we live in a village in Northern France and there are several "maison secondaires". One of these has been burgled this week and there are no contact details for the owners. It is only through an hour of Internet searching that we have managed to contact the owners via, would you believe, their ebay account. Their house is unsecured because the police will not attend unless the owners are there. So please anyone with a maison secondaire, ensure the Marie have your contact details. As our Maire said, if there was a burst pipe in the house, nothing could be done. Suey

We had an automated telephone call last week, telling us that our consumption had increased and could we ring to arrange increasing our payment. Having not had our meter read since the summer, I wondered how they would know that we had consumed more. Telephoned the International EDF line they advised that under no circumstances should we return the call to these scammers. Definitely fraudulent. Please everyone be aware. Sue

I was asked yesterday why the British won't take them in. It is very difficult to explain that they should seek asylum in the first safe country they enter and not cross borders until they find one they like.

Please please can anyone suggest what we can do to stop our Border Collie's wind problem (please no suggestions of buying him a kite). He eats exactly the same as our other two dogs (Ridgeback and Pedigree Heinz 57 varieties) but every day we are overcome by a green fug that rises from the rear end of the Border Collie. He eats complete food croquettes (breckies volailles et legumes). Many thanks in advance Suey

Yesterday we had lunch in a lovely cafe/bar in Boubers-sur-Canche in the beautiful 7 valleys region. Pretty close to the Somme region. A three course mid-day meal 11.50 euros, the best chips in the Pas de Calais. Lovely welcome. We have given our bird feeder a really good clean and thrown all existing peanuts and fat balls and sunflower seeds out and replenished with new.  So now we'll see if there is any difference.  We normally have Blue Tits, Great Tits, Crested Tits, Sparrows, Nuthatch, Woodpeckers and at the moment nothing.
