  1. Is it the norm to pass this tax onto your tenants if they are long term though?
  2. How does it work for holiday homes then? Don't they pay any?
  3. I've read through previous posts, but I cannot find an answer to my question.  I understand Fonciere taxe relates to ownership & d'habiation to occupancy. But does your earnings have any bearing on Habitation?  Is it the norm to split this on a long term rentals? Say six months one tenant and six months another?
  4. Just to say thank-you for the info - car sold and money in the bank, well spent now on my tax Fonciere
  5. Could someone tell me when they issue these taxes?  We've owned our house since Feb 2005 and I think at the time we paid the previous owner back for the 2005/2006 bill's.  We only moved into the property in Jan 2006 and have just realised we've not had new bills through!!!!!! Prob our fault, but can anone tell us if they are sent automatically, or is there something we need to do? Thank-you
  6. SundayDriver thank-you for that. I def don't have finance on the car so is it REALLY req to get a Cert de Non Gage?
  7. So they were right. OK I'd better get that sorted for when they collect the car next week. Where would you obtain such an form? Thank-you
  8. I've hopefully sold my car & was wondering if there was anything specific I had to do apart from mark on the carte grise.  I bought the car over here and don't remember any other forms being given to me, but a friend mentioned I had to send forms to the French eqivalent of the DVLA, and give forms to the new owner. Can anyone advise?
  9. I don't know is the answer to your question. But why don't you contact wedding shops, organisers etc. I'm sure they would know and would make good contacts.
  10. What twadle. One of the things people would say when we said we were moving here - France would be alright if it wasn't full of French!  I believe french people are more polite, friendly and helpful then most Brits these days.
  11. Sundaydriver, I'm 79 which tax office did you go to for the english instructions?
  12. off subject, but Harley what a beautiful choice of picture. Gosh he's a handsome man. You've just made a bored housewife smile!
  13. I think you can just park at the airport - are they charging now???
  14. Does anyone know anything about the Honour System of registering your company?
  15. I would echo all of the above, but also mention the following.... How often is your partner planning to return?  Because trust me it is ten times tougher than you think it will be.  You have to deal with registering for health care, doctors, dentists, car, insurance etc etc & if you don't speak french it can be really hard work. I know from experience. Don't get me wrong, it is strangely satisfying doing all this. I only speak a limited amount of french & these forums are invaluable, but it's the seperation from your partner for you both that you need to think about. I live in a different area to you and I have been lucky. I have fantastic french neighbours, I have met quite few people & things have been ok. But the hardest thing of all is the seperation from my partner. If I can offer you any advice it would be this, think long and hard about moving unless you know for sure your partner will be home regularly; because if there is a nightime drama or daytime for that matter - and with kids there always is, you are long way from home when no-one is with you and you don't speak the language. I'm really not trying to be neggy, just realistic. I truely wish you all the best.
  16. Just a thought, but if you keep your shutters closed all the time; you must spend your life indoors in darkness?
  17. I think it's going to be seasonal flights only.  Back to good ole Ryan Air then.......
  18. Katiekopykat, I said I'm new to this, not stupid.  Did make me giggle though, cheeky mare!
  19. gardening lark, so I haven't got a clue what most bugs, slugs and creepy crawly things are - even whats growing in the garden at the moment is a mystery, but I'm slowly learning. I do have one question though: what are those red & black beetle things that are EVERYWHERE & should I be protecting my garden from them?
  20. I've found that the marie is keen to assist new people to the area and the reason I mentioned it was because I'm aware of someone who really upset her local marie because she didn't use the local school. But then again knowing her,  it could be more to do with her then the marie!!!! I'm sure your little girl will be as resiliant as most kids and get on well no matter  where you send her.  As the previous posting mentioned the hardwork doesn't kick in until they are 6!
  21. I don't know of schools, but I was under the impression that children tend to go to the local school. If you wish to send her to another school under a different Marie, you need to explain to your Marie why !!!!  Surely in terms of building a group of friends she's better off going where the local children go?
  22. Didn't know where to post this - but do the clocks go forward here at 2am as they do in the UK?
  23. Thank-you. Seems the time of year for people to do the driveway!
  24. Rob,  I too have sent you a PM.   Cheers
