I need to create head height in my loft due to the fact that the main beams disect the middle of the proposed bedrooms. It has been suggested to me that I raise the height of the walls, perhaps by 50cm in order to bo this but I'm wondering in there is a less expensive option, maybe one where I can create door sized gaps in the beams without losing structural integrity by having the load supported in some other way. Is this possible or am I barking?? Mark (16)

I posted a message here some weeks ago about the costs of renovating a property in France and was met with lots of very good advice but also the question 'Why would you not want to build a new home instead?' Having given this question a great deal of thought my new question is....can anyone recommend a builder willing to take on a new build project in the southern Charente, using locally aquired traditional materials. My family and I are moving to the Bonnes/Chalais region of the southern Charente this month with a view to aquiring a plot of land for development. Cheers, Mark.

We are about to move to France with two children aged 12 and 8 years. Does anybody have recent experiences with school enrolment in relation to the required vaccinations. Our kids have all but BCG vaccinations but our recent research suggests that BCG from children from the UK is not required. Any help please, Thanks, Mark and Sarah-Jane. 

We are moving to the Southern Charente from the Heathrow area in February next year. Any advice on which removal company to use. Any good or bad experiences would be happily recieved. Thanks.
