  1.  OUr plans have not worked out as expected and a cat we rescued is now in need of a home.  He is SUPER friendly, lively and full of fun.  Excellent with children and dogs.  Good hunter too We are in Vimoutiers 61, Please can someone give him a home.  This is breaking my heart but I will not put him in  a kennels for 7 months whilst I get his passport sorted. And he is a country cat (although never strays too far from home.) Infact if we are out he waits by the gate for us. He is 6 months old and called Woody.  Please contact me if you need any further info. He comes with 6 months food, his fleecy bed, bowls and transport cage.
  2. I am selling the book that you have to study for the certficate de Capacity and it has all the info you need.  As I am giving up my kennels and going back to the UK.  So if you are interested I will sell it to you or any other interested parties.

  4. We have a pet crematorium in Vimoutiers 61, it even has a nice waiting area and coffee.  Normally a vet can organise it for you but as mentioned before you can find it in the yellow pages.
  5. We also have stockists in Normandy, Brittany and Paris. If you know of a vet or petshop in your area that may be intersted in stocking it then please contact me and I will see if we can get them to stock it.   www.chateaudesanimaux.com
  6. We have travelled on Speed ferries 6 times in the last two months and every time it left exactly on time.  I enjoyed the coffee and the sandwiches.  Seats felt fine to me. But I didnt sit too much, was too busy watching my son in the play area. I have to check where Norfolk comes to and from though as if it means less driving I would be happy.
  7. Obvioulsy a joke the way they were talking about rich  people and the fact that it was free.  It would  not work anyway as far as I can see.
  8. I know there are breeders in Britanny and Normandy. I have a Ridgeback that boards with me when her owner works. Ridgeback breeders are not that common in France. However I still dont advocate breeding when there are millions of adorable crossbreeds. As a South AFrican it is always nice to see a Ridgeback though. Candice
  9. I have heard of one that is absolutley awful in that area but cannot think of the name. In fact it is the one that is recommended by the customs officers at the port when animals dont make the grade for crossing. I think it may have been called Hotel Canin or something. So please do check out any kennels before sending your pets. Chateaud www.chateaudesanimaux.com
  10. Burns Pet Nutrition is available in France, if you would like more info, brochures or samples please email me. It is true that large breed dogs should not have high protein food and even the amount of protein in normal supermarkets foods are way too high for the average dog. Candice
  11. I can't see what the problem is either, when we rent a 5 bedroom place in the south, we never say who else is coming and we have lots of friends coming and going over the course.  Doesnt bother the owners either.
  12. Have you taken her to the vet to check that all is well, especially after a birth where you think all is not well. I would take her ASAP
  13. Sorry cant help with rehoming but have you tried sending a lawyers letter to Ellies owners,  they have to pay you wether they like it or not, or atleast threaten to report them to the powers that be.  Hence I always take 20% deposit and then payment monthly.
  14. It is quite normal to sedate a cat for the blood test, as if they miss the vein first time they only have one more chance with the other vein and if the cat moves again there is no other way of getting enough blood until the veins have healed.   Dogs are different as it can be taken from other parts of the body. My cat was sedated for his blood test. Although some vets may choose to take a chance and who knows the cat may just be good enough to stand still.
  15. Sounds like a bull terrier to me.  Look on dogbreedinfo.com Candice http://www.chateaudesanimaux.com
  16. Yes she would be looking at a 7 month wait from the date of the rabies vaccination.  You will have to ask the vet at what age he will do  the rabies vacc.  Total cost should be about 200 Max.  For vaccinations, blood tests etc. http://www.chateaudesanimaux.com
  17. It isnt really given in the UK either and for good reason , if you vaccinate against it, the vaccine is not permanent therefore you may pick it up as an adult when you get worse symptoms.  It is also not 100% effective and the child may pick up an atypical version of chicken pox and suffer far worse. Honestly it is a harmless childhood disease just go with the flow. The vaccinations are far worse and have awful things in them, that I wouldnt inject into my child.
  18. Apparentely the MMR vaccine in France is different to the UK one.  Hence Tony Blair had his son vaccinated here (or so I was told by The What Doctors Dont Tell You publication). However it is not compulsory.
  19. We used www.residences-secondaires.com  They also have a magazine. All in French.
  20. You will be joining the millions of other Brits who have had the same idea.  You need to contact the dept. of veterinary services in the area you will be living it to find out all the laws. (in french)
  21. Prices vary greatly from vet to vet.  Generally a consultation at my vet is 18 Euros then the jab is not much.  For dogs you pay for frontline and worming tablets which are much cheaper here than  in the UK plus consultation.  No more than 30 Euros I would say. Per dog and slightly les for a cat. Obvioulsy if you have more than one pet you dont pay a 2nd consultation.    www.chateaudesanimaux.com
  22. It depends where you live I suppose.  When I babysat in Paris I was paid 10 euros and hour with dinner and taxi fare home.
