  1. Cheers Frederick I haven't tried a Flunch yet but I may
  2. Hi Hoddy, I have no idea how many there may be in France but if people were to put it out on their French FB who's to say how far the message may go? Cheers Mac
  3. Noticed this post on FB earlier and as the names involved sound French thought it may be an idea to pop a link up here. Anyone know of French people of the same name visiting Scotland? You would need to cut and paste into your browser as I don't see a link - link https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=851873608172228&set=a.559184147441177.141669.100000487899918&type=1&theater
  4. No problem, They will look at my UK license plate and be impressed by my mannerly demeanour and send my on my way ..Arrow cans notwithstanding French people tend to like the Scots.
  5. Happy Neerday Rabbie! lol FLUNCH???? I have had a few fluid lunches in my time..maybe I am more Gallic than I thought
  6. Hi Jon, I haven't heard of 'Quick! Pass me a bucket' doesn't sound like a hotbed of epicurean delight... Still I have been BIG MAC for about 22 years kinda attached to it now ;-)
  7. I presume steel tools are ok for the purposes of putting the mortar in it's only the refinishing I need to be going to what - wood or plastic to trowel in any fissures then a stiff brush?
  8. I am not sure I would have thought of doing it your way straight away but I would probably have got there in the end. Teenage sons..yeah....I had a couple of those...much use as a handbrake on a canoe...nice lads but handless lol
  9. Cheers Chancer I should have seen that coming for some reason my brain just wasn't getting it, I now see three reels on a steel bar suspended on an axle stand each end the draw cord already in the gaine and affixed to a set point then connected to the three cores drawing the gaine back over the draw cord then moving the axle stands back to spool out cores and slide the gaine over...not sure if I explained it any better but at least I have the image now, ta
  10. Lets see will I be sticking 50p worth of stickers on a £400 Arai? I think you know the answer to that one. I already wear a Hi viz bib....that;s yer lot
  11. You Guys! lol! The BIG MAC is of my lady wife's doing as my surname begins 'Mac' when our daughter came along she was dubbed 'Mini Mac' which in turn led to if she is a Mini Mac then Dad must of course be a Big Mac...it stuck! To be honest in the event of a nuclear holocaust and the only purveyor of food left in the World being the Golden Arches...I would probably go for a Sausage McMuffin before a Big Mac!
  12. Hi Chancer can you elaborate? I am trying to visualise what you mean about drawing the gaine over the cable.
  13. Digital hmm? I hope that kind of upgrade is a long way off yet. Thanks all...I have kinda missed the place....(don't tell anyone)
  14. I will be repointing quite a few areas and would like a good recipe for the mortar. Cost is an issue so any good tips on products and suppliers would be handy?
  15. AHA! Mine eyes are failing me...I took a look at a statement and there it is..just as described! You guys. .thanks....
  16. Hi, Is it possible to figure out one's IBAN etc from one's French Cheque book? I need to transfer some money into my French account before the Bailiffs chase me lol
  17. Ticker is still ticking old friend so bonus! Hi Clair - lovely to hear from you. HNY all
  18. Hi, For some reason I have had to re register ..maybe because I have been offline for so long (wee bit of heart trouble) I am back now and just wanted to say hello and happy new year to old friends and ones I haven't met yet.
  19. Try opening the window and ensuring the hinges are fully located - you may need to operate the latching system to achieve this. Once hinges are aligned the locking mechanism should follow suit.
  20. Thank you both Jay and Honeysuckle D – I shall give your suggestions a go. I did listen to the messages carefully and there is something at the end but I couldn’t pick it out. Sadly unless I spend a couple of weeks in France I can’t get my ears  acclimatised. I will certainly give the e-mail address a go I suppose I had better try in French and give them a laugh. Once again this forum comes up trumps . How odd is this - re the 'loading problem' if I select a post icon..it loads quicker!
  21. 1) Why does it take up to three minutes after writing the title to a post for the main field to become available for text? it's worse than the original 'dial up' 2) Main query...EDF have an English speaking service...handy as I need to explain something complicated...so complicated e-mail would be even better. EDF offer both telephone and email facilities..great! thinks I.. lets just mail them..err nope because you have to register including your email address and customer ID etc. all of which when input..still will not allow you in. Ahhhh in the English site there's a 'virtual helper'...except she only does French...and has perhaps decided its time to wash her hair or something... Lets try the English speaking phone service then?..err nope, recorded message in French - the gist is no one is home. Am I wasting my time trying or has anyone managed to fathom the mystery which is the EDF contact us English section? Cheers T
  22. Cheers Chancer, I don't know if the DIY systems can be used with end to end joiners and are suitable for under the roof slope in an attic though. I have the roof above a 5x5 metre room to do and the chevrons are quite 'rustic' I am looking for a system with some form of adjustment to allow me to level the surfaces out - if that makes sense. I shall have a shufti on Brico depot's website and see what I can glean...Thank you
  23. Hi Folks - I am in a bit of a rush....has anyone seen any of the big sheds with metal stud on offer? I am trying to figure if I buy UK for discount or France for convenience. Thanks muchly
  24. Most tanks work on the principle that hot rises over cold and will have the cold feed enter the tank at the lowest suitable level and the domestic hot water exit at the top. Switch off mains and open your highest hot tap followed by the groupe securite (usually pull out the knob and turn) water should flow out.
  25. Have you considered a new set of pre gassed tubes?
