1. You're right NormanH - I'm a lightweight on the forum.  I do a lot of heavy /serious during the day so on the forum I like a bit of fluffiness. Just had a look and a cremation costs around 2,600 euros including coffin, urn and if you don't want to be 'scattered' this also includes a columbarium.  That's much cheaper than a burial isn't it?  No wonder people are opting for this these days.

 3. I think you should idun! Good song by the way -  and yes it's very expensive to die in France[:(] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrQsGeKN6qk Could maybe someone beautiful and clever like Clair or Russethouse make a new thread called 'Songs you want at your Funeral' Please?  x
 4. Weedon! I would sing it for you but then,  that would mean.... Here are the lyrics Le Temps Qui Reste Combien de temps... D'accord?
 5.
As I am probably a lot nearer the age of falling off my perch than a fair number of you, I have given a bit of thought to what music I would like played as my (hopefully) very expensive coffin goes gliding away through the curtains. And this is it. Wish I could be there to see the reaction.
Lovely choice of song! I can't stop changing mine! "Ding Dong The Witch is Dead" used to be one of them! Another one I love for those of you who speak French is this one by Serge Rianni 'Le Temps Qui Reste' NormanH will know it if he hasn't foutu le camp de ce fil! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOSLf_-4fG0
 6. Mr. Collins innit?  Met him when he had much less hair! Here's my song of the day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-H0uIH5HHQ&ob=av2n
 7. Well thanks for that NormanH! Ashes to ashes.....etc. for this thread then R.I.P.
 8. I knew you'd like it! They were great weren't they - Les Inconnus? Nice to see you too M'mzelle[:)]
 9. It's that time again! Watch this - even if your French isn't too good - you'll get the gist of it!   Very funny and so true!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH2GdDrJpKg
 10.
OK. As usual I know nothing and will re-hibernate. http://www.reponseatout.com/funerailles-nouvelles-regles-cremation-a-8928,102.html
Oh for Gods sake! Are you any relation of Ron of the Aveyron?
 11.

Ok. Another good reason for me to stop posting again. I try to give sensible and known information for people who live in France (The Forum is called 'Living France' ) and I am completely ignored by people who assume they will die in England. Why are they posting here?
Are we having a tantrum NormanH?
No.cilostazol, I think this thread is a bit of a joke, whereas I was trying to give practical ( and largely unknown apparently ) information for people seriously living in France for the rest of their lives. Sorry to have intruded.
Well it wasn't intended as a joke NormanH.  I'm extemely hurt by that remark.
 12.

No.cilostazol,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cilostazol I'm confused [8-)]
 13. So Krusty you choose to be laid wherever you may roam? Me too![:D]
 14.

(The Forum is called 'Living France' )
A 'Dead in France' forum would be a bit quiet.
Why are they posting here?
Because they can. [:P] There are crematoriums (crematoria?) in France. I believe there's a very nice new and shiny crematorium in Caen (or there's due to be) for eg. Where's the difficulty in arranging it? http://www.afif.asso.fr/english/cremation.htm
Dead in France! Love it!!!!  A buisness idea for funeral parlours for ex-pats!
 15.
I don't really care. I don't believe in Heaven or Hell (although on an off day I feel I might be living the latter) nor reincarnation, this is it, as good as it gets. So seeing as I will be dead it won't worry me. The only people that it effects is those that out live you but then why panda to their wishes?
Hello Quillan ye of the chilly office! So is it just my  French in-laws that make such a fuss of where they want to go when they pop their sabots?  Personally I wouldn't want to have to make that sort of decision for anybody. It's bad enough losing a loved one without the dilema of deciding where they should be laid to rest.   Well it's important to me anyway. (Stamping my foot and puffing out my cheeks 'cos' you're not playing my game now!)
 16.

France or Britain?
Anyway Twinks , why only two choices ?
Just wrongly assumed most of you lot living in France are British ex-pats [:$] Okay! France or Wherever You Hail From
 17. I don't have a clue where I'll die - it could be while I'm cockle picking in Blackpool on a holiday with my French husband  (when I'm much older [:)]) I want to be buried in France even though I was born in Britain.
 18.
Ok. Another good reason for me to stop posting again. 19. You too Catalpa x Well I obviously expect people to get on planes from all over the world to come and pay their respects to me [:P] Why am I thinking about things like this?  Maybe my Catholic upbringing.
 20.
My ashes to be spread in the sea in Lyme Bay or on Ham Hill in Somerset.
Is there enough of your lovely self to be spread on a bit of both of those places?
 21.
I am a member of the Association de Crématistes, and if you wish to be cremated as opposed to being buried I suggest you look into it, as cremation is far from either the norm (no pun) or automatic in France, a situation which comes from the importance of the Catholic church.
I want to be buried thank you NormanH
 22.
Hi Twinkle , I will let my survivors decide and, hope that I get another 20 years !
Long Live Leo x
