  1. The only answer is to sink the boats they cross the Med in, or just leave them and let nature take it course. If armed guards turned them back from Europe , it should stop the next load from leaving, as it is, they see the boats are being ‘rescued’ on the news. so more and more will come. As most speak English, guess where they will head. There was one young black male being interviewed on TV the night before last, he told of his sorry tale, of friends killed on the way, then he supposedly ‘broke down’, his acting was of a standard he could secure a role in east enders when he does arrive here.
  2. Rabbie, How you think that my post was abusive is beyond me, you must live a very sheltered life. As has been correctly stated, many white English train in the NHS, but when are offered the chance of higher wages and better conditions elsewhere in the world choose to leave. And do you blame them, if the UK wont pay a proper wage, you know the old saying, ‘pay peanuts’. So they trot off to better climes with richer pickings, and we have to put up with what's left in the UK. Another reason many leave (and I know one personally who did leave after many years in the service for this very reason) is they don't actually wish to work with so many immigrants, and really, who can blame them?? As you watch the UK news, you would no doubt have seen the 1000+ boat ‘people’ the Royal Navy took on board one of their ships yesterday alone, these sailors had to wear protective masks as it was said they did not know what diseases the boarders may have. And some want these people to be allowed to stay in Europe, ARE WE MAD!!!, Only Friday, the Border agency found sixty plus illegals in the rear of four lorries driven by polish drivers at an east coast port. They took some of the illegals to Colchester hospital for treatment. My wife has no immune system, suppose they had been taken to a hospital my wife was attending?? Why should our government allow this, why should my wife's very life be put at risk by allowing them in, and did they have to wait for hours in A&E, or did they get seen straight away?? All this time Dave is off at a G7 summit sucking up to Merkel & Hollande and the way he was with Obama, well, penetration may have taken place. Latest is, Dave says he will sack Conservatives who do not want to stay in the EU, he really is a spineless leader for sure. I am so glad I did not vote for him, I always have voted Conservative in the past, but I have never believed he would give a fair in/out referendum, so I choose UKIP this time round. There was no danger that Labour would have taken the seat in my area, as you could have put up a monkey to stand here and if it wore a blue rosette it would have won. Unfortunately the party I would liked to have voted for did not have a candidate available here.
  3. Rabbie wrote, The danger of quoting something like this is that it gives credence to some of the myths surrounding immigration to the UK. It is beyond dispute that without immigrant workers the NHS would not be able to function. As Lindal1000 says the UK government does not run food banks but some people reading the post may well think so. In my opinion this issue is too important to decided by people's misunderstanding of the real situation. The decision should be made on the basis of facts not on myths, perceptions and misunderstandings This is indeed so, so why do you keep banging on with your lie ‘It is beyond dispute that without immigrant workers the NHS would not be able to function’ Total and utter rubbish!!!, the NHS would be a far better place without immigrants in it. If you took all the people in the UK that are employed trying deal with, and to keep the immigrant population under control, such as the Police, social workers, child support agencies, immigration control, border force, crime detection agencies, social workers, officers in operation trident in London, MI5, anti terrorist units, add to them the cost to the legal system in dealing with immigrants, providing homes to them, as none have anything of worth to bring into the UK and this is just to name a few, if all the people in the above named professions were to be employed in the NHS, there would be no shortage. Its just that the government prefer to offer peanuts in pay in the NHS, that it seems to attract immigrants. If they paid a proper wage, many of the people in the aforementioned professions, would no doubt be happy to work in the NHS. Then if you deduct the number of immigrants who use the NHS from the figures, the amount of staff needed would also be far less. Watch the UK news, see the crimes and air time that is taken up with immigrants, perhaps then you will agree, we really do NOT need them here.
  4. "The greatest thing about the internet, is that you can quote something and totally make up the source." - George Washington.
  5. So W/B, are you saying that when you said, 'relatively unsophisticated voters ' you did not mean white van man ??
  6. Perhaps Lindal1000 you should read the first line of the post, but in case you missed here it is again, I guess this ‘bird feeder’ joke has been around awhile now, but it does illustrate the situation quite nicely I am sure you will agree. Its just a copy/paste jobby !
