to do it, you would not mind others if they did I guess.   No wonder you don't believe in the UK, I wonder are you even English/British??
  21. W/B wrote, I wonder, given the criteria laid out above, how the lucky immigrants who might be accepted into the Greater Britain would be chosen, assuming several equally qualified candidates for the same post or usefulness and benefit to the UK (perhaps, in fact, England alone)? Would they all be tall and blonde with blue eyes? Or golfers?   Well, lets say, it would not hurt their chances. What would happen to these people who might interact with an English person and, dare I say it, breed? Would they be allowed to stay or would the family be split at the end of the work contract?   No, they would all be free to leave the UK and stay together after contracts end. It would be unfair and inhumane to suggest otherwise. Frankly the logical conclusion of the programme suggested above by ebaynut is alarming in the extreme.   You have not seen plan ‘B’ yet!!!!!!!!!!!!  [Www] I am in London for a few days and must say how much I am enjoying the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the city and the people I interact with; they make life a pleasure. Oh, by the way, thus far, not one of them seems to be British born and bred, judging by their accents. It would be such a pity to lose this to arrant nationalism.   I am sure you fit in nicely in todays ‘diverse’ capital.  I believe (and I may be wrong) that the correct etiquette to address people in London these days  is ‘ please don't hurt me, here is my wallet and my I phone, please take it’    It looks like the weather may be slightly better today, I hope you enjoy your trip.   I hear Bobby Geldof is running boat trips by the palace of Westminster, perhaps that would be worth a look.
  22. R/H, Here is your link, I have read it, and I would say its fair comment. I would point to the part which states the EOE is more likely to vote to leave than those in London. I fully agree with this statement, most of London has been taken over by immigrants so would expect nothing else. This is because, has W/B has pointed out above, he has not seen a 'British born and bred'  face on his current trip to our capial, the reason of course is that is anyone who is English and cant afford to live in the 'westminster village' has long moved out, except the really really poor. The good thing is a lot of London town is still owened by Brits, stacking their accounts on super high rents, so its not all bad.
  23. W/B wrote,   So, Trump is not a racist? Try http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-racist-examples_us_56d47177e4b03260bf777e83 So, Trump is an upright and honest citizen? Try http://www.wsj.com/articles/trump-university-fraud-suit-to-go-to-trial-judge-rules-1461707442 (grateful is someone could make the links active) As usual, ebaynut, no attempt to deal with the issues. I was not referring to whether I cared about what the Brits do but what the rest of the world thought, and, believe me, they do not give a fig for what Britain does as she doesn't count much more than a heap of beans in the new world order.   Ah quotes from the ‘Huff’ you sure must be scrapping low to post from that ‘diverse’ source. If you had read my post, it was not addressed to you, or asking for quotes, it was asking a straight question to a specific member on their view.   Well if the ROTW does not care a fig what the UK does, why do they keep on about why we should stay, according to you, you would think they would be as glad to lose us as I would be to separate from them??   Someone also mentioned the UKIP posters, great don't you think, showing streams of migrants entering the EU, nice to know my donation to the party is being put to good use.  [:P]   And no, I don't think for one minute the UK will leave the EU, even if the majority vote to leave, the government will find a way to keep us in, too many ‘brown envelopes’ handed out for them to allow the UK to leave.
  24. Andy h4 wrote, Ebaynut Immigration - and I promise not to play the race card   Thank you for a good set of questions, I will try to asnwer some below for you. From the strength of your post and your statement that the UK could tailor the number of immigrants to those that it needed and could handle, I assume (and I could be wrong) that you would favour a significant reduction from the levels that are currently in the UK.   You are correct in your assumption. Let us assume that were possible (and forget about the Vienna Convention and whether that may or may not apply - I actually doubt it does). So if you could be in control of the current migrants, who would you be sending back home?   Anyone who has a criminal record. Anyone who commits a crime in the UK. Anyone who cannot show a legitimate source of income to support their lifestyle. Anyone who has not had employment after three months, for starters. Personally, I would then like to see anyone who has not lived in the UK for at least 15 years, and is not from the original common market area removed, but I know this will not happen, but as I said this my own view. I ask this in all seriousness, because as far as I can see immigration is going to go in the other direction. The NHS will be receiving a lot more money, but the UK does not have the number of nurses, doctors and technical staff to cope now, let alone with more hospitals, surgeries etc.. So I see immigration as the solution.   For a starter we should treat our present health workers better. The latest tussle between Mr Hunt and the junior doctors is a disgrace, many of these young doctors, who have cost the country much money to train are now heading for Australia, and who can blame them they way the government treat them. I was talking only last week to a nurse at the largest hospital in Cambridge where we are regular visitors, she told me that the NHS no longer provides tea or coffee for the staff, even the top docs, have to supply their own. They all have to pay £2.50 a day to park at their place of work, she told me that she even has to buy pens, as the NHS will no longer supply them. When her children leave school, she will leave the NHS she tells me, as the way it is now she fells there is no point in carrying on in that field. When the government can get immigrants to work for minimum wage, and as many are prepared to live in small rooms, so they can sent some of the money they earn to their families overseas, they will have no need to pay British workers the money they need to live a decent life. More is going to be spent on schools and education, but the UK does not produce enough teachers - in fact for several years there have been vacant places in teacher training courses. Such is the way governments have degraded a profession to a handle turning exercise where STATS and GCSEs are the only success criteria. So extra teachers will come from where? Immigration?   Many Many good teachers have left because of the work conditions imposed by governments, one lady I know was a head teacher in a large school in Harlow Essex, she tells me that with all the children entering school these days, are large percentage are from overseas, many cannot even speak basic English, some do not even know how to use a toilet, so much of their time is spent on these basic things, so the poor old English kids get left to play while teacher spends time on a few. She was looking for another career path, and she had been a teacher all her life, must have cost a fortune again to train, but value her, no, just let her go. If we treated teachers properly there would soon be enough home grown ones to cope with the English children. Who is going to work in the fields on a cold December day picking the vegetables for Christmas? Brits do not seem to want to do it. Or are we going to force the population into the fields against their will? Pol Pot tried that and it was not the greatest success.   When I was young, it was always the traveling community who worked the fields around Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire, ( which is why to this day there are large numbers of travellers in these areas)  but what happened there ? they were paid small amounts as you would expect, so many claimed benefits and at the time there was not working credits, just unemployment benefit, so they claimed this while earing a few pounds on the side. What happened, well in went the government agency's, and took them to court, result was no workers on the fields, then came the chance to bring in people from overseas, to who what was a poor wage to a UK worker, was huge to them, so came they did. I don't blame them, it was all part of the government plan. Let the fields stay empty for all I care,  if the farmer paid a proper wage, it would attract more workers, so the only winners in this low paid game is the rich farmer. So who would you be sending home? And don't say the illegals because they get sent home anyway when the have been found.
