1.
Shame there is not a site where people could put on property to sell and then buyers could contact the sellers directly!
There is this also this website I found very easily, http://www.frenchhouserestoration.co.uk/ very highly ranked on Google, Yahoo, MSN etc etc which is one of the most important factors when selling on the internet, aswell a a nice looking site.
2. Maybe, just maybe, the accommodation is higher than the reported GDF ranking anyway. I have seen many accommodations that still have various stickers etc etc on their premises yet no longer are affiliated to them. It is NOT always the owner trying to hoodwink customers, more often than not it is likely a "senior moment" after seeing such stickers and wording for a number of years.  To all intents and purposes they are more likely innocently going on as normal without a thought of misrepresentation. After all, they could just be fed up with paying out for advertising, it does not mean that they have removed all of the factors from their premises that gave them a GDF ranking in the first place. As an addon and forgive my ignorance...........Isnt GDF simply a website organisation charging people to join for advertising and ratings? Is it actually a goverment body set up to officially oversee quality and standards of gites and Chambre d'Hotes throughout France?
3. Be aware that times are presently pretty hard for immobiliers................. I have friends that recently had a property valued by 6 agents, 5 said 220,000 one said only 90,000.............Was that one agent gagging for a very quick sale we wonder and therefore some monies in their pocket rapido. Using your own discretion and selling privately can be a good choice. Plus, the price without agency fees should be a lot more appealing to prospective buyers. Remember when looking around for comparable pricing that almost all immobiliers and internet agents advertised property prices include their commissions, therefore, allow for some reduction off of your own for sale price privately to be more attractive.
4. "Not in my backyard" is alive and kicking en France!! Many English people are often heard as saying, "Not more english moving in". Unless you pick an area of France that no one else will find attractive, you will always be surrounded by a high percentage of Brits. Move to where you feel is right for you, no matter who lives there or their original nationality. Visit the area, get a feel for it and then decide, taking anyones word for it is not the way to go about it in all honesty. Anyone who has actually lived or lives in France at all, should tell you that you WILL need Brits around you to learn and discover things from their experiences.  Also remember, you WILL always be an Englishman abroad. The same as the Kumars on TV (who aspire to be more English than the English), some Brits are (or try to be) more French than the French, personally, this type personally, deserve to be avoided them like the plague! Simply because an area has a high number of residential English, does not mean that you have to associate with them should you not wish, choice as always is your own. If you do not want to get involved with the English cricket club set or the local English quiz nights, you wont, wherever you choose to live, the same as in the UK.  I would not let a beautiful area, where it is pleasant to live, be a no no area for living simply because there is a large number of any one nationality residing there.