  7. Patf wrote, ebaynut wrote: 'a man who is thought to be typical of drivers of white vans by being being rude, not well educated and having very strong, unpleasant opinions.' This is an offensive definition. We have a white van, and before this one we had another. And we argue strongly that the UK should stay in the EU. Patf, If you had taken the trouble to read this whole thread, and in particular page six, you would have known that this quote was originally posted by W/B, I merely replied to it with the comment, ‘I think they could be right on this. It is indeed a fair assessment of the Yodel delivery driver who calls here occasionally, he is Polish BTW’. I have now edited my post to show it was indeed his quote (and no doubt opinion) and not mine.
  8. I guess this ‘bird feeder’ joke has been around awhile now, but it does illustrate the situation quite nicely I am sure you will agree. The Bird Feeder I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it lovingly with seed. It was indeed a beautiful bird feeder. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food. But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table and next to the barbecue. Then came the bird 5hit. It was everywhere; on the patio tile, the chairs, the table... everywhere! Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. And others birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food. After a while, I couldn't even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone.I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio. Soon, the back yard was like it used to be ... quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal. Now let's see.... Our government gives out free food, subsidized housing, free medical care, and free education and allows anyone born here to be an automatic citizen. Then the illegal?s came by the millions. Suddenly our taxes went up to pay for free services; small apartments are housing 5 or more families; you have to wait 6 hours to be seen by a doctor in an emergency room because it is filled with illegals; Your child's 2nd grade class is behind other schools because over half the class doesn't speak English. Corn Flakes now come in a bilingual box; I have to 'press one' to hear my bank talk to me in English, and people waving flags other than 'The Union Jack' are squawking and screaming in the streets, demanding more rights and free liberties. It?s just my opinion but: Maybe, just maybe, it's time for the government to take down the damn bird feeder
  9. W/B wrote, 'a man who is thought to be typical of drivers of white vans by being being rude, not well educated and having very strong, unpleasant opinions.' (Cambridge Dictionaries Online) I think they could be right on this. It is indeed a fair assessment of the Yodel delivery driver who calls here occasionally, he is Polish BTW.
  10. Pickles wrote. I'm really not sure how leaving the EU will reduce illegal immigration. It might reduce legal immigration of EU citizens, but that's it. Are migrants from within the EU a problem? Thank you for your question, let me explain further. I am not personally concerned if the high number of people entering the UK are deemed as ‘legal’ or ‘illegal’, I see no difference other than some authority I disagree with has deemed them as such. Leaving the EU will bring numbers down who enter for sure. When the EU was just places like Germany, France, Netherlands etc, then there was no problems, similar country's with similar views and ways of life. When the eastern bloc joined, millions who were in poverty in their home countries could move to the more prosperous places, (and I don't blame them for doing so), but come in their droves they did, and the UK is filling up fast because people like Tony Blair set out to deliberately change the UK. Now many of these people from the first wave came to the UK to work, and better themselves, but then the next wave came as more joined the EU. Russia is a ‘gangster’ style country, and the nearer to there you get the more crimes you get, and now they can all enter, bringing their ‘enterprises’ with them. Just see the crime watch program for more details. But they are not the worst of the immigrants to the UK, sure they want our money, homes and country, but it does not end there, because there are others coming here, setting up mosques where ever they can and blowing us up, hacking our solders to death in the streets, raping our young vulnerable children, of which there have been many instances of. Just last night another gang in Oxford were on the news following dawn raids. Now we have the boat people landing in Greece, they will be allowed to stay in Europe of course, they will be processed, given EU passports, then they will be ‘legal’ to enter the UK, when the brexit happens, our borders will be tighter, and they will not then be allowed in. Too late as far as I am concerned, but better late than never.
  11. WB wrote, During the election campaign, it was said that UKIP appealed to 'white van man'. Seems about right to me! Perhaps you would care to expand on what you mean by ‘white van man’?
  12. Of course, the UK is one of the best places to live in the world, and since Mr Blair opened the door, the world and his camel can enter. How do we feed all these people? The UK is a net importer of food, so we don't have a surplus of the stuff. Where do we house them? I am always hearing that there are not enough houses in the UK, but that's rubbish, there are loads of houses in the UK, acres and acres of our beautiful countryside is getting covered to make more. There is no shortage of houses, It too many people that's the problem, The UK is full, if mainland Europe and Greece wish to save boat people then they should let them stay in their lands, we don't want or need them in the UK. Come the brexit in the next year or so, it should help to stop this constant flow of people from around the world arriving here, and its LONG overdue.
