  1. We are thrilled to see that Easyjet are flying to Bordeaux from Bristol throughout the winter 2009/2010 except for 3 weeks in November.
  2. Does anyone know of a Sky fitter who operates in the Bordeaux city area? We have an apartment and suspect that the dish would have to be placed on the top of quite a tall building. Any help would be much appreciated. JD
  3. Thankyou to everyone who has contributed to the discussion. The Toulouse option looks the best and then train to Bordeaux. We do have  Carte Seniors so they will keep the cost down. The flights to Toulouse go every day during the year and are quite cheap.
  4. We have struggled to get to our place in Bordeaux this winter by using the train, flying to Bergerac and then using the train or driving. We would far rather fly from either Bristol,Birmingham or Exeter. Has anyone any experience of lobbying the airlines? There must be a demand as the summer flights seem very popular.
  5. A recently widowed friend has been charged £3000 to re-register her french property, after the death of her husband, by her french solicitor. Has anyone else experienced this seemingly high fee? I have not been aware of this cost to date.
  6. We have oldies' SNCF passes and want to use Eurostar and the TGV to get to Bordeaux in Nov. Does anyone know of a good website for the best deals. Have thought we could go to Bdx station info in Oct when we are there and do it then, but would prefer to become more aware of a good way of booking in UK. Is there an equivalent of Skyscanner for rail travel?
  7.     Having just registered a car in France we have since decided to reimport it back to England. We had not yet notified the DVLA of the move to France. We have got a copy of the V5C from them . Is it necesary to deregister in France and if so how do we do this? Any help much appreciated.
  8. We are hoping to renovate our bathroom in our appartment in an old town house in Bordeaux city. Can anyone recommend a supplier of baths, taps and tiles? We have tried Leroy Merlin and Cedeo but would like to see more. Experience of a builder capable of doing the work would also be helpful. Many thanks     JD
  9. Thank you for all the valuable info re travelling to Bdx in this winter. Have just come back from Bdx to Bristol via Easy Jet and have been shown their new routes. They are nearly all to eastern Europe! It looks as if Ryanair have the same idea too looking at their sale offers in the paper last weekend. How does one convey a need to these airlines so they at least restore the summer schedule back to normal. I've had no response from Easyjet by email. Has anyone travelled from Bergerac to Bdx by trian having flown into Bergerac airport? Likewise from Toulose to Bdx? Have even thought of flying to Paris from Exeter and then taking the TGV to Bdx.  J.D.
  10. There don't seem to be any flights this winter to Bordeaux except  from  Gatwick and Luton. Does anyone know if there are more to be added? If not is it easy to go to Toulouse and then catch a train? Perhaps it's better to fly to Paris and then TGV to Bordeaux? Any ideas welcome!   J.D.
  11. Bike bought in Go Sport in the sale. Absolutely loved cycling around the city in the sun. Furniture was eventually bought at a brocante and painted. Hard work but great result. Cost about 20% of shop prices. Apartment beginning to look very tasty.  Thanks for advice.
  12. Thank you for the advice. Can bikes be taken on the buses do you know?
  13. We have just bought an appt in central Bordeaux. We are hoping to manage without buying a car but are finding it difficult to explore the whole city in our search to find suppliers of the following :-  painted french style furniture, occasional lighting and cycles.  Can anyone point us in the right direct please. thank you.  JD
  14. We used Furniture for France. The sofas and sofa bed we have are perfect. They just invite you to sit down and relax. They are of a traditional style and you have a choice of fabric and style. They deliver from Engalnd on a day to suit you with only a small delivery charge. See their website for info.  JD
  15. We have just returned from Angouleme and estate agents are saying that Ryan Air will be flying into Angouleme next year. The runway is being extended. More info  would be helpful if anyone can update.
  16. Thank you for your advice, am actioning it right now! J.D.
