1. Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but a strike at Dover is proposed for next week. The Harbour Authority is proposing to outsource some services. A vote for a strike by dockers has been made. Tuesday 18th 7am for 48 hours.
2.
Euro worth 81 pence this morning .......makes me wonder how many people will want to use them  or the ferries next year
81pence sounds good, booked tickets with Ryanair over the weekend and their conversion Euro to ST used 86.75pence
3. Our CA has two access points, one for paying in, the other for withdrawals. In our case it couldn't have been easier. Insert card and input pin, welcome message by name, which language did we prefer. Notes are then placed in a tray (maximum number of notes stated), machine takes notes then says (something like)...you have input 10 notes totalling 250 euro....is this correct...press yes button....do you wish to proceed with a deposit into account  **********....press yes button - and hey presto, mini statement confirming deposit.  Your machine may of course be different.
4. Is there a 'financial expert' who can answer. Does a book of tickets count as one purchase, thus refundable under the credit card. Or does it count as multiple purchases of less than £100. I am tending to fear the latter, as if say half the tickets have been used then there is less than £100 credit left. Tricky one?
5. Monday 22nd AM...BBC Radio......1 passenger/car service every two hours
6. Hi Lilac, you might want to look at www.burgundypulse.com which you can join or just read the forum. There is a very new member, Debra, also from the US so you may know her. Debra is asking very similar questions regarding a possible move to Burgundy. You might find that your own questions have already been answered. There is also www.burgundyfriends.com which is longer established, its site has just had a face lift. There is a small membership to pay on the latter.
7. Ron, whats a Green Card?....haven't seen one of those in years. Wen, interesting article in Weekend Telegraph Motoring: Not sure of your car model but after just 12 months a Suzuki Jimmy is worth only 52% of its original value and a Suzuki Liana will be worth only 42%. Bottom of the barrel is the Hyundi Sonata worth only 32%
8. The general view of Insurers is : if you want to drive for most of the year on the Continent then insure on the Continent. I do not have a Saga Policy but Ron is right when he says that the some (not all) Insurers offer unlimited visits to the EU but a maximum of 90 days in one visit/year. I will be very (pleasantly) surprised if  Saga exceeded this.
9. Would recommend that you also join Burgundy Friends : www.burgundyfriends.co.uk : very similar site to this one, although much smaller, but then all members are in your region.
