1. I tether my ipad2 (3G) to my phone ... Too cheap to have data plan for both!
2. Once a week during the winter? If this was a financial product .... It could be called churning :) Our cover stays on after winter treatment applied, comes off in April. Very cold then yes, Possibly get pump circulating (dependant on installation of equipment) but otherwise, I am sorry, but that is needless expense IMHO.
3. Just booked my return thru BF, cabin both ways and car, for Xmas/NY. OB to StMalo, rtn Cherbourg. Pretty reasonable with Owners Club discount.
4. Our 3 lemon trees in pots love the weather during the summer. Come Late October we put them in an Easterly facing room with patio doors - watered but not feed thru to Spring. Trees provide us with lemons throughout the year. Peach tree went mad this year and produced 6-7 kilos of fruit ... sadly the rest of the crop was invested with wasps. I would add photos but how? using an iPad?
5. Buy a Scuba+ online - if you search you will pick one up for around £100. Type in Scuba+ on French Forums for a pointer. Reviews very good.
6. Not Minnie, They will accept an address outside Germany ... for us Gibraltar, UK, Italy and France.
7. Used ADAC for 9 yrs - very effective. Friends have needed their services and rated them highly. They even covered me in Turkey on my motorbike!
8. Look to remove them asp. Start proceedings so they are not resident at the start of winter.
9. You could make limoncello yourself. 1 litre alcohol plus loads of lemon peel, seal in a jar for a month. Boil 1 litre of water with 300 gm sugar ... sieve lemon peel from alcohol ... and lemon infused alcohol to warm water. Jobs done. Friends in Naples raid my lemon trees and constantly have a vat or two on the go :)
10. Can't go wrong with a Nikon. My wife has a D80 with a couple of decent lenses - seems to fit the bill. D3100 has good reviews.
11. Virginia, I understand your thoughts. Offering your property is voluntary - it costs little time and may prove more effective than the property websites. They have stated the area and are flexible. They have viewed many properties and are returning in July - they will continue to look until they find the property that suits. Not looking for a large house, but needs to have been professionally renovated with stables and land. They have extended their search area to include Limoges. I don't need to get further involved - just a potential sale for somebody with the right property at a sensible price. :)
12. Over the last 2 years we have installed underground 2 x 3000 litre citernes for rainwater collected off house and garage. We use this for watering the garden once the well dries up (normally Aug but appears to be drying up already!). In addition we have 3 waterbutts, filled from well, giving us an additional 1000 litres. Surplus water from the roof goes direct to the duck pond. Not bullet proof but a start.
13. They are flexible to a point. I have no wish to state a budget. Offer the property at your asking price and if they are interested they will contact you. Not being awkward just honest.
14. Each to their own. I prefer a modern BMW 'cos, fingers crossed :), it gets me from A to B with minimum fuss. I have toured all over Europe and farther (Morocco thru to central Turkey, Crete thru to Germany) in all weather. When it is cold then thank you for heated seats and handlebars, when it is hot then thank you for electrically adjustable screen to keep the bugs out of my face, when it is raining ... Thank you for all the above and ABS :) Riding continuous for some 35 years I have worked up from crotch rockets (Ducati), thru Sports Tourers (VFR) to my last 2 bikes (R1150RT and now R1200RT). Everybody will find the bike that suits their needs and brings a smile to their face ... whether for a local nimble or a blast across continents. Vern
15. Our LHD scenic (2008) has a card .... when we bought it, UK dealer tried to show us going from KPH to MPH - European spec won't :) Not a big issue since we only go back once a year. GPS plus 30/48 50/80 60/96 68/110 seems to work.
16. I'm with Sid - I have BMR cowling mount for my Nuvi 660 on the bike connected thru Bluetooth to my Caberg Jet (Summer) or my 5 helmet (European winter and/or British summer). Brilliant bit of kit, listen to instructions if not sure then quick drop down to look at map - BMR.com mounts are brill. In Italy, I go for a bimble and get thoroughly lost then, to go home, just switch on the bluetooth.
17. We had a similar thread on this last year. A lot of folks relaxed with their Macs - I mentioned at the time (as a Mac user) that I used security software - working on IT tends to make you very wary of bulletproof systems :)
18. Good afternoon, 1. We are looking to cover our terrace with paving slabs (York stone etc) or beton imprime. The area is approx 90 sq m of suspended concrete beam terrace with a couple of new paths (10 linear metres) to install. 2. Concrete slab 10 x 5 m x 20 cm. Ground flat. Good access for digger. 3. Driveway. 2 x 5m kerbstones to install and approx 140 sq m of membrane and gravel to sort. Some digger work required for levels. 4. Level off our large spoil pile ready for topsoil. Looking for this work to be done by start of November; or, if successful artisan too busy, commence beginning of March for completion 1 May 2012. Looking for registered (in ground work and paving not gardener) and insured artisans only. Please be prepared to furnish references that are content for us to look at work. PMs please for both recommendations AND, as importantly, negative experiences. If you are able to furnish contact details or website then great. Area: just south of Chef-Boutonne. Thank you, Vern
19. I am selling a large Weber BBQ - grateful for information how to get it delivered within France. Is there a courier company you use? Thank you Vernon
20. Perfect timing, R1200RT registered with old size plates last month. It fits snugly under rear light assembly
21. Dave, I tried the same, with companies like ADA, to no avail. In the end hired my 13 cu m van thru Amicoblu.it. Unlimited kilometers, full risk for 4 days for discounted rate of €512. Trip Naples - 79 - Naples .... Going back tomorrow.
22.

Err actually Mr Stupid has two UK licences (best not go there)
Err, no he doesn't. Your OH's most recently issued UK licence automatically cancelled any and all previous ones rendering them utterly worthless. If he fraudulently offers up an old cancelled licence for exchange then in due course the Prefecture will return it to DVLA when the deceit will be revealed and he will be in far more serious trouble than a mere speeding fine.
But having a fake license will then match folks not having re-registered their vehicles ... so Brit Plates, No MOT, No Excise Tax (cos folks have declared their vehicle off-road thru SORN), fake license and no insurance. This is not aimed at OP and I am not looking to introduce thread creep. Just humour with an underlying message
