1.
Which do you prefer? Unspoilt, tailor-made and brand new? Or old, charming and full of character? Have your say....
Does it have to be old to be full of character??? Just design your own and either build it or get somebody who can.

Thanks for all the answers. Apologies for not getting this subject on the correct forum.
3. There seem to be different ideas as to what is allowed with cars down here in Beaucaire.  Some owners have english cars with no tax, no mot but eng insurance. The next catagory have a c/t and eng insurance. The next have c/t and french insurance. Is it really khosher to play about like this? Personally I have a french car, c/t and french insurance but one of these others takes out my car - or anything else for that matter - then where do I stand. OK with fully comp my own insurance will sort it out but then you have a claim record.
4. Is this "assurance dommage ouvrage" available to non prof house builders?
5. Looking at buying a plot of land to build my own house. Have built 4 over the years in the north of scotland. All of which have been supervised by an architect, he used to visit once a month, and then the finished building was covered by his proffessional indemnity. Worked very well and is common in Scotland. Estate agent tells me that this is not possible in France. How therefore do people get around this - legally - without getting a builder to do the work?
6. In my case the question was aimed at building a house for the boss lady where she could work on it in better weather!!! With the vat status then I guess the best way is to buy her a wreck - well she has me already - and then call it repairs for the lower rate. Many thanks again for the replies. Mike
7. I have built 4 houses for myself over the last 30 odd years in the north of scotland and now fancy doing it one last time in france. Two basic questions are is this as common in France as it is in Scotland and is there a reclaimable VAT entilement as in UK on new dealings? Many thanks.
