New Love
for some one who has never lived alone, its very hard and scary to start doing it now.
I think you may have got it already. Especially if you think of, for example, a man who has always been cared for by his woman. A daunting prospect to suddenly have to learn  even the basics of housework, cooking etc. Whilst also coping with the fact that for the first time in decades you have to eat/ sleep/ live and function completely alone. Yes there are the children and other family around.....its not quite the same though. Also, i guess, when you loose someone so close you realise life is too short and time too precious to waste, so if and when a 'new' companion comes along,  why not go for it and find some happiness and to try and ease some of the pain, because who knows you might not get another chance. Maybe its a way of coping? Maybe a lot is down to fear? Maybe its just survival? I guess its one of those questions that you don't know until you are in that situation. I personally would be pleased that they had found someone and had someone close and there for them in all ways. So sad the family no longer speak. With so much hurt already. Maybe in time they can all talk it through?
7.
Talking of Monty did you ever see the series he did , Fork to Fork ? it was fantastic I wish they would run it again.... any one know if its on video or DVD any where ? No I dont like the new guy either .... he always make me feel that I could be doing some thing else....... better than sat watching this
Oooohhh, now i don't recognise the name but i remember something with his wife in it too, and cooking. Was it that? A few years back i think?? If so it was a lovely programme.
8. Jonz! That is so adorably cute!  I would really love it sitting on my dressing table. [:)] What wood is it? How long did it take? Such a lovely idea for a piece. Are you going to do other pieces based on the same idea?
9. OMG i can't believe that there are people who don't like Monty! I am only old enough to remember Alan and then Monty, the rest were before my time. I've spent many a happy Friday watching M.D, and then on a Saturday morning waking up bursting to get into the garden. (And he does have the most amazing hands..... [Www] ) I personally think he helped to inspire a whole new younger generation of gardeners. Oh and his little cheesy 'hello' at the beginning of the episode always cracked me up! He had passion and that came across well and i found it inspiring. This new chappie just sounds patronising. The only inspiration he gives me is a desire to punch the telly. While i am moaning, Carol ,although very enthusiastic, grates on me. Her voice maybe? I am a Rachel fan, youngish, gorgeous and appealed to a younger audience. I also like Sarah Raven, gardening in a frock is cool! And Alan of course was just fab. Alice is nice too she should get a bigger part and new bloke should stop talking to her like shes an idiot! Now HE is my choice of GW presenter. (And no its not just because i fancy him!) I did email my request to the BBC, they even replied, obviously didn't agree with my choice. [:(] Now i must stop going on about gardeners world, its ruining my street cred. [:$]
10. That new man. I can't bear him. He makes me shout at the television. I have had to leave the room. Same last week. It used to be one of the very few programmes I'd watch on the telly box. It's been pants all summer too. [:(]
11. Made me giggle! [:D] Fifty impressions in 50 seconds
12. Me and himself didn't bother to register with a doctor when we first moved over. Then one day a leaflet in our post box informed us of a brand spanking new practice opening locally so we went and registered there. Saw him a few times and all was well. The next time i needed a doc i turned up there to find.....nothing. No sign on the door, the plaque gone and all locked up.  So i was pretty miffed at not being notified, especially as i was awaiting test results from him. [:@] I went and found a different practice but himself didn't bother, but when we saw that the practice had reopened with a new doctor, he register again there, saw her a couple of times but only to have her disappear a few months later, without being told about it! Today, I've just been to the dentist (different town) to an appointment which i made in person about a month ago. Only to be told that the dentist has gone. Again no phone call/ letter.(They have all my details.) Lets just say i was a wee bit annoyed! [:@] For one medical professional to vanish is, i thought, rare. Maybe not so in France? Or have i been specially selected at random? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
13. Thanks P-D, i spent a good few hours yesterday researching and reading about this scheme and didn't come across that!!
14. I have 2 black cats and haven't noticed any  dramatic difference in my luck from when i had them in England or France!! As for horseshoes, i agree with Pierre, except that i thought the reason for blacksmiths having them upside down was for the luck to run out onto the anvil/ into the shop.Every horseshoe I've seen hung up in France has been U facing down. So i should have mine upside down, and should win both ways. As for the rest of you mere mortals......i'd stay away from them!! [:)] I am not really superstitious, but the one thing that has always felt like a really bad omen is seeing a dead cat. Saw one yesterday [:'(] I normally walk under ladders, but wonder if having the black cats kinda keeps the balance?! How much did you win Punch? Are you sharing it out? Can i have some? [:D]
15. Cheers pads! [kiss] I will sue you if your wrong tho...... Some more random predictions, Winter 2008/09 forecast Probability charts See its all to do with them there El nino's messing with  your NAO i reckon. [8-)]
16. One of my fave recipes is with any small squash. Cut it in half remove seeds and fill the hole with sliced red onion and feta, season and drizzle with olive oil and roast in the oven until the flesh of the squash is tender. Yummy. Also vary  with other stuff, toms, peppers or whatever you fancy. I've been growing THIS type for a couple of years, but not tried butternut yet. Well done they look great! [:)]
17. Came across this site  with some predictions for the winter. Anyone seen or heard any other winter gossip? Normally the locals like to give their predictions, but i haven't heard any yet! (usually a load of twaddle, but interesting all the same... [Www] ) Or would anyone like to just make it up to make me feel better? [:)]
18. Meg's sweet potato growing directions: [8-|] Firstly I got a shop bought sweet pot. Check for an oldish looking one that looks like it may have some shoots starting. This is a good way to check it hasn’t been treated, if it has nothing will happen. Then I put it in a pint glass, most pointy end down, with 4 cocktail sticks in the potato, to stop it falling over and wobbling around in the glass. Then i filled about ¾ of the way up the potato with water. It needs changing regularly. I kept it in the house, started it at the end of Feb. Within a couple of weeks the shoots began to appear at the top and roots at the bottom. When the shoots were around 10cm (April or May- I can’t remember) I detached them and planted each one in a small pot of compost. They rooted amazing quickly and with 100% success. I then kept them in outside in one of those plastic mini greenhouses, and gradually hardened them off outside during the day. Then I planted them out early June. We had a very early frost last week which killed off the plants planted outside; so I dug them up at the weekend otherwise I may have dug them up a bit later, as usually our first frost isn’t until early Nov. I also tried another shop bought one and put it 3/4 in a pot of compost and kept it moist but it didn’t work, I think it had been treated.  I'll do just water again next time as its  nice to watch the roots. You can try and take cuttings from the plants for next years crop but I decided to sprout them from the potato again, as less hassle, and was fun to watch and really pretty. I shall try and save one of this year’s, to guarantee it hasn’t been treated. Dead easy and a bargain and no air miles!!! I expect a bit of a contest next year!  Any takers?! [:D] Clair, they make yummy crisp type thingies......sliced thinly coated with olive oil, seasoning/herbage, (chilli flakes are nice too) and cooked on a baking tray at the top of a hot oven. They are as versatile as..... a potato, plus low GI (good carbs).  [:)]
19. Maybe some info on here. Although it says last update was 2007! http://ec.europa.eu/civiljustice/case_to_court/case_to_court_fra_en.htm
20. It actually worked! Went from this back in March To 4.5 kg! All for about a euro. 4 very productive plants were planted out early June, some monster sized ones from those! 4 more planted out later were not very productive, plus 2 in large pots, again not brilliantly productive but worked all the same, and were very pretty plants. Next year i am going for mass production! [:)]
