1.
As someone who is looking forward to my move to France I find it quite worrying that  I will not be made welcome by some of those who have gone before me.  During my many visits all over France I have never met any coldness from the French people and will enjoy sharing their culture and, hopefully, their friendship.  I will, however, not turn my back on people because they are British.  I speak as I find  -  good in all.  Until they, personally,  prove me wrong.
Hi Pip, As Neizcthe said " What doesn't kill you makes you stronger", so here I am back on the forum trying to behave! A few  golden rules 'bout living in France.  Use the local commerces, don't forget market day now & again (not just the summer months[;)])  have a demi at least one a week in the local café (otherwise they'll start thinking you're not  British!) Attend the local "spectacles" whenever you can - don't forget the fete de la musique 21st Juin.  You'll be adored by the local French for wanting to be part of the community. Also make sure they hear you speaking french (however badly[:$]) wherever you wander! If you want to get on with the local Brits join the badmington club[:O][:|]
 2. >Edit< Interesting, the forum software turns French *** into asterisks as well as English ***...< [8-)]
 3. I gave in last night because "somebody" upset me, and I ate 2 tubes of my daughters smarties that I bought for her birthday party! But I'm just back from my hour & a quarter of circuit training so hopefully ... Thanks Alexis for the Salmon recette, I do tend to eat rather a lot of meat on this diet, does it make you irritable?  As for the cheating with the alcohol, well it's still working for me but i'm definitely keeping off it 'til Saurday.  Ok, I'm going back to the naughty corner now - AGAIN[B][pi]
 4. Thank Tresco, you're gorgeous! I'll pm you soon.
 5. Thanks KKK. It doesn't matter anymore, yes I did enjoy the distraction of it all but it's all gone a bit sour for me now.  I didn't realise I was being cheeky to a moderator (Russethouse) you know how dizzy I am sometimes.  Well anyway, I've been told off and warned and I feel like a naughty 7 year old, and I don't like it. I didn't mean to offend ANYONE I genuinely thought that we were all ex-pats having a laugh and at the same time getting valuable advice. I'm not feeling sorry for myself, but I do find quite a few of you rather stuffy.  I've been here for 17 years and I run like the wind in the opposite direction whenever villagers tell me that there are some British people in the vacinity.  I'll do the same with forums from now on.  Apart from Tresco, I really didn't feel any of you to be quite human. Oh well it was an experience. Perhaps I'll take up knitting to get me through to Spring. Bye, bye[8-)]
 6.
If anyone knows of a caravan for sale could you let me know? We are in 87, close Rancon - Cheers Simon
My in-laws are selling their "camping car", sleeps 4. If you're interested I can inquire about the price.
 7.
"So sorry Mrs. Smith" Noooooooo! No relation. Come on twinkle. It was a bit close to the bone. You and Dicksmith got off to a very bad start. One of the worst I have ever seen. I hope this situation is recoverable. Miki's back!
He shouldn't have called me twinkly!  And why didn't you come to my rescue when thingybob said that me, KKK and le bouffon (can you belive that) are all the same person?[:'(]
 8.
Cheers both.  I only paid £1k for it but being an old merc it will probably (hopefully) outlive the lot of us.  It has already paid for itself in the saving of car hire and the worry if damaging the hired car.  I would truly like to gift it to my friend.  In return she collects and takes me to the airport and I will use it on my visit.  This has already been suggested with the warning of consequence should we fall out.  I cant ever see this happening realistically so if anyone knows of any further consequences which could arise out of this arrangement I would be pleased if you could make me aware of them.  Thank you.
It could happen sweetie if we keep using this forum! Joke everyone!! Please do NOT be offended
 9.

"You are correct. That's why they specify those below the median income, ie the point halfway between the richest and the poorest, not the mean (average)." My God, Dick! Are you this exciting in bed?[:S]
Mod hat on - That is quite far enough on the personal post front, you may think it vastly amusing, however others do not. Please respect ALL the other members of the forum, some of which may not share your sense of humour nor the hi jacking of discussions . We all enjoy a little levity from time to time, please just choose your moment more carefully Mod hat off
So sorry Mrs. Smith
 10.
Thank you.  He seems to be doing very well. A hula hoop sounds just the thing.  I had one too.  Bit of washing line and my "gym" will be complete! Don't think I am being good about the booze.  Just not on it at the moment.  It isn't a deadly sin on Atkins so I could have a drink if I fancied.
