  1. we booked the ramonage when m.gaubert came to prepare a devis for some work to our roof, this was in august, but they only start the ramonage in mid october. judging from the last time we had the chimney swept the "certificate" is purely the receipt for the payment which is obviously dated, this is just for insurance purposes. by the way where are you?
  2. hi try vincent gaubert from tinchebray 02 33 66 69 78 i don't think he speaks english but his guys came to our house today a perfomed a very efficient job!!!
  3. hi i have just found this. How to type French accents Press the "alt" key while typing the following numbers on the numberpad on the right of your keyboard. You need to have the "Num Lock" function on alt + 131 â 132 ä 133 à 130 é 136 ê 137 ë 138 è 139 ï 140 î 129 ü 150 û 151 ù 147 ô 148 ö 149 ò 135 ç 145 æ hope this helps
  4. Thanks for the replies.  I think the main problem is trying to understand French grammar without a comprehensive grasp of English grammar.  To this end, I have ordered English Grammar for students of French. My level of grammar is obviously not good enough to fully understand this course, although it has to be said that the French guys that I used to work with probably had less grasp of French grammar than I have of English grammar!! Nevertheless, I must continue to try and study French to what seems to be 'A' level standard just to be accepted on a training course to learn  how to do the job I last had in the UK, drive a 19 ton lorry!!!! After over five years in France I am never surprised at the bureacracy, but one day after being told this I received a confirmation of my place on the course only two weeks after beginning the language course. However, we will continue to face all challenges and keep on keeping on!![:D]
  5. Hi I am taking a French Language course courtesy of the French Government, through an organisation called A.F.P.A. it is a postal course, with a workbook and CD, all , obviously, in French. So far so good but I have reached a wall with the aforementioned Verbes Pronominaux, can anyone give me guidance on how to get a grip with this thanks
  6. preferably pilates - but a yoga class would come a close second - near to Flers/Tinchebray/Domfront or surrounding area?  my poor unexcercised body is in desperate need!! dylan
  7. funny you should ask this ...... i've been away from the forum for a while ..... but your question has motivated me to re-inscribe and get typing! no - i have not read the book - nor am i reading the book.  but i have recently read an article by the author (in fact i think it was a short passage from the book) which made me laugh out loud (in amazement as opposed to finding it funny) - it was completely ludicrous .... this person most definitely has never lived in normandy!!! i complained about the article to my husband and my daughter, and was very tempted to write to the magazine who printed the article - but, as happens, i didn't.  and then i noticed your question - and i couldn't remain silent! i could say more (!) - but i'm interested to know why you ask the question.  are you reading the book?  as i said, i haven't read it - the article was enough for me!  but i'd love to know what you think. dylan