  13. Norman wrote, I disagree that there is no difference. Voting for a temporary government is not the same as what amounts to a constitutional change. There might be an argument for no right to vote on temporary issues, although many other countries wouldn't agree, but it seems an essential part of citizenship to be able to vote on more permanent issues. Indeed, it is such a big issue, that we should have had a referendum years ago on this, instead of Blair telling us that the treaty was no big deal. Now thankfully we may get one, and we can at last get out of this mess once and for all!! (Hooray) I had to laugh when Ireland had a vote on the treaty and said no, the EU then spent a fortune on ‘educating’ the Irish, had another vote, got the result they wanted, and then Blair said there was no need for us in the UK to have a vote. For what Blair has done to this country and indeed most of the world with his buddy George, I would personally like to nominate Mr Blair for the leading role in the next IS video, perhaps they could do it pay to view, I would tune into that and happily pay to see it.
  14. I personally believe that the Scottish people should not be allowed to vote in the EU referendum. Ms Sturgeon has already stated that if the UK as a whole votes to leave, then the Scottish parliament will seek to negotiate a way to stay in. Well, if they are not going to abide by the result of the UK referendum, then they should not be allowed to participate. Perhaps if this did happen and Scotland stayed in and England left, maybe we could send all the people who arrive in the UK, (who are not British subjects with HIV and expect the British taxpayer to treat them), over the wall for the Scots to sort out as they seem so pleased for the English to pay.
  15. Q wrote, You could try Ukip, some of their members seem to think the same way as Le Pen. No 5hit!!!!!!! Thank you for pointing that out, I had not made the connection before.
  16. 17. Pommier wrote, eybaynut, Val 2 didn't say that everyone in Bretagne is ignorant, but that the FN is popular amongst the ignorant and the older generations in her area. So everyone who does not agree with Val2’s view of the world is ignorant then?? or do some of the ignorant vote for Hollande ??
  18. Quillan wrote, I think the allies did more physical damage to France than the Germans did and over a longer period. I expect you are right, that the allies did more physical damage to the area than the Germans , I would have thought what they inflicted on the population was more important than mere building being destroyed however. Please note that I did state ‘outsiders’ and not Germans.
  19. Val 2 wrote. but xenophobia is rife here in Bretagne, homeland of the LePenn family especially amongst the ignorant and older generations who have never left their own communes let alone travelled abroad or even met a person of another ethnicity - seems many are afraid of being overrun by "furriners" I had to smile when I read this bit. I guess the last time that this area had a large influx of foreigners or ‘outsiders’ was circa 1939-45. I doubt the visitors then did much to ender themselves to the local population, hence they are, in your view ‘ignorant’ because of a dislike of outsiders I am surprised that if that is your opinion of the people local to you that you moved there and stayed.. Remember they had no choice in you moving near them, you did. Its no wonder if they feel this way to people of another ethnicity or country, if as in your case, you move into their area, and call them, and here I very much quote your words ‘ignorant’. They were there first, what right have you to move into their area and judge them like this.
  20. I doubt shouting at each other would be the order of the day if those three were on question time. In private I am sure they all have very similar views. But if there was a fight I wonder who would win?? Could be anyone one, ask Jeremy to decide, he has a great way of choosing. eany, meany, mieny, mo,..........
  21. Q wrote, Still at the end of the day it is all irrelevant really because Ukip won't be in power, there won't be a referendum. Labour will get in because of Tory vote defectors to Ukip and the number of Ukip MP's will be between three and five with the possibility of one for there newer MP's (Reckless) not even able to hang on to his seat in a general election. The only people Labour will do a deal with are the SNP, which I disaprove of by the way. The whole thing no doubt will be a total ballsup but then I guess you have to be careful what you wish for. I have just got off the blower to Nigel, and told him the above. He is gutted, as am I. We both thought we were in for a clear UKIP majority in May. Nigel wants to know where I found out about this, I told him from a man on the French Forum, so it must be true. What we both want to know is how long have you known about this for, and why you have failed to mention anything about it in the past ??
