  1. Totally agree with Dave & Olive re the baked beans - ALDI ones certainly are the biz!! Bob (47)
  2. Mike - There are no parallels with the UK breakdown/get-you-home servbices as such in France. However, vehicle insurance includes the majority of those things so there's not a problem. You may even find that that more services are supplied than in the UK! Can recommend a good broker in north 47 should you need one - jest email for details. Bob (47)
  3. Mine is not taxed either - ut then it is French registered! Bob (47)
  4. There was an old RT London bus on Ile d'Oleron near St Denis, French registered but in reasonable order a few years ago. Unsure if it is still there, perhaps someone knows ... Bob (47)
  5. Thanx for replies! Reckon the 'treat with caution' approach may be of use ... Bob & Jane - north 47
  6. Seen in Eymet market yesterday in re-used water bottles a cloudy liquid called 'bourru' Dictionary only defines bourru as 'gruff'. Any ideas anyone please? Bob & Jane
  7. My wife has her own E121 as do I. Have just sent both to local CPAM, waiting patiently ....
  8. Bergerac market, Fridays, there is an English bbok stall, buys and sells. Also at Eymet 24 (Thursdays) and Issigeac 24 (Sundays).
  9. Never had any probs with peage, just open the passenger window and lean across and before anyone asks our car was a large estate!
  10. Seems odd to me as I use another non-France related forum using the same host and that has been running normally throughout the whole time that TF has been down - very odd! Bob
  11. Over the past few days we have been plagued by hordes of wasps outside. We have tried to trace the source but failed and have sprayed the stone walls outside with a suitable waspicide (if that's the right word). Any advice on tracing the nest or source is most welcome please. Bob & Jane (47)

  13. Just registered a Kangoo 1.9 diesel - 141 euros, 5cv - HTH Bob & Jane (47)
  14. Near Montaut, 47, Villereal way. Love it and like others here to stay! Bob & Jane
  15. Mitsubishi Shogun from UK to French Registration. Colt Cars were the importing concessionaires in UK, not Mitsubishi, and want £400 !!
  16. We found a superb house that was just what we wanted - except for the termites. Vendor would not treat the infestation nor accept an offer. Total cost was some £700 for the treatment and a further £1500 for the affected timbers to be replaced. That was about four months ago, we know that the property has been on the market for over two years and is still for sale! Forget that house - an even better one will turn up - eventually! Bob & Jane (47)
  17. We had one of these electronic blue light fly zappers in the UK - in five years it never so much as had one. BTW we did have it switched on and yes there were flies about ... Bob & Jane (47)
  18. My better half seems to think that she has seen such a kit in one of the Gamm Vert chain of shops, maybe in a white box with a picture of mushrooms on it! HTH Bob & Jane (47)
  19. Thanx Bannon for your recommendations - perhaps we prefer The Grauniad as we can then swat them with a social conscience ... Bob & Jane (47)
  20. Thank you Patf for bringing this thread back to a level of sane maturity, I can understand your reasons for wanting to return should circumstances prevail. Surely it was what makes one happy that is the ultimate test? Bob & Jane (47)
  21. I shall not dignify your latest tirade with any other response than this - you are equally entitled to your opinion as i and unless that is blatantly offensive then there is a right ot express it openly. I shall also not post this twice ....
  22. Thank you for your advice. I am not 'smug' etc but speaking as I find from personal experience. I recently returned to UK for a few days and totally hated the place because of stated reasons which I stand by.
  23. Something we have discussed too, we are 61 & 70 and it cannot be avoided. We both agree that we would not like to return as in either case it would mean living with family and that is not what we moved out here for. We are very fortunate in having excellent friends locally and in living in a beautiful part of France which we can appreciate without moving literally more than a few metres. The French health service is also vastly superior to the UK version. Why should either of us want to return to a country which is dirty, generally rude and ill-mannered, is full of broken promises with more to come and overcrowded? No, thank you, here we most certainly will stay! Bob & Jane (47)
  24. Thanx for the reminder Weedon - really needed that ...
  25. No, not the trouser kind! What earthly use are they in the grand scheme of things apart from providing the odd reptile or two with a snack? They irritate animals, annoy humans and around here we have some that give a very painful bite. Well - any ideas? Bob & Jane (47)
