  1. Hello everyone We have two passing roads near our Chambres d'Hotes and I was thinking of putting some small notices up pointing to our vallage turnoff to generate passing business. Is this legal? Will they be removed by the 'officials'. I am sure we have all seen similar small notices all over France for Chambres / B&B . Thankyou - Maureen
  2. Having toured France and Europe for more than 35 years and having just retired I would like to use my sidecar outfit from our house in France rather than leave it in the UK. It will retain a UK MOT and tax but is it possible to insure it so I can use it for pleasure in France for say 6 months of the year ? It would of course need to come back to the UK for MOT etc but leaving it in France from April to say November would be ideal. I would not cover more than 3000 max per year - any advive you bikers out there?
  3. Hi Anton and Nick Thanks for this info, I will proceed as suggested - anything to do with water and electricity always needs that additional safety, I do not want any accidents. I bought the spa in the UK, they can be bought for £300 or slightly less. I bought mine at a cash and carry and it was £250 plus VAT. As you will appreciate that's peanuts for a spa but it is an amazing bit of kit for the money. I have seen one operational at the cash and carry and its impressive (remembering the cost). There is a video on the Bestway (Lay-Z-Spa) website and lots of comments from customers. Once its working I will report back......!!!!
  4. I have a bought a Bestway 'Lay-Z-Spa', an amazing bit of kit for the money (see Lay-Z-Spa website for more info), bought this in the UK but these are available in France. The instructions state it must be plugged into a RCD to ensure electrical safety. The RCD used must have a residual operating current not exceeding 30mA. I am aware that I can buy these in the UK, can you buy plug-in RCD's here in France? It also states that it must be plugged into a properly grounded socket, should be simple but I am aware that some but not all of the sockets in the property have no earth wire connected. In the UK I could use a small 'plug-in' earth tester that verified the earth was operational and satisfactory - any advice re this? The house will be rewired in 2008 by a qualified French electrician, I don't know who did the existing wiring - it all works OK but I need to be extra safe with this kit. John
  5. Hi Northender Pleased to have your comment, thought my question was going to disappear without a reply! The reason I ask is that in the Brico building guide booklets it has a separate soil pipe shown for toilet and another for wash water and I was concerned that with the new inspection system (as I need new fosse etc) any deviation from the correct piping would be spotted.
  6. Hopefully a simple question to clarify my plan! Busy installing bathrooms on the first floor of a renovation. I will need to run a soil - vent pipe down and out to the fosse - no trouble. I presume I will need to install TWO soilpipes from each of the 1st floor bathrooms - one for toilet waste and one for shower etc water which will run through a degraisseur before rejoining the toilet waste pipe running to the fosse? Can I use 100mm soil/vent pipes for both? Thanks Handy
