1. I bought a cheap gadget ( can't recall its name) like a metal sieve with a turning handle. It makes the nicest mash I have ever had , real comfort food with a clove of garlic added or grated cheese or just lashings of butter. Lovely.
2.  You know what you want, so go after it , but pre warned is pre armed.[:D] I wish you well.
3. The pots that I have seen for sale in France don't seem to have names! Just what they can be used for and more importantly (to the French) where they come from.
4. Ah,  a winking  p .u. s. s .y. Sleep tight!
5. http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/661390/ShowPost.aspx I would love to know how it all ended.
6. I have respect for all servicemen and women doing a difficult job where split second decisions are made under pressure. Inevitably and sadly some mistakes will be made. However, having read the transcript  of this video and others like it, it does appear that there is a 'playstation' mentality in the way Americans react and the terminology that they use when they are killing human beings from a distance.  I don't know if this is the same for all service personnel, I can only comment on  the US tapes etc that I have seen, I am not anti American.
7. There was a lady on the forum last year that was trying to sell a property or buy out her friends' half and there were all sorts of complications ( and both parties were still alive). It was a friendship threatening and costly situation to be in. I don't know how it all ended.
8.
We are two families that wish to sell ours houses in England and buy one property in France to which we would like to run a business from.
I would start with the laws surrounding inheriting property, what you are proposing sounds like a legal nightmare!
9. I have seen my doctor since my E form expired and at my appointment today with CPAM, they told me there would be no problem in having the money refunded. So hopefully, you will be able to as well [:)]
10. Thanks for all the suggestions. Re the roasties, I will certainly try the goose or duck fat and experiment with semolina too. I love beef fillet but I will try the tranche tender as it is less expensive.  Having had lunch at their house Sunday, I am a bit worried that they might think a trad roast is death by vegetables, as they only served one type and it was very well cooked. I did enjoy it though. [:D] Is the goose fat likely to be in a tin and roughly in what part of the shop will I find it?
11. I am doing a Trad English Sunday Lunch for my French friends in a couple of weeks. I have a few problems. I don't like over done meat and I gather than the French don't either. I am not sure what would be the best joint of beef to serve them, I like roast rib but struggle to carve it and I will be under enough self induced stress [:$]  What other French cut remains tender when cooked medium rare?  I also like to make gravy with the fat and meat juices but never seem to be able to get enough out of the trimmed of all fat French meat, so fool proof tasty gravy recipes needed too. I cannot get my roast potatoes nicely crisp in France. I don't know if it's my oven or the oil I am using but they go very hard on the exterior and ooze oil . I used to use a mixture of lard and butter in the UK and that always worked well but I haven't seen lard in France.  Thanks in advance
12. It's a feuille de soins  pharmacien ou fournisseur. I have one in front of me. If your card does not come in time, I would just fill the form in and send it off to CPAM.  This is what I have done when my E106 was valid and I am still doing it now until I get my card. If they give you a prescription for anything attach a copy of that and the vignettes from the boxes of pills etc. That has caught me out and cost me in the past!
13. I buy the French News very rarely. It too, has lots of adverts by and for the expats.  If I buy anything aimed at expats, it is likely to be Britmag as I quite enjoy reading about what other English speaking peoples are doing in France and the news stories are more relevant to me. However, I normally buy a local French paper and read what I can.
14. My electric chair....still can't get my MIL to sit in it though! Seriously, I have some heated rollers that I don't use any more and I have lost most of the pins, but I can't bear to part with them as they were a Christmas present from the mid 70s and they do still heat up.
15. Just found it ( I don't know, I move to France and spend Friday night engrossed in children's history books!) Understanding History 1 Paul Shuter  " William took hostages and blinded them in front of the walls of the city of Exeter. But instead of frightening the people inside, this made them more determined to hold out.  It was 18 days before the city fell". It doesn't give a date but I think it was 1068. It does seem that they got off lightly though.
16. I can't remember either [:$] but I seem to recall that he made an example of them ( residents of Exeter) in some shape or form. I think I got this idea from a recent (ish) school text book,[:$][:$] I will try and find out more.
17. Get onto Pinot Grigio quick! Really, I have a friend that is very 'feisty' when she has Chardonnay and it is because she has an allergic reaction to something, possibly the type of grape ?  She can only drink Pinot Grigio without an adverse reaction.
18.
Billy boy is also supposed to have chopped the hands off the good folk of Alençon who took the mick out of him for his being the barstard son of a common girl when he besieged the town (possibly by hanging animal skins from the city walls? I could check but I'm tired!).
I think he did some nasty things in Exeter too. Not a chap to cross!
19. Did Harold Godwinsson get washed up on the shore and have to swear allegiance to William or was that just a pre urban myth?
20. The Ebay question comes up a lot, so it would be nice to hear from some one who is making it a legitimate business in France eg how they did it, what they are having to pay out etc.
21. Would of   rather than would have, it always gets my goat.
