  11. Thanks SD you make it seam less daunting , I will start my practice forms now .
  12. Is any one up to giving step by step guidance on filling in tax forms ? I have downloaded 2042 ,2047 and 3916 from last year to use as a guide, I would just like to be ready for this year , it will be our first. Arrived July last year , so assume we just declare income from July to December, we have two small company pensions each (both in 50`s so no state pension yet) I  assume we lump them together, Plus some interest on savings. thanks
  13. In the UK if a couple own a house in joint names (not married) and they split up , the lady of the house has the right to stay in it until the children are 18 , I think. The partner does not have the right to force the sale. Does the same law apply with French property ?
  14. has anyone used it ? how long have they been in bussiness ? how much do you have to top up? , their website does not say. www.webcalldirect.com

  17. Just been reading the small print for opening a Bradford & Bingley offhore account they want copies of utility or bank statements in English , how if you live in France ?
  18. Thanks for all the advise everyone , and thanks for the welcome SD. I do want to know the right thing to do , thats why I asked the question , as a new commer to the board and to France. We have a Britline account and although it claims to be for Brits when you log on most of it is French , hence the reason why I wish to stay with English language banking. I know the answer is to learn French but not easy when you never had it at school  and are getting on in years. Are "get out of jail free cards" valid in France or should I bin them ? (joke)
  19. The account details go to my mums address , so we still have a UK address for corespondance . ING are internet based so it is very easy to continue using the account. We do not speak French so changing to ING France would be hard for us.
