  1. Are the secure-code calls being sent to your mobile or to a fixed phone ? Many Banks have experienced glitches after the introduction of such 'security'.
  2. Great property .. Something like that where we live would be more like 3 times that price. The link says it's under offer .. I'm only surprised that someone has made a offer, not paid the full price. Edit : It looks to me as tho it might have been rented out as a holiday let .. there are 12 chairs round that dining table.
  3. mint wrote the following post at 18 May 2021 18:02: I asked to see the 100% sante frames after she led me to another part of the shop to choose frames. In fact, I thought there was a very good range of "free" frames and I was very quickly able to choose a pair and she worked it all out and told me it was all prise en charge. Excellent news .. well done you. As I am tiny .. child-size plus a bit .. it is v awkward to find frames which suit my wee face but will accommodate the 3 layers of vari-focals I need .. so I am willing to pay for good lenses in an adjusted-to-fit frame.
  4. mint wrote the following post at 18 May 2021 12:52: Well, so much for having lived years in France....obviously still no idea of how remboursements for glasses work! I have just been this morning for a quote .. not for the 'free' specs .. but at my local opticians using our Groupama mutuelle subsidy .. Cost of Essilor varifocal, photochromic, thinned lenses in a good frame should have been 784€ for the 2 lenses plus 244€ for the frame .. after deductions I will actually owe 316€. So I am quite happy.

And it was built in 1975 .. There is a lot of land with it .. 6300m2
  6. Lori wrote the following post at 16 May 2021 13:08: This one notes the taxe fonciere is 3600€ !!! Yes very likely .. there is a lot of land and the house is 250m2 and it looks to be modern - some of the tiles we have here and our house was modified in 2007. The older a house is then, usually, the cheaper the taxe foncière, unless it has been completely made over.
  7. Lori wrote the following post at 15 May 2021 17:41: Thanks Wooly. Yes, why are their prices so much lower than other agencies? I did notice that. Are they a scam operation? ALL their prices seem unreal. Normally Leggett's prices are very much higher than anyone else's .. so I am surprised, astonished even, to see that they have seemingly glorious properties for sale at low prices. It is surpising though that all the properties seem to be bathed in wall to wall sunshine .. do these photos date from this year and are they still for sale. Have you contacted Leggetts to ask ?
  8. It's been like that for the past year here .. ever since the first lockdown ended last May. People stuck in small flats in towns during the lockdown vowed that their lives would change .. many being able to work from home determined that they would only return to the old way under duress. Either way the sales of houses/homes/holiday homes away from towns have been growing apace ever since then. Edit : Apparently it is more or less the same in the UK at the moment.
  9. Thanks for that Norman .. It is heartening with the lighter, longer, warmer days that some limited freedom will be allowed. The snag comes when some people go overboard with enthusiasm and get carried away. As the report says .. a modicum of caution is the best way. I am impressed that, at last, France is getting into gear re vaccination, and I think 450 000 jabs per day is not bad at all. But, as the paper says, with Ascension this week and then Pentecôte next week those figures will go out the window. It will then take time to get back on track.
  10. nomoss wrote the following post at 10 May 2021 19:05: You should tick boxes 8RP and 8RQ if your health insurance is covered by S1 forms, so not by the French system. I don't agree .. it's for people who have private cover or cover by/from a foreign country. People with existing S1s have French cover which is paid for by the UK by an existing agreement, which will continue for existing beneficiaries. This agreement will disappear for recent arrivals (from the UK, post Brexit)
  11. Box 1AS is now designated for French sourced pensions .. the Fisc changed things a couple of years ago. This is smthg they do constantly. If your pension is taxed in the UK then it goes in box 1AL .. pension publique. Box 1AM is for your UK OAP pension .. at present anyway. Don't forget to fill in form 2047 first .. as this is the foreign-sourced income worksheet.
  12. pomme .. I hope you don't mind but I used your reply above to help someone with the same problem on another forum. I credited you for the solution but without mentioning your name.

Have you looked in Spam for their email saying that your card was ready for collection ? I would try contacting them to find out what's happened.