Hi Alexis I started Atkins last Sunday and because of my work and friends visiting I've had lots of wine plus quite a bit of vodka this week but after weighing this morning, I've still managed to drop 2 kilos!  I'm getting bored of the meat and cheese though and am craving chocolate so bad![:P]

 12. Pressed the wrong button - again! Ok try this one sweetie http://voxcartes.sympatico.ca/card/8I1ytzk32Hg5oSUj1ENTha
 13. Hello KKK! Very important message for you http://voxcartes.sympatico.ca/service/?timestamp=1142803470&referrer=audio_tts&s0=ConvertTextToSpeechForVeeper&s0p1=voice_name&s0v1=fr_ca_f_001&s0p2=text_to_speak&s0v2=AlloAllo%20Kaiti%20kopi%20kate.%20doux%20note%20for%20gaite%20maille%20ti%20bagse%20darhligne&s0p3=appended_text&s0v3=&s1=ShowPage&s1p1=page&s1v1=audio_tts&s1p2=on_error&s1v2=audio_tts
 14. KKK will be very embarrassed about this one!  A couple of years ago she and her family came over to France and while driving down decided to look for a hotel to spend the night.  They saw a nice big one in the town centre that looked very smart, flower boxes, beautiful brick work etc...  Because she sounds like the woman who's a french spy off 'Allo 'Allo when she tries to speak french she sent her 13 year old son in to inquire if there was a room available for them.  The poor child came running out red as a beetroot after he tried  to book a room from the mayor of the town.   You've guessed - the name of the hotel? "HOTEL DE VILLE"  And she has the cheek to complain about poodles at the check-out![:^)]
 15.
CUL? please explain.   I was driving in Ireland of all places.  Took a bend a sign said slow.  Carried on around the bend another sign said slower.  The truth!!  Also Gwesty is welsh for hotel.  In wales you have the welsh and english on a sign.  My english friend thought Gwesty Hotel chain had the monopoly.
Ass, sweetie! [:$]
 16.
I heard of an American girl on a coach trip across Australia who announced on the third day that there seemed to be an awful lot of small towns called "Truck Bay"........ Chrissie (81) When I first came here I thought all the villages were called Rappel.  But hey! I would wouldn't I?[8-)] I'm in 81 too[:)]
17.
Thanks Quillan,  That is what I am worried about incase my mate Twinkle injures some high earner.  if she insured it legally with French Plates would be a problem having me and my husband as non resident named drivers and if so who gives the best deals.  Hope someone can help cos I am a bit of an ostrich when it comes to all this stuff.
Would you mind not imagining me having accidents in your Merc please, I've had enough already in my INSURED Citroen thank you[8-|]
 18.
Ms Kat: You're back! She never replied to me. It's over. You can have these if you like. I found them in the back of the cupboard.
Give me a chance!  Some of us work on Sundays you know? I've only just got from rehearsing all day so as I don't sound third rate! I shall be pm ing you as soon as I get five mins.
 19.
Is she into vibrators?
No, but they're into me!! HaHAHa!! Can't believe I misssed that one first time round[8-)]
 20.
As mentioned on the CompleteFrance postbag 16 March I was working AND on St Pats day but we did have fun as well, even though Quillan didn't have b***s to show up, but then he wouldn't would he/she? Confused? Me too! Still think you're the lovliest person on this forum[:D] But I have nowhere to stay in Carcassonne, would you put me up. If I wanted to listen to Irish music I would go home to Carrickmacross, I certainly wouldn't travel to listen to third rate stuff in Carcassonne.
I don't do Irish music I do Janis, Aretha,James Brown,Prince,B52's,Fugees..and lots of other cool stuff - and if i do say so myself it is NOT third rate or I don't think I would have 90 bookings a year. So stick that in your helicopter and smoke it![:#] And they're all above board Bouffon - I'm Intermittent du Spectacle before you start threatening me with the french authorities[:)]
 21.
Presents are always difficult. Ideally something not too heavy to carry (as you are travelling). Something traditionally British may be nice or something not readily available in France. Something that lasts (maybe even lasts a lifetime). Better if you can find something she has not got already (duplicates are always embarrassing). Something that is fun to use and will give the recipient hours of amusement. Only one answer really – a peerage. Ian
Oh yes she bought the lightest gift possible - Bugger all!  She even forgot my P.G. Tips and local rag! Always nice to see her though - the back of her preferably[;)]
 22.
Is she into vibrators?
Read an article that all 40 year old women own a vibrator. I am and I don't.  All my British friends do but if you mention the word to a woman here she looks at you like you're a harlot![:$]
 23.
Crikey wen. Ms K Kat is talking about her friend who is also a forum member (Twinkle*) They will be getting up to all sorts of mularkey as its St Pats day. Hope Twinkle had a nice time [^]
As mentioned on the CompleteFrance postbag 16 March I was working AND on St Pats day but we did have fun as well, even though Quillan didn't have b***s to show up, but then he wouldn't would he/she? Confused? Me too! Still think you're the lovliest person on this forum[:D]
 24.
I agree Deimos.  A big Fruitcake or even Nuts.  Nice.....................[:D]
Fruitcakes, Christmas cake/pudding, mince pies just 3 reasons why I fled Britain!
