  1. It`s a new tank and valve, however just in case it was faulty I fitted another new valve, no difference.
  2. Thanks to everyone for writing in. However, this still leaves me with the question as to why my pressure valve is constantly dripping. The instructions on the packet, the new valves came in, says to test it every month. Both of the new valves I`ve tried should read - test if you notice it ever stops dripping!!   One drip every second = at least 10ltrs per day depending how long it is switched on, would add up nicely over a year.
  3. Thanks tj I`ll chech the temp and I can live with the bubbles.
  4. Thanks Jim. It`s such a novelty having hot water, I can live with the constant drip. Cheers Ian
  5. The overflow is plumbed to the drains. It sounds like just a normal thing in a pressurized system. Thanks for your reply.
  6. I have recently installed a new electric boiler, however, after about an hour the pressure release valve kicks in & starts to drip water from the overflow pipe. I have installed a new pressure water regulator & adjusted it so the pressure is quite low going into the hot water tank. I have even changed the pressure relief valve thinking it might be faulty, to no avail. The only observation I have made is when you turn the hot tap on, the water comes out white, cloudy- & these millions of air bubbles clear in a few seconds. I can only assume that the bubbles expanding in the tank, as the water is heating, are causing the pressure overload. Water dripping out the overflow all the time & the excess pressure in the tank is not good, but I am at a loss as what to do next.
  7. Thank`s for a quick reply. We have 4 Shetland ponies in our field but Willow won`t follow them far before she heads back to the fence wanting to get back into the garden.
  8. We rescued our (horned) Soay sheep Willow, who is 6 years old, from a couple that kept her with goats, that would attack her & also ducks that pecked at her, pulling her wool out.  She lives in our garden & stays close to our dogs for security, when they're out. She follows the dogs indoors and thinks she is one of them and often comes in to be with me as well. She is very tame & friendly and will eat from your hand, but she doesn't like you to cuddle her and she would not be ideal around small children. She follows me when called or when it's time to be put to bed in her stable.    Unfortunately, when she is on her own she bleats and becomes very lonely.  She needs to be with other sheep for security and company.  I would like to see her go to a friendly environment, as a pet, with other sheep. (No goats!) She is a sweet little sheep and we will be sorry to see her go, but it is better for her welfare. We are in the north of L'Allier(03) near Lurcy Levis
  9. Hi I have a 4 week old Shetland foal, apart from being treated for a bad leg with antibiotics, by our vet, she is starting to lose her hair around the eyes, nose and the white blaze on her forehead.  Before I start screaming for the vet again, is this a natural process with foals, or could it be cause by the medication or anything else, in such a young animal . Would be very grateful for any advice.
  10. CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A FINANCE COMPANY/BANK THAT WE CAN APPROACH FOR A LOAN/MORTAGE.  WE OWN OUR HOME WITH NO MORTGAGE.  WE WOULD LIKE TO BORROW SOME MONEY TO FINISH HOME IMPROVEMENTS APPROX. 20-30,000 EUROS.  THE PROBLEM IS WE ARE SELF-EMPLOYED AND HAVE NOT BEEN IN THIS COUNTRY LONG ENOUGH TO HAVE ANY ACCOUNTANCY RECORDS.  WE HAVE RECORDS OF EARNINGS IN ENGLAND UP T0 2005.  ARE THERE LIKELY TO BE ANY OTHER STUMBLING BLOCKS.  ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
  11. WE HAVE BEEN VISTED BY SIVOM EAU & ASSAINISSEMENT TO INSPECTED THE SEWAGE AND WASTE WATER SYSTEM.  WE HAD PLANS MADE LAST MARCH TO HAVE A COMPLETE NEW STYSTEM PUT IN.  UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO A BAD INVESTMENT ALL OUR FUNDS ARE NOW TIED UP FOR WELL INTO NEXT YEAR (WITH LUCK).  WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN UNTIL SEPTEMBER TO COMPLY WITH THE PROPOSED PLANS.  THERE IS NO WAY THIS CAN HAPPEN NOW AND WE ARE INTERESTED TO KNOW HOW THE FRENCH SYSTEM DEALS WITH THIS NON  COMPLIANCE,  i.e DO THEY FINE YOU, OR PUT A PADLOCK ON THE TOILET SEAT ETC.  WE HAVE AN EXISTING SEPTIC TANK IN OPERATION AT THE MOMENT, WHICH WAS PROBABLY INSTALLED IN THE 50's.  WE ARE NOT TOO WORRIED YET.   HOWEVER, FOR WARNED IS FOR ARMED ETC.  SO ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS IAN & ANN
  12. WE LIVE NEAR LURCY LEVIS IN THE NORTH OF THE ALLIER (03).  WE NEED TO FIND A GOOD FARRIER FOR OUR TWO SHETLAND PONIES.  OUR FRENCH IS NOT THAT GOOD, SO IF HE SPOKE A LITTLE BIT OF ENGLISH IT WOULD BE OF HELP.  IT WOULD ALSO  BE ADVANTAGEOUS IF HE WAS VERY STRONG AND HAS A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOUR, AS OUR PONIES ARE VERY SHORT AND DO NOT LIKE THERE HOOVES BEING PICKED UP  OUR LOCAL VET HAS GIVEN US TWO NUMBERS, BUT WORD OF MOUTH RECCOMENDATIONS WOULD BE PREFERABLE. THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE. IAN & ANN  I
