1. Went twice during late August to pick up friends. First visit, carpark closed for refurbishment, just a few cars in it, all GB. Second visit, carpark refurbished, relined out. Quite noticeable that the GB cars that had been there all the time were all "parked" badly, since new bays had been drawn. Even more noticeable that EVERY ONE of them had a flat o/s front tyre[:(] So...........if you left YOUR car there over the summer long term, bring a pump on your return.
 2.

Take a look at this site called seat guru it shows you all the best seats and all the cr#ppy ones too. Useful for online seat picking.
But the  Germans will  still put their towels down first?
How racist......[Www]
 3. We put two of these things in last year, both are growing well. My wife refers to them as "Jericho's trumpets".[8-)]
 4. A student friend, to me, bemoaning the demise of his Hillman Imp: "the oil light came on when I was on the motorway, so I drove at top speed to the next services.......but it never made it".
 5. It seems to me, (someone will correct me if I'm wrong), that the style of pointing depends on the region the house is in, and the stones of which it is made. In the Limousin, the style you describe seems the norm. It can be very attractive if done properly, but looks a mess if not.
 6.
I presume you mean "went" back and I wonder which ferry you used ? With Norfolk Line all but the UK customs check is completed at Dunkerque and I've never had a hold up at Dover UK despite lugging a large box trailer back and forth.
Nope, "came back" as we still live in the UK[:(]. We used the 1820 Calais-Dover, P&O. NO holdups attribtable to P&O, ALL down to UK passports, security, customs etc etc etc . Edit: Last line of this post removed.   Hoddy
 7. Came back via Calais yesterday at around 4pm. 45 minutes queue for passports, 15 minutes queue for tickets, another 25 minutes for immigration/security, then a further 30 minutes at Dover for UK customs, where around 15 jobsworths stood around giving every car hard stares as we passed through. Welcome to the UK[:(]
 8. Birdsongb tapes and CD's are useful for the autumn/winter months too[;-)] Not much chance of scaring birds away then.
 9.
Well, the trap caught him, but also killed him somehow, strange internal fluid-like substance on base of trap ......  I didn't plan/expect that outcome and am not really sure what/how it happened, but hopefully our house is now our own.
I've seen that before, the mouse seems to die of panic. Perhaps Chris P might know why? Alcazar
 10.
Yes bellac, thanks for that, perhaps when i can read french well enough then all these postings that are made in French i will be able to read [:D] i know what to do, i'll put it in babelfish and read it then.......................
Do speak us what say it when you are having it done so[:D]
 11. I don't know what the glue actually IS but it don't half smell exactly like Bostik.
 12.
So it's very simple for a person to try once in one name, make a record of the right answers, then play again in their other name and get top marks. Though I'm sure most people don't cheat and there's a few clever ones about. Pat.
Well that was my thought..........but I didn't want to say so[Www]
 13. As Gluey says, I'd go for a simple in line timeclock. My boiler, a Buderus, has a fully digital programmer/stat, with external and internal stats, flow sensors etc etc. It even learns how long it takes to reach a certain temperature so as to switch on earlier and have it to that temperature by the time selected[geek] HOWEVER: it has taken me about two years of short breaks there to come to terms with it![8-)] The first year I set it to check for frost, and come on accordingly, but inadvertenly set it wrongly and it used an ENORMOUS amount of gas over the winter[:@]
 14. I would try contacting Citroen themselves, and ask the dealer for his input. You never know, they MIGHT give you something towards it. Edutted to say: we are on our second Xantia, the 2.0 HDi, and I would not have another Citroen if they were giving them away. Poorly built, expensive to repair and maintain, junk[:@]
 15.

Has it occured to you that you are, well, seriously ill?
Nope he is in the dark about that,  due to the position of his head[:D] It must be so envigorating to be right ALL the time, I nearly know the feeling[Www]
Ho ho!
 16. Hmmmmmmm. I've been to Paris MANY times, and only had ONE bad experience. That was accompanying a school trip, when the lady in charge of the toilets in the small park behind Notre Dame tried to stop one of the teenaged boys from going in to the urinals, on the grounds that he would, "make a mess". We had a rather robust discussion, which ended with her retreat when I threatened gendarmes. The people who have been the nicest by far were those of African descent. Polite, welcoming and helpful to a man (and woman).
 17. You're on the right forum. If it were me, I'd be searching the forum and compiling a list of questions, and posting one or so a day....NOT too many at once. Give each time to collect answers from various sources, some questions will get loads of conflicting advice, some will get little or just one definitive answer. Are you aware that the Limousin is one of the wetter areas of France? Novemeber is also a poor choice of time to visit, short, dark, wet, cold days, VERY cold nights, few leaves on trees, (large-ish deciduous wooded area), looks miserable. Could you go in summer or wait for spring? PM me if you want a UK phone number to talk about it all. We've had our property for 5 years and are still renovating. I don't know it all, by a long way, but I know a LOT more than I did[;-)] We live in Humberside south of the River.
 18. Isn't this what's called "Choux", in France? If so, it's available in about 20 shades from any decent materiel dealer, (builder's merchants). Ours lent us the "chart" (which is pieces of the real thing) to compare with our existing stuff so as to get the right colour.
 19.
Point 2) USED to be the case, but according to www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk, is no longer. It was a glitch and has been fixed. They would say that wouldn`t they.
No. They are an anti-camera site[;-)]
 20.
Ron Thore average speed cameras on the M1 in the roadworks are switched on and making shedloads of money for the government.(at the rate at which speeding fines are being handed out the road should almost pay for its self) I am told there are two ways to avoid helping to pay for it. 1) stick to the 50mph limit. 2) Change lanes after you pass the camera. regards colin
Point 1) is obvious to anyone who's ever been browbeaten on here[:P] Point 2) USED to be the case, but according to www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk, is no longer. It was a glitch and has been fixed.[:(]
 21. I know you can get them in the UK, because we researched it. We DIDN'T go down this road, in the end, as we felt that, a) a woodburner isn't controllable enough to do heating, and, b) they were just too difficult to keep in all night. The MANUFACTURERS we talked to as much as admitted both problems.
 22.
Urban myth???[I]
Still not convinced. It's probably an urban myth put about by gendarmes[:P]
 23. The only bit of advice I'm qualified to give is: get plenty of good insulation. Fuel in France is dear........[:(]
 24.
Sorry, I didn't mean that people aren't so racist any more, just that it is no longer acceptable (in public!)  I meet plenty of racists, every day, it's just that they begin each sentence with something like "I'm not a racist but..." You know the sort of thing that comes next!
Well I'm not a racist AND I don't know what comes next[8-)]
