1. Does anyone else have a problem displaying web pages with Firefox when using this forum? The problem I’m experiencing is that the word wrap switches off and in order to be able to read the posts I have to scroll to the right. There doesn’t seem to be any settings anywhere that enable me to control this. It only happens on some pages which is a bit odd. Internet Explorer (IE6 SP1) doesn’t have a problem.
2. I think that all police all over the world can come up with an excuse to stop you at any time. It's not as if you can start arguing when stopped. Unless your French is extremely fluent.[:(] I don't have a problem with being stopped as long as I'm not held up for too long. I always make sure I don't have any alcohol in my system and I do TRY to stick to speed limits although it's very difficult sometimes with drivers having the habit of tailgating or rather waiting for an opportunity to overtake at the most inopportune moment.
3.
LOL. It took the maire's secretary here five years to change her plates when she moved from the neighbouring dept to here.
Thanks Val But she is the maire's secretary and probably has a built in exclusion zone ;)
4. Thanks for the info. I didn't realise it was a month. But then I didn't realise it was free. What about the points to my licence. a) Should I, as I've read in some postings to the forum, change it to a French one? It is not clear in the postings what the correct thing is. I'm not sure I like the advice of "Wait until you are told to by the police".
5. I have been resident in France 47 for the last two and a half years and have previously imported my car which is plated as 47.  I am also on a UK driving licence. We have now sold and vacated (21 Oct 2005) the 47 house and moved, temporarily, to a rented holiday let in 33. We are now in the process of purchasing a new house which is once again in 47 but we will not be able to take up residence until three months time, approximately 01 March 2006. Shortly before we moved from our 47 address I was clocked for speeding. I paid the fine via the web and got a receipt. However it mentioned that I had incurred a 1 point penalty. Is there any urgency to sort out the following before moving to my new address in March. a) My driving licence. b) My vehicle plates. Trevoraki