  22. Ok so really what you're saying with regards to your house is that it was down to choice of property and the economic collapse which is not really the fault of the EU or the Euro. Indeed the Euro bounced back quite quickly in comparison to say sterling which is just about back to where it should be after seven years. Quite an achievement by the Tories regardless of how anyone feels about them. That, I should say, is not a criticism of your financial prowess rather than bad luck and just one of those things. If we could all foretell the future I wouldn't be typing this but would be sitting in the sun somewhere by the side of my pool in my million pound house having won the lottery several times. According to the Nationwide website the average house price in 2007 (Q4) was £183k and in 2014 (Q4) was £189k, a rise on average of £6k. It was only the last nine months of 2014 that the average house price rose above that of 2007. The Ukip policy is not inline with France (which is inline with the EU) because it is only if you don't work and your not a state pensioner that you need private health insurance. If you work you pay into the system therefore your entitled to use it just the same as anyone else. Don't forget that just like many Brits who are at, or over, state pension age living in France getting their healthcare here paid for by the UK the same rule applies for migrants in the same position who go to the UK. Their healthcare is paid for by whatever EU county they come from. Thats what the S1 form is for. If the UK treats them anyway free of charge well thats down to the UK not playing by EU rules and not the EU's fault. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well I did not realise I was blaming either the EU or the Euro for any potential lose, just stating the facts as I see it would have played out for myself if we had have made the move.. Indeed hindsight is a wonderful thing, ’ the rear view mirror is always clearer than the windscreen’. as Warren Buffer famously said. Please remember the average house price takes into account the UK as a whole, its only certain parts that matter to each individual, and my part has enjoyed rises far in excess of the amounts quoted by the Nationwide as ‘average’. I don't regard it as ‘bad luck’ we did not move to France in 2007, quite the opposite in fact now. Perhaps living in France full time, you don't see the decline in the country over the last ten years. perhaps your area is OK, Maybe this might interest you tonight on BBC2, 9.00 UK time (no its not Top Gear), Quelle Catastrophe, with Robert Preston. All about the decline in France and how it is affecting the ‘very fabric’ of French life. The UKIP policy does not have to be in line with other EU countries, because if these rules that are proposed were ever implemented, then it would mean the UK had left the EU. (Hooray) I would not count on the S1 being available forever, again another thing to add to the growing list which will stop foreigners buying in France I guess.
  23. Q wrote, The UK house prices collapsed in the UK in 2008/9 and took a few years to come back. The house prices in Spain also collapsed but look at the prices and how quick they are starting to go up now. These things happen and France is not unique. Because Sterling collapsed against the Euro up until a couple of months ago it would have made no difference if you sold your French house as the exchange rate would have been much better for taking your money back to the UK. Indeed if you sold at the right time you would have shown a healthy profit. That said Sterling still has a way to go before it gets to where it should be (somewhere between 1.45 and 1.5). I forgot to add that the reason you couldn't come because of the changes in healthcare rules in France is down to EU legislation which they decided to impliment as has other EU countries. Tony Blair refused to add this to UK legislation because it thought it ws an infringment of peoples human right to refuse or make them pay for healthcare. The thing is that we most likely would not have been able to sell up without taking a large hit. You are right that the exchange rate would have helped with the loss in value of the French house, but you say ‘IF’ we had sold, the truth is that the type of house we were in the process of buying is the type not favoured by the French. Very popular with the English and Dutch, but due to the health changes and euro value, they would have not been buying. So my guess is that if we had wished to sell up as many seem to do, we would not have found a buyer. I was thinking more of todays situation, house prices in France well down from 2007, of course some of that was the ‘foreigner tax’ but the chances of them ever attracting foreign buyers again in the future due to the for mentioned changes means the rural house prices will continue to decline. Then the cost of the fees for buying have risen again recently, and more taxes for second home owners brought in by the French government just helps add to the declining situation. Contrast this with the UK, its buzzing at the moment, house prices rising across the country, well in excess of their 2007 height. Helped of course by the chancellor lowering stamp duty for 95% of properties. And who would bet the £ will not be back to its 2007 exchange rate of 1.47 euros to the £ before long. So IF we had brought back in 2007 and sold today or in the near future we would, most defiantly have lost a ‘shed load’ BTW, one of UKIP’s policy’s is to implement the five year private healthcare rule for new entrants to the UK in line with France. I glad Tony Blair has some thoughts about human rights, just a shame he did show any when he sent our troops into Iraq.
