  1. Yep .. loads of people elsewhere have remarked on it. Apparently it's a glitch .. and appears after you have ticked either the 8SH or the 8SI box, or both. It automatically ticks the box of 'non-residents' in the list of rubriques from which you choose the ones you require .. near the beginning after you have chosen the annexes you need to complete your declaration. I logged out completely (déconnexion) and then went back in to the beginning .. as though I was starting again .. and unticked it from the list of rubriques .. all was fine after that.
  2. As you say .. there's nothing earth shattering but I found it a fascinating examination of the text. It reminded me of the dissections of literary text we did in S level French .. gosh that's going back a bit.

But that was about 30 years ago, and things have changed a lot since thenWink [;-)] Gosh .. imagine the charge(s) for withdrawing a (large) lump of cash on a credit card in a foreign land .. even 30 years ago that would not have been cheap. But then I suppose the house was very reasonably priced ?

EuroTrash wrote : And because there's no way of tracing the provenance of bitcoin and distinguishing between honest users and dishonest users, I guess the honest users will just have to accept the consequences of choosing to use non-transparent payment methods. Their choice. Such a good point. Transparency all the way for me. Somehow this proposal sounds dodgy .. as has been previously said the advantage for the purchaser is easy to see but for the vendor it sounds less straight forward. He/she might be implicated in some obscure way in the future .. and that would certainly give me sleepless nights.
  5. Mint wrote : Thank you, Kong. That's answered my question completely. So now I can go and have a cup of tea and maybe go for a walk. Mint .. do check again as your OH should have received 13 payments. It is easy to miss .. as the month you received 2 payments will not necessarily be the same month as your OH. It all depends on when your pensions started to be paid. Each pension is paid every 28 days so that makes 13 in each year for everyone.
  6. Lori wrote : I've sent her an email. Hopefully she is okay. Good thing to do .. I think I can safely say that most of us on here care about Chessie .. so I hope she is okay too. But she is a big girl .. so needs to do what she knows is right for her and her OH, which might include not being on here from time to time. Mind you I could be wrong ?
  7. Chessie often 'disappears' for quite a while, sometimes for ages, but she always turns up again. Perhaps send her a pm if you are very concerned.
  8. Idun wrote : I am really starting to wonder if your husband has a little 'treasure cache' somewhere, like a child would. So very unlikely places, proper hiding places. Gosh, that reminds me of smthg my cousin said years ago .. his mum lived with him and his wife for the last few years of her life. She wasn't diagnosed as having Alzheimers .. it was a long time ago .. but it sounds very like it. She would accuse her d-i-l of taking her pension cash .. angry scenes would sometimes follow. Mostly the cash would later on be found in some v odd place .. one of her favourite hiding places was in her knee high winter boots .. the cash being rammed right down into the toe.
  9. My OH went to the pre-advised open area near the Mairie, complete with completed formulaire swearing upon honour that he lived here as a bona-fide permanent resident, to find a hugely long snaking queue of people waiting to be gifted their mask .. one per resident .. He decided that he would try tomorrow as the queue was v long and the déchetterie (newly opened) was only open for a couple of hours. Me, I was at home making myself a fabric mask from an old blouse, as I am tiny and most 'average or one-size-fits all sizes' drown me. The instructions on YouTube were clear .. but somewhat awkward to follow if you were trying to watch and cut/pin/iron at the same time. I could have done with freeze frame. NB .. Our pharmacy today was selling re-usable masks .. but they were so insubstantial I reckon after 1 X 60°C wash they would be useless. And they were 5€ .. OH bought a couple just in case the queue at the Mairie is just as long tomorrow.
  10. Norman wrote : I did the same as I have been doing and it's likely to stay like that given the insane behaviour of people in the street. Exactly the same here .. apart from the fact that our local déchettetie opened up, using the last 2 numbers of the car's number plate as a control, so this pm my OH hared off with 4 concertina-type containers full of green stuff. Then he returned and viewed the very long queue for an approved (albeit sewn locally) mask and decided to try again tomorrow .. Mostly, this type of outing apart, we intend to hunker down and review the situation over a period of time ..
  11. As you can invite people to your home from that date, as long as you are less than 10 in total, I would have thought that two people (supposing you are from the same household) could travel together in a car. Either Monday night or Tuesday will bring all these kind of queries to light.
  12. I've been lucky enough to watch it hanging in the sky looking huge and ethereal for the last 4 days .. usually the early morning has been best up here, around 4.50am the first time and about 6.30 ish this morning.
  13. Nomoss wrote : Sorry, I meant to ask how many on this forum who live here don't have a titre de séjour. Contrary to ET's situation .. there are many people who live here in France but who don't have a cds OH and I, plus two elderly friends (plus others hereabouts) don't have cds's because we were all actively discouraged from applying. On going to the Préfecture (that dates me) we were firmly told (twice) that .. as we were 'resortissants Britanniques' .. we had no need of a cds. Reason : We were European. That was then, but things change. Now we will all need them in the future .. there will be no problem as we all are stable, regular residents of LBF .. needing but a few pieces of paper to show in order to obtain said card. I shall be v happy to have one .. ?
  14. It seems be a payt app .. so I won't be quoting the online verbage saying how easy it is to download this app that will make your life so much easier ??
  15. Norman wrote : Don't forget that the areas that are green now are likely to be the places where the next wave will hit, since there is a lower proportion of people who have already been exposed to the virus. That said, I agree with the country/town point. I have just been to take our rubbish to the 'colonne enterrée' in the very small square which serves as a car park .. mostly for the few holiday lets in the old Breton houses which don't have drives/parking. And what do I walk past but a very smart mercedes sports car with a most prominent 75 on its number plate. The house this couple are staying in is a tiny 2 piece converted from an old garage .. they definitely weren't there a few days ago so perhaps they're here for the weekend. Trouble is the lockdown is not yet over, Paris is a lot more than 100kms away and was definitely in the red zone last time I looked .. so this couple are potentially putting the locals at risk .. especially as most of them/us are older rather than younger.