  14. Lori wrote the following post at 28 Apr 2021 15:30: It is still a shock to us (even after seeing it for so long now) to see no masks and no distancing. It is very obvious to us why the case loads remain in the 30,000 range. Very obvious. Just today, I saw people sitting INSIDE a restaurant eating meals and I am quite confident they were not all employees. Thought that was interdite. Right... You and we live in different parts of France, very obviously. Here people are normally v disciplined .. possibly due to the aged population. But .. being a coastal place we are also inundated by people escaping your kind of nightmare scenario. Houses open up overnight as escapées arrive .. at first I was worried. Now less so as these are people who want to hide away and escape from the kind of horror that you are experiencing.
  15. mint wrote the following post at 28 Apr 2021 18:58: I think it was a fundamental mistake to make people ring in or book on-line instead of having either the CPAM or the MTs to contact people and invite them to come. That's what the UK do, people wait to be called. Other than in unusual circumstances, people do not have to proactively ask for the RVs. OH and I had decided to wait it out, as we were already lying low .. when we received a call from an organiser at the Pharmacie in our nearest small town about 6/7 km away, where our cabinet médical is. We were offered a dual appt for the following week .. 21/04 .. with the Moderna vaccine; apparently it was recommended by the MT because of OH's anaphylactic shock history. I was the lucky accomplice. So far so good. We were told we would be contacted by phone as to the next dose/appt.
  16. Lori wrote the following post at 26 Apr 2021 10:39: It is looking like we have found the next roof over our head. Should be confirmed within the next 48 hours. That is excellent news .. how exciting. As to the car .. dealers are awash with second hand cars especially at the moment so yes, make an offer. Also you can bargain for a better or longer guarantee. If you don't ask then you definitely don't get.
  17. Woodrup wrote the following post at 24 Apr 2021 8:14: I was warned by a work colleague, and it says on the French Pension site they take 3-6 months to administer new pensions. It can, according to hairy stories I have heard from friends, take a lot longer than that .. or it used to. Hopefully they have speeded up a bit/a lot nowadays.
  18. CeeJay wrote the following post at 22 Apr 2021 10:21: .. what happens to the telephone line, is it still kept in addition or does the fibre optic cable take telephone as well. If there is just the fibre optic I presume that would go direct into the livebox, but how is the telephone connected? Do you have a telephone plugged into a t-shaped socket of its own ?
  19. Normally government pensions i.e. teacher's etc are declared at 1AL ..pensions ouvrant droit à crédit d'impôt égal à l'impôt français. Then the same amount is input on 8TK to claim the credit of tax paid (or assumed to be paid) in the UK.
  20. chessie wrote the following post at 18 Mar 2021 15:18: Seems as though all this 3rd party validation, extra security blah blah designed to 'protect' the customer - is actually preventing the customer from spending any money. Well, yes, I can see the logic in that - I know OH would certainly agree to anything to stop me spending !!!!!!! You are going to run into problems unless you set up a validation procedure with your UK or French Banks .. most now require you to (at least) register a mobile no with them .. so on the validation page of your purchase you can input the code the Bank will send you by SMS.
  21. idun wrote the following post at 03 Mar 2021 13:37: Re heating plates, I have never dared put a plate into the micro wave to heat it up on it's own, I always put a few tablespoons of water on first. I would continue with the added water .. that is what is recommended to do. From the Denby website .. Denby can be safely used for cooking food in a microwave (it is not recommended that the microwave is used for warming plates), oven and for use in the fridge, freezer and dishwasher (except for coloured lustre glass). Which seems to assume the plates will have smthg on them whilst they are in the MW.
  22. Ken wrote the following post at 28 Feb 2021 14:47: I wrote earlier that when ever the subject of being fat, smoking, drinking etc. too much is raised I hear the same stories about how someone smoked a hundred a day and never had a cough etc. Yes, someone may have died of a stroke or cancer but the reason for the disease? So how come my very close friend has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer .. she has never smoked, is not fat (nor even plump) eats Bio from her brother inlaws veg plot .. walks a lot and is into Japanese exercise every morning. She is just 86 and is now dying at home of a genetic disease .. I am distraught as there is nothing that I can do to help her pain. Life can be a bummer.
  23. The report does not sound very encouraging to me .. tho I did read, in the UK press, that younger people seemingly have stronger reactions to the vaccines than older people. But it was also noted that younger people seemingly produce more anti-bodies than old(er) people so perhaps an adverse or strong reaction should be seen as being a help rather than a hindrance.
