You could try visiting and talking to the Ecocentre at St. Pierre de Frugie, just off the RN21between Chalus and La Coquille. They have several types of eco-construction in progress, and can probably provide useful contacts. If nothing else, you can have a very interesting tour of the site.

If you are anywhere near Chalus, try Troc Plaisir, Place de la Fontaine; Didier and Sandrine often have small woodburners in their showrooms. they both speak some English.
