  6. Hi we are moving to France hopefully in October, I am spending most nights on this forum and finding it a great help in our planning, we are trying to be as fully equiped with info as possible. I am strggling with the step by step process of what to do once we arrive at our destination, e.g What, where, how do we register basically an idiots guide as to what we have to do. I would appreciate any tips, advice. Pauline

  10. Hi We are looking to move to within 1 1/2hrs of Toulouse (mainly for access to picking family up from the airport) around the Tarn area and wondered if anyone knew how to work the radius out, it doesnt have to be exact but a rough idea of how far to look would be helpful. Thanks Pauline
  11. Hi Cassis I am not sure exactly what area Cerise is in. I think we would be happy with anything that is better than the weather we get in England, I believe the winters are cold in the Tarn area but shorter than here, I am surprised the winters are so cold in southern France I think I expected it to be less harsh. We have friends in Limoge and they said their winters are cold as well. Still you have nicer summers to look forward to.
  12. Thanks so much for the info, Mike and I are looking at coming over end March to look at property, we are both putting in for early retirement at work and looking to move October, needed to know whether the early pension would support us which we think it will, I am a keen gardener and plan to grow as much as poss. I will take your advice regarding the wine I guess if you drink enough you dont notice how cheap it is!! We did look at limousin but we believe the weather isnt as good. any tips on good areas in Tarn or surrounding. How long have you lived in France? any good advice we should follow would be appreciated. We are really keen to get going, we are planning everything as best we can but know we have a lot to learn although its fun learning and planning a big adventure. We have two little Bichon frise so I am looking into passports etc for them, crikey the list is endless isnt it. Thanks again for the advice, I can see this forum is going to be extremely useful. Pauline
  13. Hi, Mike and I are looking at moving to the Tarn area of France possibly in October, we are wondering what the average cost per month we can expect it to cost us with bills, food, taxes, health insurance etc, we are taking early retirement and are trying to calculate our finances. I would  really appreciate any advice, tips or rough calculations for two people to live. Pauline
