1.

Curious is their HD transmission in Full HD or just the lower HD resolution.
It is of course at the lower res. 720P as (I think) are all the Sat HD channels
Ch4 HD = 1080i
 2.
Bunping this back up: I am trying to get Astra1 @19.2 deg but I can only get Hotbird at that angle, any ideas Martin et al?
No doubt Martin will be along to advise but in the meantime, I think you need to be a few degrees eastward and slightly lower. Unfortunately my motorized set up is disassembled in preparation for a move, so I can't provide you with the finer details.
 3. Control or pilot wires are connected to a suitable room thermostat and allow several wall heaters to be controlled from a central point. It works in a similar fashion to the room thermostat control on central heating systems.
 4.
I'm happy for my FREE AV to take care of such things, they have never let me down yet [;-)]
I agree AnO! Out of interest, I've noted my version of MS Security Essentials - like other AV programs, updates automatically and I see the latest update occurred today at 11:37 hrs and is now running version 1.123.340.0. The last check for new definitions was at 17:52 hrs. Am I bothered? Only in as much as knowing the AV package is doing the job and taking care of things without any intervention from myself. I'm certainly not bothered as to which version is running, as long as it is the most current![:)]
 5.  System : W7 Browser: Safari Problem(s): Reply box needs resizing. Any 'quotes' resemble gobbledeegook when presented in final post. In all browsers, clicking the blue 'Advertise' link (top right) produces; 404 - File or directory not found. The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
 6.  System : W7 Browser: Opera Problem(s): Inability to log on.
 7. From a colleagues recent experience in England. After discussing fitment with his choice of garage, he went ahead and ordered the clutch assembly from elsewhere. The clutch was fitted, only to start slipping a couple of thousand miles later. Then the fun started with the garage blaming the clutch supplier, and the clutch supplier blaming both the garage firstly for wrong fitment, then the vehicle user for style of driving! The matter was eventually resolved with the clutch supplier agreeing to replace the assembly, but my colleague still had to fork out the labour charge for removal and refitting. Subsequently, the clutch supplier made a contribution towards the labour costs involved purely as a goodwill gesture, but denied any fault or liability. After seeking legal advice he was advised if the garage in question had carried out the full supply and fit of the clutch, they would have been liable for any subsequent fault arising and with rectification at no cost to the customer. I suspect it could be a similar situation in France.
 8. Archant don't seem to be too bothered about a number of things! Income from advertising being one. Has anyone clicked on the 'Advertise' button at the top of the page? The results are not what I'd expect!
 9.
Will, the mods were told that the forum would be 'moving' to make it accessible from mobile devices, we were not told, and not consulted about other changes.
And the mods are now taking the flak as a result! I would have thought it appropriate for a member of Archant's IT team to have forewarned of the change, with a seperate thread where problems could be aired and dealt with in a more direct manner than through a third party i.e. the moderators who are obviously having the same problems! Is it just coincidental or was this 'new' image churned out knowing that one of Archant's competitors also intends a similar revamp within the next few days? Sorry, but I feel the answers should be coming directly from Archant. Edit. You will note that the 'quote' of RH's post resembles gobbledeegook. While whoever may have decided FF is the way forward, the reply function is not very compatible with Safari. Further Edit. It is impossible to log in using Opera.
 10. Please, get rid of the background image and utilise the whole page width. Second, in Safari the reply box resembles the size of the box in non-compatible mode of IE.
 11.

It's a murky business. The article says that the gun was a type often used by organised crime.
The calibre quoted (11.43) is more normally referred to as .45 ACP, its difficult to find a handgun of that calibre with a magazine holding more than 16 rounds. 17 empty cases were reported as found, indicating a reload. the .45 handgun is probably the most common gun available being in production for many many years, therefore it would, almost by definition, be the one most used by criminals.
With a magazine capacity in excess of 16 rounds, and the calibre, it sounds more likely to be something along the lines of an UZI. Which I'm reliably informed, are very popular on the street.

