  1. We have recently received estimates for renovations to our 45 year old house.  We asked our builder to give us a devis to 'crepi' the house exterior at the same time but he warned us that this may take us over the threshold at which TVA is paid on renovations at 5.5% to 19.6% on ALL the work.  There apparently is a threshold on renovations costs as a percentage of the habitable space/surface area, over which the work is considered new build and not renovations.  Has anyone else come across this and could you advise.  Thank you.
  2. I recently came across a nursery north of Carcassonne that speciliases in plants for dry gardening and which also runs gardening courses including a 2 day 'Introduction to Gardening in the Languedoc'. PM me if you would like the nursery's website details.

    Compost

Thank you Jane and everyone else who responded. Marc épuisé is the remains of pressed grapes and which is produced in large quantities in this area and which the local winegrowers use as a compost for their vines.  Since posting my question I've been told that its OK to use as a garden compost as digging in any organic matter is better than none but obviously horse or cow manure would be better.  But like manure it needs to be well rotted. Compost

Hello, I'm looking for somewhere to buy compost, not by the bag from garden centres but in bulk by the ton.  We've a new garden to create out of an area of just weeds and having rotovated it, I would like to dig in as much compost as I can get.  We live in the Aude (11) not far from Limoux and Carcassonne. And secondly does anyone know if marc épuisé is useable as garden compost? Thanks
