1. [:-))] maybe you should offer him a packet of those adhesive nasal strips that footballers and snorers wear!
2. True, but it depends on your circumstances.  I was fortunate to have been able to give up work when my first was born so I had the daytime to catch up on lost sleep where-as my husband was out at work from 7am to7pm in a stressful job.
3. Both of my kids (both caesareans) were breast fed for 10-11 months each.  With the right choice of clothing and a good breast feeding bra (I found the ones with the zips were easier to use because you can undo and do them up with one hand unlike some clip ones) you can breast feed very discreetly anywhere, I fed them in all sorts of public places and no-one really noticed. It is very painful for the first week, but persevere, it is the best thing I have ever done. It's hygenic, costs nothing, no faffing around with bottles, teats, sterilizers, tubs of powder, it's always just the right temperature and of course the health benefits to mother and baby goes without saying.
4.

My daughter wants to know if she can have it!! It's georgeous.
5. Why don't you invite them over for a meal, fomal or informal.
6. I have a Nikon D40.  It has received excellent reviews and takes superb photographs, some of which I have enlarged to poster size and are perfectly sharp. I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
7. With the T9 predictive texting on most modern phones (afaik) this gobbledigook shouldn't be necessary now.  I use it in French and English and it's so quick using properly written whole words.
8. Pomh...Giantpanda, The fine has been increased to 135€ or 90€ if paid quickly http://tf1.lci.fr/infos/france/societe/0,,4107181,00-conducteurs-a-vos-gilets-.html
9. Don't just consider pool shops.  Our pool was built by a very good, reputable building firm with the technical pool bits sub-contracted.  It was done at the same time as a new fosse toutes-eau installation and a lot of other ground work. Couldn't be happer with the result. They are probably too far for Lalinde (unless it's the La Linde hamlet in our commune).
10. The weather is just gorgeous at the moment, mornings down to about 5 but up to 20+ during the day, clear blue skies with virtually no wind.  I was cutting the hedge today and it got too hot to work in so had to move to the north side of the hedge - looks a bit odd at the moment until I finish it tomorrow [:$]
11. I had a look at your website.  Your place looks fabulous.
my typing is still bad!
Glad to see though that someone else has written the text on the site!!
12. I am partial to smoked cheese too. Smoked anything in fact, especially home-smoked salmon [:)].  I have asked at several supermarket cheesecounters and also specialist cheese shops and in six years have never managed to find a smoked cheese [:(]
13. After reading the first page I was going to post exactly what Nectarine has written at the top of the second page! Have a contract drawn up if you really want to rent to a friend. Another thing (for your friend) to bear in mind, is that if he isn't already, after 6 months he will be officially resident in France and will need to complete tax returns etc.  What about his health cover?  Has he thought all this through?
14. According to the online dictionary I use it means that you are being removed from the list/struck off. I would be worried and find out some details from CPAM if I were you, it seems you are being removed from CMU cover from that date.
15. I use a Nivea compact powder and foundation combined when I haven't got a bit of a suntan.  The one I had last winter was nearly finished so bought another.  They've changed the packaging to a much more flimsey product and put the price up by about 2€ from just uner 10€ to just under 12€.  To cap it all, when I got home and compared the packs the new one only has 9g of product compared to 12g in last years pack [:@]
16. Other than the layers pellets and grit (crushed oyster shell) I would just worm them twice a year - I use Flubenvet as there's no egg withdrawal period, available from the UK on the net. There is an excellent forum that already has quite a few French members that you will find very useful  http://forums.thepoultrykeeper.co.uk/
17. Lemon juice in milk is also what they suggest on cookery progammes as a substitute for buttermilk.
18. It's plumber's tape (can't remember the correct name just now [:$] ).  It's used on screw thread joints to make the seal better.
19. I got stung on the leg this week by a waspie - serves me right for going to empty the kitchen waste into the compost bin in my nightie!  I used the Aspivenin straight away and used Onctose cream for a couple of days until I noticed it'd gone septic so changed to Cetavlon (Savlon).  The swelling was about 12cm across and it was really red and hot.  Then changed to some antibiotic compresses I had in stock.  The swelling is reduced as is the redness but it's still a bit septic.  If it's not cleared up in a couple of days I'll get it checked out. Bluddy hurt like hell.
20.
I don't know your circumstances, 5-E, but I think that if you qualify for dual nationality through parentage, birth or similar, you can have two passports. However if you just have a single nationality, should you change then you have to relinquish your former citizenship, and thus your entitlement to passport etc. That certainly seems to be the case if you change from British to French.
"La loi française n'exige pas qu'un étranger devenu français renonce à sa nationalité d'origine ou qu'un Français ayant acquis une nationalité étrangère renonce à la nationalité française ceci sous réserve des traités internationaux et notamment, dans le cadre du Conseil de l'Europe, des Conventions du 6 mai 1963 sur la réduction des cas de pluralité de nationalités et du 6 novembre 1997 sur la nationalité. " Taken from http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/particuliers/N111.xhtml?&n=Famille&l=N10 I'm in the process of deciding whether to take dual nationality, have all the forms etc just need to decide and put pen to paper.
21. "I was told that it's illegal to use propane indoors - only butane can be used? Haven't checked it myself but you may wish to, Lisleoise." The gas bottle is outdoors with the tube piped through the wall [;-)]
22. For our gas hob in the kitchen I use the small Totalgaz Malice propane bottles as they are not too heavy.  When we got them they were on offer with no consigne (deposit) to pay and a free détendeur.  I use the 13kg red bottles of Repsol propane for my gas BBQ, they have no consigne to pay at all.  The détendeurs can by bought at hardware stores or where you buy the gas from. Look out for special offers re the consigne and détendeurs.
23. I am no mathematician but I guess that if you converted 10 tonnes into cubic metres you would be able to work out the depth of gravel it would give you for 50 square metres [8-)] Now, somewhere there's an on-line conversion site...
24.
I must admit though, I have never seen horse on a restaurant menu.
The local auberge had horse steak hâchés on the menu du jour when we went there once. Yonks ago when I was on a school trip at Fécamp we had a half a day to explore Boulogne on our own.  I was with my horse-mad friend and down a side street she saw a shop sign with a horse on it. Thinking it was a tack shop off we set to investigate - she was none too pleased when we got there!!!