 17. As already mentioned, finding the correct combination of bearing and elevation can be a frustrating exercise. The use of cheap satellite finders can be equally frustrating especially when the seperation between satellites is only a few degrees. The use of the simple "Dish Pointer" software in Tonyv's post certainly makes the job easier in getting the essential settings correct, before fine tuning any further. 18.
You don't HAVE to pay to access a FON WiFi spot. If you're an SFR customer who's opened up the public access option - you get free access to FON Spots around the world. All SFR neufboxes have by default 2 WiFi channels - one private and one public all with unlimited access included in the monthly fee's. Importantly you can opt to provide free or payg access to anyone without automatic access rights.
Yes, you get free access to FON spots around the world IF you are a subscriber to one of the partner schemes. You certainly can't obtain free access otherwise, certainly not in the UK!
 19.
I wasnt looking at using it as a revenue stream but as a way of keeping a little bit of bandwidth for myself. I am interested in what NickP had to say about multiple guests, I have a Freebox and have a speed of 6.35 wotsits of which 3 is taken up by my television, 2 on bas débit, there could be another 6 apartments sharing this either by ethernet cable or WiFi, would I need another ADSL connection and router, or could my existing system cope with that and still have enough speed for me? I dont do anything other than surf the net and use this and one other forum so dont need big downloads myself and can cope with things being a little slower but once the tenants who may well be students start doing whatever it is they do would it affect me? Also what about this Hadopi thing, would I not still be responsable even if I had a seperate router, I could at the moment allow some of y bandwidth for open access to other Free users, how is one protected in that scenario and could that help me?
PPP's option is for a booster which effectively means your bandwidth is available to one and all within your apartments, simply by you providing log-on details in order for your tenants to go on-line. The FON network works differently in as much as you provide a Hot-Spot where anyone within range can pay to connect and use the service and yes, once connected they will be using a portion of your allowance. If it's anything like the UK, speed of their connection is limited to around 512 kbps. Once you've signed up to the FON network, you'll have free access to any and all Hot-Spots elsewhere. You'd obviously need to check the finer details of how the FON system works in France and why for example, it isn't as popular there as in Belgium.
 20. Well done Chiefluvvie! The FON network is widespread through the UK, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Portugal, but sadly still someting of a rarity in France and other European countries.
 21. After looking up your phone Chancer, and reading Q's contribution, I have to agree it does sound more like the battery which is causing the problems you're now experiencing. It looks like the phone is quite an old model, and I'd be very surprised if the battery - if original, was still capable of holding a charge.
 22.
I still have the problem but have narrowed it down to my phone itself, its a very curious state of affairs, I will try to summarise briefly. As Salty Sam said I did indeed lock the thing up and had to use the PUK code and reset the PIN, that is when it really started to deconner it  would ask for the PIN but either not recognise it or shut down, sometimes cycling between switching and and shutting down so i put the phone on charge and tried using my spare mobile. Spare mobile (Nokia 3310) works with Lebara, Asda and the Free sim cards [B] and recognises the PIN I chose, I finally set the security to no pin required. The mobile I prefer to use as it has all my contacts on it is a Nokia 2310, it is set to not require a pin code, perhaps its the sim not the phone but in any case the Free sim does not ask for a pin on the other phone, it works fine for both the Lebara and Asda sims but if I use the Free one (which works fine on the other Nokia) it just powers up, then shuts down and keeps cycling between the two. Does anyone have any ideas please? Thankyou.
As you've managed to achieve a connection using one phone but not another, are you sure the Nokia 2310 is actually unlocked to all network providers ?
 23.
My free Free (€2 but not to me) carte sim arrived, I activated it on the website but the phone is asking me for a PINcode which I have never used on any other simcards, something else to forget, will i get an e-mail from Free with it? A bit of an anti climax as i thought i would be up and running by now. AAAAGHHHH!!!!! I recalled that I did indeed have a pincode on one of the previous cartes, it was my standard one, so i tried it and the phone simlocked, it then asked me for the PUK code, I entered the one for the Free carte sim, it then asked me for a new pin, I enetered one, then asked for confirmation, did it again, now when it asks me for the pin and I enter it the phone just switches off every time. Why does life have to be so bloomin complicated! Any ideas or suggestions?
Has your phone been unlocked to allow you to use 'Free' or is it still locked to your previous service provider? How many times have you tried entering the Pin? You may have exceeded the permitted number of attempts before the phone decides enough is enough. Usually 3 attempts allowed. From what you describe, it sounds like your PUK code is now blocked, together with the Sim, and you'll need to contact Free.
