  1. Croixblanches I think we may have a little bit of mutual salvation approaching (for an hour or so)! Think you are the very kind lady whom my husband is coming to meet re swimming pool when he is over at half term. I am remaining in UK to supervise the GCSE candidate who will have no excuse as peace and quiet will reign, as the 14 year old is absent in France too. Therefore the not v girly 14 year old may be able to speak (English) to your 15 year old for an hour or so. What a treat!   If I am right, could you E mail me and tell me when is good for you - he will fit in with your diary requirements. Many thanks Pouyade

  3. A late thanks to all who replied publically and privately, have not been able to post for a while due to now disappeared gremlins. We are researching the leads given and hope to have a pool by summer 06............ Pouyade
  4. Having seen the result of doing that when friends 'trusted' their 16 year old, I think mine will have graduated from uni before I'd risk it!! With the number of people moving in locally, surely some youngsters will arrive..................Not that having to mix with the token toddler and the retired locals is BAD for them, just a bit limiting, even I will concede!   Pouyade
  5. I have also heard that there are free English courses in Gemozac (we are 5k south of there). I can't remember where I picked it up. Have you asked at the library (v helpful people) or Mairie? I forgot when last over. If you find out - let us know! Pouyade
  6. We are always delighted to be able to visit our slowly improving holiday home 5k south of Gemozac. However, as the girls (now 14 and 16) grow they are less content than they were - just normal teenager reaction. They prefer not to be seen publicly with the old fogies who are their actually quite young parents and miss 'being with their mates' at home. Question is do any of you have  any prospective local 'mates' of teenage years, either sex who might also wish to 'hang out' during the holidays? There are no local French of the right age. Whilst we do take their friends with us on holidays I am not happy to do that for all the time we are there - we do need some family time, and it can get a touch expensive! Pouyade
  7. Need to have a staircase built from scratch and we were pondering on whether a stone staircase was feasible. Before I attempt to discuss this with our french builder, has anyone any views/tips/experience which might be helpful? Thanks Pouyade
  8. Can anyone recommend (or otherwise) a pool installer in the Saintes/Gemozac/Mortagne area? We are at the stage of wanting a domestic pool put in but no neighbours have one, so are unable to help. That's a pity as ALL their recommendations for artisans have been 100%.............. Thanks, Pouyade
  9. zeb - where is this resto? Sounds like worth a trip! Pouyade
  10. We are thinking of grabbing a few days skiing, intermingled with a trip to our house north of Bordeaux. Consequently I think we are honing in on the Pyrenees. Looking at the map, Luz Ardiden, La Mongie and Saint Lary Soulan look like the probable options. Anyone have views any hotel recommendations? Just for once don’t want to self cater!!   Thanks,   Pouyade
  11. Please see below the recent messages between eurotunnel and I. I hope it makes sense - I have posted them chronologically. They have just lost some custom............... Anyone else feel like adding some similar pressure? Pouyade ORIGINAL QUERY My husband and I were joint members of the PoC, which worked very > well. Would you now care to ensure that I receive an answer from 'the key staff' mentioned - who should have responded the first instance. I look forward to receiving this by 1.2.05. I shall be publicising the response OR LACK OF IT. Many thanks SECOND RESPONSE Thank you for your further e-mail. Please accept my apologies for the delay in response. I confirm that the Terms and Conditions of the Frequent Traveller Scheme cannot be varied to take account of your circumstances. In order to be able to provide these exceptional fares we have had to introduce certain restrictions to usage and validity. To benefit from the lowest possible fare we do ask you to travel when demand for our service us lowest. We require a minimum purchase of 10 one way trips, valid for 1 year, which is not refundable. The validity of Frequent Travellers tickets is limited to motor cars less than 1.85 metres high and use by the named account holder only. We regret that there is no facility to extend the validity of these tickets to others, even close relatives. This may appear to be unnecessarily restrictive however the purpose of these fares is to reward the regular customer as an individual. You can travel at busier times of day or with a trailer/caravan and you can take your pet however a supplement will become payable in those circumstances. We recommend that you always tell us in advance of any changes to your travel requirements. When you check in you will be asked to produce either your passport or your driving licence as proof of identity as well as providing a valid booking reference number and your Privilege Account number. If you paid for your 10 single trips by credit or debit card then you will be asked to produce the card for verification. For further information about the Terms and Conditions please visit our website at www.eurotunnel.com or go direct to http://www.eurotunnel.com/ukcMain/ukcPassengers/ukcFrequentTravellers/ukcFre quentTravellers/ukpFTtc If you have any further queries please let me know as I shall be happy to help. Kind regards, Janice Passenger Customer Relations Tel: 01303 271444 Fax: 01303 272690 [email protected]
