1. this is all getting rather tedious,,,,

from orange france, the link I gave

aussi au pourcentage de bons messages bloqués par erreur.

in english, it says,,,also a percentage of good messages will be blocked in error.

that is a result of the shortcomings of spam detection software.

I think its really a no brainer, if you have suddenly stopped receiving your usual amount of spam, and your spam folder is empty, then the isp is deleting/blocking emails without any chance for you to see if it is mail you wanted or were expecting.
  2.
The innocent one got through, but not the "viagra" one. However I did receive a reply in my Yahoo mailbox saying that the message could not be delivered "message rejected OFR 513".

So, there is something going on but at least the sender does get a notification, and the mail is not exactly deleted, just not delivered.
does it not amount to same thing? you didnt get the mail, and no choice to accept or decline it! again.extract from orange website..... As a precaution, we'll block these emails AND YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THEM. The sender will be notified that their email has not been delivered.

Yes tj but we are talking about Orange in France and your link is to Talk Talk in the UK. The default option with Orange France is to turn anti Spam on and then to place spam in a separate folder when detected. YOU, that the account holder has the right to change the setting so that the spam mails are deleted on arrival. Personally speaking I have all anti-spam options turn off and use MailWasher Pro which works very well for me as I have something like 11 different email accounts to do with personal and business.

One quick question, how much does using MyDomain cost? It implies around $5.95 a month which is an extra cost on top of your ISP who normally gives you 5 free email address's and I assume you are in France.
used 'talk talk" to illustrate the point ! ISP's are switching to this style of spam detection and deletion. This is true of Orange also.......... from orange website!!!!! The email anti-virus service is provided free to all our customers. Anti-virus identifies and blocks emails and attachments that contain viruses. If someone tries to send you a message that has a virus attached, it will be blocked AND YOU WONT RECEIVE IT. In addition, there are certain types of file extensions on attachments which indicate that the attached file is very likely to contain viruses. As a precaution, we'll block these emails AND YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THEM. The sender will be notified that their email has not been delivered. As to mydomain.com its free. as to the free isp email addresses, you say you have some 11 different email addresses , all free ones I guess !, not very professional and rather unneccessary whatever your situation.
  4. Hi

the link below confirms the immediate deletion of detected potential spam email, this is the reason your spam folder is empty.

    http://www.ispreview.co.uk/story/2010/10/11/new-email-spam-deletion-measures-anger-uk-talktalk-isp-customers.html

simplest solution, is to host your own email address.

I have been using MYDOMAIN.COM for over 10 years and can recommend them.

There you can choose your domain name, set up hosting package, setup your email address and forwarding etc, for around 60 euros a year, if you prefer someone to set it in the first instance and give some instruction as how to manage it , about 100 euros for the first year, if you prefer that option give me call..
  5. Its a server side filter..

if you use your orange address for any serious business I suggest you find another email address to use.

Email is filtered as it arrives at the server and deleted, the problem is there is no foolproof software which means mail you would like to receive could be deleted without you knowing, its also a problem in UK for "talk talk " subscribers.,,

I can frankly see no difference from receiving a bill for € x for payment by cheque or credit card at the local office.

OR receiving a detailed bill containing the notification that on a given date some 3/4 weeks in the future a prélèvement will be made of € x.
I agree with you, its quite obvious you cannot, so further discussion is quite pointless!
  7.
The DD called in france an "autorisation de prélèvement" is a useful instrument to effect regular payments to an institution or commercial operation.
I think your missing the point!

Nobody denies prelevements maybe are useful to some people, and especially the organisation, the point is, I for one, and plenty of others prefer to be in control of their accounts.

And as to resolution of errors made by merchants or government bodies come to that,

no prelevements, no errors, no worries !!
  8.
I was wondering why TJ does not pay by direct debit, is there a reason?
Nothing sinister I'm afraid :) Simply, DD's put merchants incharge of your money, they can basically take what they want, when they want ! And they do make mistakes, infact earlier this year I was hit with a rather large bill, which was infact an error, had they had DD facility then the money would have gone from my account, and then I would have had to spend probably more time trying to get it back. As it was, I called them, explained the situation took the name of the employee and left it at that. The next day I had an email confirming the conversation and a credit to cancel the invoice. Probably a more useful reason for not having DD's is it allows you to manage your budget to the best advantage for you, if you have some unexpected expense you may want to delay a payment a few days a week or two even, DD;s dont give you that option. I just like to be the only one to have unlimited access to my bank account, and all the usual bills are easily paid online with a carte bancaire.
  9. I said I dont allow DD's from my account,,,,,,,and the 400 euros is is you refuse to pay by DD.

and as you will see below, you choose, activation 96 euros or on deactivation less 1.50 euros per month for each month you pay, basically a five year contract.

  10. I read some of the tarif guide, it would appear there are charges for initial connection / installation, and if you want to pay online( dont allow any direct debits ) its another 4 euros surcharge !

Orange are 34.90 month internet, tv , telephone unlimited, 1 hour to mobiles, dont see any competition to them, given they are the largest provider and the lines belong to them, so no probs if you have a line problem rather than internet connection problem.

  11.

who cares anyway !, this s**t happens everyday, ,,,
Not at our local Dump or even at our local déchetterie.
so you care because it happened at your local "dump" and not at someone elses,,,,,,,,just for the hell of it, is there some particular place these things should happen, obviously the local dump doesnt fit the bill,,
  12. There are some fundamental changes occuring which could determine the strength or weakness of the euro, the biggest factors at present are UK and US's dismal outlook, and the chinese buying euro bonds instead of dollar bonds,,,,,this is key to future euro strength, china the biggest economy on the planet will surely dictate as the us has done, the winners and losers.

in the short term and for the original poster, wait til the euro corrects a little it is overbought but a drop is inevitable, infact it happens everyday only it is closing higher so you dont see the drop unless you are following the market using live charts..
