  1. NO MOOKY! IT ISN'T THAT ONE HONEST! Seiously, though, what is it about Mondeos? I'm not a car man! Come on folks , do you love em or loath em? GIVE US A CLUE!!!!!!!!!!1
  2. My reply doesn't have anything to do with the topic concerned. I just saw Just Katies signature, remembered the tape and had a good ol belly chuckling session. Cheers.
  3. I'm off to pick up the Mondeo tomorrow on a "if I can sort it, I'll have it" basis. I'll let you know how I get on. Cheers for feed back. Feel better about the change-over already!
  4. thanks for your comments, bugbear and meowpoo! very encouraging. Meowpoo. Was the headlight changeover straight forward on the estate? I've been told there could be complications with the fittings being integrated with the bumper.
  5. I've been offered a Ford Mondeo for a reasonable price and I am very interested although I have been told recently that it is very difficult and expensive to change the headlights to French equivalent. Also, I've been told thst there is a Mondeo Graveyard nera to us but I think this would be good for spares. Is it true that the lights may be adjusted without having to change the headlights? The model concerned is a 94 LX. Does anyone have a Mondeo? Please advise. Good or bad move or just go for it and see? Help please! I'm confused!
  6. hi maude we bought an orange fr SIM card each and started off by trying to use the credit before it ran which obviously cost us a small fortune over a year. we eventually decided to go for the "emergency only" option and found that the cheapest route was to buy a credit ticket from the post office, copy the number onto another piece of paper and keep the number in the back of both phones until someone needs to make an "emergency call". this way, the credit isn't ticking away needlessly and as long as you check on your credit info for your SIM card and make sure it is "used" before the expiry time, you can recieve calls and have the comfort of your secret stash of credit. bon courage and may we never need to make the "emergency" calls too often. long live the misers
  7. how did your fosse fuse all your lights? need to know! will not sleep tonight or flush the toilet again until I know I'm not in danger of a power cut due to faulty septic tank.
  8. As far as I know, it is "normal" to pay at least 5 euros per month to have a debit card for our non-interest earning current accounts. I bank with Credit Mutuel and I am also charged 2.50 euros per month for the privilege of having a non-interest current account at their branch. Is this really "normal", or am I just paranoid?[S]
  9. Thanks for your comments Chris, Nick and Tony. Never thought about the toxin issue. We've got a four month old boy and I'd settled for mopping for a while until the better weather arrived but I'll have to make a move now. we bought the house cheap with a "no guarantee" clause from the previous owner so we can't really follow your suggestion, Tony, and by the way, what's castine, please. Could be the way forward for us. Thanks.
  10. Thanks for your comments folks. Expense is the big issue here,  hence the purchase of a Q-plate in the first place. It just seems a shame (as I said before ) that a "good runner" Can't be run just because of bureaucratic paperwork! Anybody need a van for spares? Am I allowed to put that in a forum? If not "I'm only kidding ". Honest.
  11. The back of our house is built approximately one metre into a banking which slopes up to a D-road about three metres away from the building. When it rains heavily( as it often does of late in our neck of the woods ) the rain water finds its way into our kitchen and the mop bucket gets over-time and a half .     What's the best way to put in a land drain to help prevent this and or, does anyone think it would be worth approaching the mairie as most of the water is running off the road and on to our property. Any ideas or examples of past experiences in this field would be appreciated.[um]
  12. I bought a Q- plate van to get our gear over to France and have hit a hurdle with the registration of the vehicle to a French plate. The manufacturer will not issue a C. O. C. and the "service de min" will not issue the van with another chassis number without all the receipts for all modified parts which I don't have. The van is a great runner, has passed the C.T. and it seems a shame to have to dump it just because I can't provide the relevant authorities with the "relevant" pieces of paper. I've heard of someone who allegedly got "valid" insurance for more than the normally alloted three months from somewhere but I can't get any further than that. any ideas anyone?