  24. Theiere wrote, So when I have to queue behind people who are not from my country to be seen at the hospital, I get pi55ed, when all the seats in the waiting room are taken, some by people who can’t even speak English, I get pi55ed. Do you up and walk out when the people offering to cure you and in some cases are much better at it than people from your country? Have done in the past, and if I was able to, would in the future. Of course, not just walk out during the consultation, but just went elsewhere for treatment afterwards. I was lucky in that it was not a serious issue, and appreciate that your own may have been. Our main Hospital is in Cambridge, so there is less chance of this occurring here than in Lewisham I guess. I fear all the ‘positive discrimination’ that is about these days, and do question if some of those promoted are there because of their ability, or race? That is something I hate , public figures who lie. Who doesn't and I have always believed we should be able to hold them to account in a court of law. People like Jeremy Hunt with a very tough job to do to try and reduce the wastage in the NHS but out and out lies about closing maternity units will not increase mortality when the Doctors are gagged because they have the proof the mortality rates increased after closure. Then he speaks of protecting whistle blowers? Congratulation on winning this one, I have a friend who lives in Court hill Rd, Lewisham, so have heard of the going on which happened there. So for me immigration is the number one issue, and without the kippers, it would not be spoken of. That's the only true part of your xenophobic post. Do you have any part of you in France? do you own in France? do you holiday in France? The only part?? So everything else is wrong then I guess in YHO. As to my interest in France, well we holiday there every year or so, I have friends who have a holiday home in the Charente. France is a beautiful country, for the most part. Nearly did live there, but the change in the heath rules in 2007, meant it would never be. Looking back now, best thing that happened, for us anyway. The drastic fall in house values in France and the complete opposite in the UK, the fall of the £ to euro, means we would have taken a large hit. Of course eight years ago the NHS was nowhere near as good as we find it now, (and that is not because of the Conservatives either, these things were put in place by Labour) I guess two things labour done correctly then, spending on the NHS and not joining the euro. Still even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
  25. Regarding UKIP’s manifesto, Nigel has said all along that he knows he will never win the election, I know he wont, everyone knows he wont. But, he may just get enough votes to hold some sort of power after May 6th. So whatever he says is policy is quite unimportant, he wont be the prime minister, and the only condition that he has for going along with whoever wins is a referendum. ( if hopefully he is in that position) I see no point in having a great NHS service if anyone from around the world can access it. It is a NATIONAL heath service, not an international health service. I see the NHS as a reward, if you like for the working men and women, who died and fought in WW2, they did not get much else out of it, the government as always had the spoils of war, so in some small way, I have always seen this as something of value to the people, without who, Churchill and co would most likely have been executed had the game ended differently. So when I have to queue behind people who are not from my country to be seen at the hospital, I get pi55ed, when all the seats in the waiting room are taken, some by people who cant even speak English, I get pi55ed. Dave promised us immigration down to the tens of thousands, last year it was 300,000. Higher than when he came to power. Then we get a load of sorry excuses for why this happened. He is not to be trusted, he wont ever hold a referendum on the EU, its a lie, he knows it, and we know it. That is something I hate , public figures who lie. So for me immigration is the number one issue, and without the kippers, it would not be spoken of. The reason Dave does not want a TV live election debate is because he knows Nigel will show him up for what he is. Dave will of course be able to handle all the other leaders, but not Nigel, he just has to ask Nick about taking him on in a debate! I am not happy when I have to pay for a prescription for my pets, to enable me to buy something as mundane as flea treatment online ( as its a quarter of the price as the vet) in case I ‘misuse’ the product, then see images on my TV, of a Muslim treading on a sheep, then slitting its throat, so it bleeds to death, as that is the way his God says it should be done. But I guess this is OK, as after all its EU law. There is no point to the indigenous people of the UK having great hospitals, great education and a great place to live, if our government will not protect us from people, who should not be allowed in our country. I pay protection money to the government in the form of taxes ( if I did not pay they would send the ‘boys’ round) but they lack the guts to protect us from people who live by different rules and ethics from this country's. So as Dave and Ed, now don't even want to talk about immigration, as they know this gives Nigel air time, I know they have no plans to change anything. Regarding all the claims made about Nigel's ‘wrong doings’ if they had anything on him that would stick, we would know, all these things are easily explained that he is ‘accused of’ Do you know the cost of running an office, its not in rent where the money goes, but all the other things needed. There is no point having a great home with nice things in, if one leaves the keys in the door, for every, Tom, Dick and Mohammed to be able to enter and take whatever they wish.
