  1. Sorry if this has already been covered but searched through old posts and couldn't find.

Is it okay to take plants from the UK into France????  We normally spend a fortune for hanging baskets and plants in the first few days of our holiday to give some colour around the house for guests arriving later but I wonidered as we are driving this year rather than flying (and the fact my father is a keen gardener and costs less!!!) whether we could transport plants over.

    Thanks in advance

  2. This has probably been answered on the forum before but I have been unable to locate it quickly so wonder if you can help!!!

The C.T. is due on our car in January 2010 and due to unforseen circumstances we are not going to be able to get over this month in order to have it done.

The car is currently garaged and has been off the road since our last visit in October.

Question is - Is there a time limit in which you must have the C.T. completed within the due by date?

Many thanks in anticipation of a quick response.

  3. Don't like the sound of this!!!!  We were not requested to send the UK licence anywhere for points to be added (deducted - whatever)!!!  Do these points IF we are eventually asked for the UK licence applicable in the UK too?????  We are not resident in France (although have GB French registered car) but what if we are "flashed" also whilst in our GB car????  (When I say WE - I mean my OH!!!!)  Feel this getting a bit scary now!!!!!!!  Should I amputate the right foot and get him to slow down?????

  4. We were "flashed" and received a fine to our French address (car re-registered there) and on the form it said was liable to points.  However, it did not say we had to send our licence/how many points/where to send etc etc.  How do we stand on this one - fined in June and never received any other notifications from them.  I did pay the fine immediately though and the cheque was cashed very quickly too.

    Thanks for your info.

  5. Think you were just unlucky.  We returned Saturday - booked on 08.50 and crossed on the 07.49 with no extra charge.  They were running every 30 mins.  Also on the way out managed to cross 1 hr 30 mins early again with no extra charge.  Have to agree about the food outlets - both sides not very good at all.  Always found the service great though.

    Better luck next time Alane.

  6. We have just arrived back from France and whilst approaching the Telepeage at Reims noticed the Sanef office just before the toll.  On entering and leaving (10 minutes maximum) with no-one able to speak English and my VERY poor French - had the doofer on the window and off we went.  Absolutely brilliant.  Even got a little "tinfoil" bag to put the doofer in when perhaps flying to France and having to go through the scanner at the airport, and then sticking to the "French" car when we arrive.  Will be so much better when my OH has to drive alone - will no longer need to jump in and out of car, run round the front - pay - jump back in with everyone behind tooting etc.

Does anyone know if you can buy an additional doofer "holders" - the sitcky bit for the window.  I am sure by taking them off etc so often that they must eventually break, but I had hoped to put one on both cars.

    Thanks in advance.

    If It Should Be

If it should be that I grow frail and weak,

And pain should keep me from my sleep,

Then you must do what must be done,

For this last battle can’t be won.

You will be sad, I understand

Don’t let this grief then stay your hand,

For this day, more than all the rest

Your Love and Friendship stands the test.

We’ve had so many happy years

What is to come can hold no fears,

Would you want me to suffer so?

When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they’ll tend

Only, stay with me to the end.

And hold me firm and speak to me

Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see

It is a kindness that you do to me.

Although my tail its’ last has waved,

From pain and suffering, I’ve been saved.

Do not grieve it should be you

Who must decide this thing to do,

We’ve been so close we two these years

Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

  10. He may hate the journey - BUT will love his new home when he gets there!!

We still have this journey to make (although I don't know when this will be).  And as our 2 "at homers" are 18 and 16 and the two "outsiders" are what we believe to be approx 8 & 5 - I would love to hear how you go on.

    Bon Chance.

  11. Great news Pads.  We are all able to sleep a little easier tonight.  Thanks to Quillan and people like you we are able to help lots of Frankies but only if we didn't have to i.e. Dog for life not just for Christmas or when we go off for the weekend etc. etc.

Anyway, I won't start a rant but just pleased that you can rest easier now Pads.  On behalf of all the canine/feline community - THANK YOU

  12. Good luck Clair.  You WILL succeed I'm sure and the little one will be all the better for it.  Hopefully this will also calm her and who knows - within 10 years or so (that's how long it took mine to sit on my lap!!!!!) it will all be worth it.

    xx

  13. Ian

So sorry to hear of Debs accident BUT so glad to hear she is on the mend.

Take heart that so many of us on the forum are thinking of you both.  Keep up the good work (and I know it can't be easy) but we do all look forward to being updated of Deb's recovery.

  14. Well done to going legal.  Likewise our Disco was registered in March with little hassle ALL THANKS TO SUNDAY DRIVER or we would not have had a clue where to start!!  Only problem we have now is French plates but a huge GB sticker on the back door which does not want to come off.  Any ideas what to use????

The thing I find amusing is all the drivers look at and thank me (the passenger) but I am sure they are having fits when they see me applying eyeshadow or lipstick etc with no hands on the wheel!!!