  17. Lucky you ? I would like to see any flour available other than the odd bag of the very cheapest plain white flour. Yeast ? What's that ? Still .. all this does make one aware of the small pleasures in life. Each day there is a sunrise and a sunset .. so all is good.
  18. Chessie wrote : Sadly, I've discovered that he's starting going through my handbag, and my clothes drawers....without asking me. Which feels a bit 'odd'. At a certain stage of Alzheimers this can become more or less the norm, in my experience. This 'investigative' exploration is not threatening, altho it can seem so .. but it genuinely is more like a child exploring .. as, for such a person every day really is a brand new day, with all the world to discover. Your personal belongings become just 'stuff' to them, and new stuff at that. Don't take his actions personally .. altho that can be the most difficult thing to realise. You will have to copy all keys, all important info, all important docs and hide them in a secure place that he cannot access. If not at your house then at someone else's who is trustworthy.
  19. Lori wrote : We have signed the lease for our new place !! Yeah !!!! We are scheduled to move on 15 June. Echoing GG I, too, hope that all goes well for your move and all goes smoothly. Fingers firmly crossed.
  20. Norman wrote : The contrast with Germany could not be more striking: https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2020/04/angela-merkel-germany-coronavirus-pandemic/610225/ Thanks to Norman for that link .. I have just spent almost an hour reading my free limit of (IMO) well-written and well-researched articles from 'the Atlantic'. The Merkel article was excellent but then I passed on to the related articles concerning the US .. I knew the underlying situation was bad there but Trump is just as ruthless than I thought. The stock market .. plus him being re-elected in November .. do dominate his life exclusively.
  21. Martin963 wrote : As we're back in England now I'm not as in touch with things as I was .. Oh gosh, Martin .. how lovely to hear from you ? I saw that you hadn't been posting recently but did not realise that you and yours had moved to the UK .. and to delightful Devon .. how splendid ? Yes here things connectivity-wise continue to move exceedingly slowly .. it is v much like watching paint dry .. only slower. Delighted to hear that all goes well in the UK .. bravo ?
  22. Sorry to harp on about SFR .. you could use any mobile network you like .. Bouygues, Free whichever has the strongest signal in your area. This isn't replacing your Orange package with an another Internet/mobile package. It would be you buying a router which takes a SIM card .. The idea takes some getting used to .. no connection to a fixed phone line .. all Internet and calls come via the SIM card .. a bit like when you put your Free SIM in your mobile phone .. the SIM card offer gives you access to the Internet (if you have a smart phone) and to calls. But instead of putting the SIM in a phone you put it in a router .. and access the WiFi of the router via your tablet, your laptop or your computer .. or all of them at once as the signal you receive should be stronger than the signal from Orange ADSL via the phone line. I'm not good at explaining .. I try and find an easy to understand link.
