  1. Hi, Sorry I haven't responded sooner, I have a very busy workload at present. I have spoken to editorial and asked them about the use of the photos in print and they have said that they won't be using them within the magazines. I could also say that I won't be using them for the website too, but if members want a gallery created with them in, then this may constitute using them? Or are you talking about editorial and photos within online articles? James
  2. Well ....Vive la France ticket giveaway [:)]... Living France has 25 pairs of tickets to the Vive la France exhibition to give away to our forum users. Taking place between 19-21 January 2007 and with more than 300 exhibitors, the event will be held at the Olympia Exhibition Centre. It showcases the very best of life in France. From gastronomic delights to culture, style and interior design, the show offers visitors a rich taste of France in the heart of London, together with an exciting package of travel destinations and a wide selection of property. The tickets can be used on any one of the three days of the event. Living France will give two tickets each to the first 25 forum users to send an email to *NB: competition is now closed* Please note you will have to make your own way to the exhibition. Please put Vive la France in the subject line and send your name and postal address in the message body. To ensure we have time to post all tickets, please send your entry by 4 January. Good luck!
  3.   PM only please...no naming and shaming on the forum.
  4. Hi, You emailed me but when I replied your email bounced, could you post please here and I will sort out. James
  5.   I have now changed the email notification so that it comes from [email protected]. That way if someone makes a mistake and accidentally emails instead of clicking on the link it will bounce and they will hopefully realise their mistake.
  6. Hi, November!? That's what happens when you get someone else to set up an out of office reply! No, I don't get a cc of moderators correspondence. I think you probably replied to the notification email in error, instead of clicking on the link to the PM system. If this happens the email would come to the admin system instead of to the individual and hence the autoreply. Perhaps it would be best if the notification didn't contain the PM text? That way it would be clearer that you need to respond via PM. However the way it is set up means that you don't have to go to the forum to read the PM. James
  7. I think with the restructure we can have Photography as a separate forum now, I will sort this. James
  8. Hi, Thought it was time for a bit of a restructure to organise the forums into their key areas. Hopefully this will address where posts go. It may take a bit of time for the severs to catch-up to the changes so things may look like they are in the wrong forum section...but it should correct over a short period of time. James
  9. I would say up from 250 to 400 pixels wide is best for a photo and won't distort the view. James
  10. Hi, I have created a new section for this discussion here: http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/905/ShowForum.aspx I will keep it to one section but can create sub-sections for topics within once populated and required.
  11. New section for longer term lettings.
  12. Created a subforum section as requested. [:)]
  13. Please do not post images that infringe copyright...even if you create an image link and the image shows within the forum (hot linking). Why? Everything published on the internet should be taken to be copyright unless it clearly states otherwise. There is no requirement for anyone to place any notice of copyright to protect rights. The law assumes that copyright exists unless specifically stated to the contrary.  However, claims for damages can be be higher where a specific notice was present. The UK Copyright Service has clarified that: "It makes no difference how the work is stored or published, the law still applies." Therefore it is clear that it makes no difference where an image is stored - it is where it is published that counts. In law, "in the public domain" can only apply if you have it in writing from the author / intellectual property owner that this is the case. Public domain rights cannot be assumed if it's an imgae on the web. Civil law applies for all actions regarding copyright issues. Unlike criminal law the plaintive does not have to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt - the balance of probability can be enough to have damages awarded. In short, the only photos that can legitimately be posted within forums are: photos which the poster took him/herself and which the poster owns the royalty free rights photos which the poster has written permission from the intellectual  property owner to reproduce specifically in this forum photos from the web which are clearly and specifically labelled "in the public domain" ANYTHING else could lead to civil legal action being taken. You can provide an html link to an image on the web but not re-produce the image itself within the forum (including avatars) if you don't have permission to do so. Please remember that part of the code of conduct asks for members not to transmit any material that you don't have the right to transmit under law (such as copyright or trade secrets) and that you will indemnify us in respect of any breach of that warranty. Thought it best to make everyone aware of the situation. Also... Archant won't take the images that appear on this forum (hotlinked) and use them without the members permission.
  14. If you email me the changes to your profile I can sort this out. James
  15. I was the second computer on the left.[:D]
  16. This is a known problem with this software. It's because your login email address is different to your private email address within your profile.   If you change your private email back to your login email and save...then go back in, make changes to your profile and save. Then you can change your private email back to your new address.   If you have any problems with the above you can send me the update you would like to make to your profile and I will change for you....or alternatively, if you change it in the next 10 minutes I'll switch on the 'acorn' and check you're doing it properly...
  17. Hi, Your login email address can't be changed as this is used to identify you. As you've correctly changed your private email address, all correspondence from the forum (emails and notifications) will come to yourt new email address.
  18. PM only please as there is a no advertising policy on this forum. Thanks
  19. It signifies whether someone is online or offline. But.... We run a number of servers simultaneously so it won't show correctly, some members could be on one server, others on another but still viewing the same pages. Something like that anyway...
  20. Hi Cheryl, I have changed your setting to enable post mouse-over popup. James
  21. Hi, I have passed this on to the developers for them to look into.
