  2. If you are looking for a scooter for a 14 year old, did you know that scooters built before 2004, do not need a ct, or a number plate in France.  my two kids have just purchased bikes in the UK, and it was very easy to bring them to France. I had to buy a job lot of 5 scooters, at a very good price, to make the trip whorth whgile, so if you know of anyone who needs a cheap 50 cc scooter, email me, as I just want to cover the cost of bringing them over. i have 3 left. I hope this helps someone out there. Dave
  3. Thanks everyone for you replies and thoughts, I've had a close look at the insects and I'm sure your eyesight must be better than mine as they are sooo tiny can't see any wings, but the rest of the descriptions sound right, crawling under picture glass ect, they are certainly a darned pain in the *** can't wait for them to dissappear from whence they came. Mind you where do they go and wait out the winter, do they lay eggs ? they must multiply at an alarming rate as there are so many of them in a quick space of time. Do any sprays or burners to disperse them ? Traceyh
  4. Hi , I was wondering if any one can help identify the millions, and I mean millions of tiny insects that are invading our home, they are on all white surfaces, in bathroom, backs of curtains, cream walls, infact even t-shirts whilst we are wearing them. The insects are very tiny, say less than 1 millimeter, they wriggle/crawl around and they boys say they even bite. Please help with advise as to what they are and most of all how we can get rid of them !!!! Ps they are not fleas or midges as these can not fly or jump Thanks from the lady on a black t-shirt !
  5. you lot are so funny, but I haven't a clue what you are talking about, therefore if I did it would probably be very funny indeed and as I'm already smirking to myself perhaps too much knowledge would be a dangerous thing Traceyh
  6. Thanks for your replies, we will try McDonalds and some other local attractions Tracey

  8. Please please please can some one give a home to the cats and kittens that we have. We have neutered all the females, bar one, but she has had 4 kittens, and if we can not find homes for them, I fear the worst. they are all friendly cats, which will live in doors or outdoors, and will help keep down your mouse population. We will deliver within 50km, or you can visit us between St Lo and Vire in Normandy. Thanks
  9. Hi Everyone, we have a 17yr old son who will shortly be finishing lycee for the summer and wondered if there are any holiday jobs for youngsters as he will be off for nearly 3 months and would like to earn some money for the summer. We are inbetween St Lo and Vire and would like something fairly local, although he has a scooter and is therefore mobile. Kind thanks for any interest Traceyh
  10. What have you got, I am allways interested in cheap cars. Will travel if the price is good.
  11. A stone house looks grreat but is b***y cold in winter and will cost an arm and a leg to heat. Our 1880s house now has plasterboard, insulation and white pvc windows. Its cheap to heat I don't have to paint the windows every year, and no mould appears on the walls. The rooms are warm in deep winter, and as I pump free water from a well, and heating costs are low, I can not imagine any sensible person not liking it!! only a fool or someone with a listed building puts in what was in fashion 50 years ago. lomg live plasterboard and insulation, a warm house and i can still enjoy the same great view. Ps its started snowing here !!
  12. What do you know , white ciment, a bit of sand to colour, and the whole of my walls look great. Why buy expensive bits when sand and ciment blanc do the trick!! And yes Bod is a friend of my Nans logder!![8-)] Some times I think we like spending money!!
  13. Could be that your right. the roof is now tin, but the A frame where the wall has moved has been packed with about 4 inches of wood, so that the purlin runs level. maybe the previous roof was much heavier, and caused the movement, many years ago, as the roof line now looks Ok Would the tie rods you suggest be the type that is a threaded bar with a large cross on each outer wall? Or would it be something else. Also to prevent the a frame spreading further, could we add some support, and if so any ideas. thanks   dave
  14. We have a stone building, that has the front wall coming away from the side wall , and we want advice on how we can overcome this. The buliding is two stories high, and the front wall shows movement in the top 6 feet, where it has come away from an internal wall which is stone and runs the width of the house , by about 3 inches at the top. The top 3 feet of this wall changes from stone to mass if that makes a difference. The internal wall is some 10 feet from the end wall, which also has some signs of spliting away from the front wall. I have an idea that I can take down the top 1 feet of walls, and put in a ring beam of concreate going from the front wall, to the two walls that run the width of the building and to the back wall. I would then reinforce the beam with steel rod  box sections to tie them together. Has anyone else had a similar problem, and if so does our idea sound Ok, or do you have other ideas? Thanks
